  1. I'm happy to fumble my way around the field.
  2. Really?? I was honestly expecting less than 15k, perhaps even closer to 10k the way we've been playing. How many GC supporters?
  3. Don't need to make any grand statements in the lead up to this week's game. Let our performance do the talking. If we do win (wishful thinking), then say some kind words about Dean, and how we needed the win for everyone involved with the club. Stynes and the supporters in particular.
  4. We'll see a few dees supporters come out of the woodwork who were big Viney fans in the 90s.
  5. I like the logic for playing Sylvia on Judd. He has the speed and talent to do a decent job of it. Just needs to be fired up and dedicated to the task. Davey has never really provided a strong tag and would be far too raw I would think.
  6. I'll be there in a group of 15. That's my contribution.
  7. Ronald I'm with you on this. Just watch Viney's press conference, there's still plenty to be positive and enthusastic about. Despite what's happened over the past few days we have some excellent people at the club, and a fantastic, talented young list of players. No doubt there will be some experienced coaches out there keen to take the helm. With regards to factions/in-fighting etc. I'm sure it will be smoothed out over the coming months, it has to be. Because one important fact that will always remain, is that every individual at any AFL club has one common goal: to win a premiership.
  8. And CC staying on as well.
  9. It's pretty simple, when we start winning more games and become regularly competitive with top 8 sides, we'll get bigger crowds, better timeslots and a hell of a lot more noise from the crowd. Every club is the same, win more games, get more members and bigger crowds. I've been to almost all of our home games over the past 5 years, but when we start to get flogged I'll often go stand in the bar and socialise rather than sit out in the cold and have a sh!t time. Likewise when we play at Etihad I'll watch on fox sports in the comfort of my home with friends rather than fork out more cash to watch a poor performance and sit amongst annoying opposition supporters. I think that's a fair attitude, I support the club by buying memberships, merchandise and attend plenty of games. But if anyone expects me to travel down to SS to watch us get torn apart in front of 30,000 geelong supporters, they are kidding themselves!
  10. Not really surprising, the way we've played against the hawks over the last few years hasn't been very entertaining.
  11. I wonder if it's a case of keeping either Sylv or Scully. We've reportedly offered Scully $700k/year. So if Scully leaves, that space in the cap is available to make a sizeable offer to Syvia.
  12. In today's sport section of the sun, there's two whole pages devoted to an extract from a book about Matthew Lloyd, clearly it's a very very slow AFL news day!
  13. Maybe so, just passing on what I was told. Agreed, there wouldn't be much value in Jack coming back underdone.
  14. I've heard that Grimes is a chance to sneak in a couple of games later in the season. This comes from a friend who knows the Grimes family.
  15. I noticed Moloney often had him under control at centre bounces.
  16. Don't like Etihad, not paying to go there, will watch on TV. It's not all about attendance, I'll go to all of the games at our home ground. I'll buy merchandise and memberships instead.
  17. Positives: - Good effort from Watts. - Trengove, particularly in the third quarter. That's about it.
  18. Something that I haven't heard anyone mention....is that we're currently missing 3 of our top 4 tacklers from 2010. This could go some way to explaining how soft we've been at stoppages. Top Dees tacklers from 2010: McKenzie 128 McDonald 119 Moloney 86 Scully 81 Davey 75 Trengove 75 Bruce 73 In hindsight, it could be concluded that we should have held on to Junior and Bruce. It also highlights how much we are missing the intensity of McKenzie and the ball movement through the midfield from Scully. No excuses for last night's terrible performance, but thought these stats highlight an issue.
  19. Why not? If they're fit and ready to be in our best 22, why wouldn't you play them? It's not like they have to be punished by playing VFL just because they have been injured.
  20. I give a rats. Being in the 8 after round 4 is historically/statistically important. There's typically not many teams who move in or out of the 8 after round 4. Having said that, it's a bit different this season with the byes. We only have to travel 3 more times after round 4, and we have the Suns again later in the season...if we can hit a rich vein of form at some stage and cause a couple of upsets, we just might be able to stick in the top half of the ladder!
  21. I'll bring a friend along who will have a go....so add 'Fitzy' to the lineup. thanks
  22. Hey put me down. I'll have a go. Thanks Rollo.
  23. Sorry to those who have wasted 2 minutes of their life, I'll keep my awesome dreams to myself next time.
  24. I had a strange dream last night. I travelled forward in time to the year 2016. The first thing I did was find the nearest news stand and went through all the football magazines. There was a publication called 'Every heart beats true' (a demons magazine) and on the front cover, down the bottom it had all the years the dees have won a premiership. Sure enough, included in the years were "2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015". The only thing that makes the dream invalid is that it also had "2010" as a flag year, which isn't accurate. Then I was rifling through all the other footy mags, and there was a photo of Chip Frawley running around in a brisbane lions guernsey! There was also results from the 2016 season so far, I think we were 8 wins 9 losses or something, so our premiership run was over. After that I ran around trying to find a 'sporting almanac' (like on back to the future) so I could come back to 2011 and win a bunch of bets, but I had to leave and return to the present.... So anyway, hopefully some of these things come true, apart from the bit about frawley going to the lions.
  25. We should be welcoming all levels of support, whether that means buying a $50 mcc/mfc membership or not. If someone chooses to buy merchandise and attend all dees games sitting in the MCC.... That still brings significant benefits to the club, adds to our attendance and merch sales. For those attempting to argue that an MCC membership doesn't offer value...you are kidding yourself. There's 180,000 names on a waiting list that disagree with you. Last year I attended around 35 games at the G, which included 2 prelims and the grand final...plus 2 days of the test.
