  1. I agree that Jamar would have reasonable value but the writer of the OP has first suggested the idea of trading Jamar for boak in a previous post. Now suddenly Jamar wants to go home.
  2. No, disagree and poor comparison. Martin can play up forward, down back and pinch hit in the ruck capably in a senior afl team. He is tall, athletic, super quick, strong and durable and has a lot of upside. If we didnt sign him for 2 years someone else would love to. Carlton and Hawthorn would love to have him.
  3. In your camp Choko, one thing to claim a bloke needs to work on his kicking and another to say he is "useless" or some such thing.
  4. no its not, most intelligent people could figure out the etc... for themselves, but for you I have compiled the following: Jonathan Brown Simon Black Leon Davis Mathew Pavlich Brad Ottens Chance Bateman Lance Franklin Thats only current and elite players. Good enough for you. For every player who has gome home I will raise you 5 who have stayed. Anyhow now that I have delivered the knockout blow I won't engage you anymore. My two year old wants a muffin and is putting up quite an argument. Get the best available. Good players will stay at a club likely to succeed and a club likely to succeed will have the best players it can get.
  5. Yeah Hawthorn F*&^d up when they picked up Cyril Rioli. Likewise West Coast with Judd etc, etc, etc.
  6. Thanks for clarifying. Given the first example it would be an advantage to to have multiple FS likely to go in the same round, particularly in the first round. That name though still gives me shudders. I have to get past my prejudices.
  7. Biggest beat up since chicken-gate.
  8. The only issue is if you had multiple f/s that were likely ot go in the same round, then I suppose you would need to pick which one to go for. Otherwise recruiting F/Ss won't change anything, how would it?
  9. Referring to son of Alan I think.
  10. I thought someone might pick that out this is probably not the thread for it but anyway.... Nathan Jones is actually a fairly good kick, in fact when he is on he is one our best deliverers inside 50. The mechanics of his kicking are fine. I believe that players like Jones take time to deal with angles, distances, speed measurements and options. Jones is an attacking footballer. He likes to get the footy and get himself into a position where he can deliver to a team-mate in the corridor and he always attacks the goals. This is a good trait.. as long as there are clear targets available for him to drill his passes to. He gets in trouble when he needs to take a defensive option, he still uses the corridor when he should go sideways or to a contest on the boundary. Its these subtleties that he needs to work on. His kicking over the last month has been very good bordering on excellent. I still believe he is one of the most important players on our list. He has the attacking mindset and self belief to take us forward.
  11. He has a premiership medal. They are arrogant because they are used to success. We could use some of that.
  12. Surely not, Valenti is too slow to catch anyone isn't he?? Spectators seem to watch games of footy with prejudices. Footy produces the unexpected. Colin Garland is a good example. I saw things watching Valenti playing the last couple of weeks albeit against ordinary opposition which can be defined as footy smarts. Ie looking around and selecting his options quickly and delivering the ball well, turning his body to evade tacklers and just some other intangibles that show that the bloke is a footballer. He is the antithesis of Daniel Bell who may be fighting for the same spot on the list. Bell is far more athletic but much less of a footballer. If it were any other second year rookie that played that game on the weekend everyone would be universally singing his praises. Many had already put a line through his name and seem to be treating his performance as an affront to thier footy intelligence. What it will come down to is balancing the list. Valenti is physically limited and can only really be used in the guts. The question is, Is he good enough at what he does to own that position outright? Have we seen enough of him to answer this question?
  13. Yep, I reckon you are on the money. Besides Robbo, Wheatley and Whelan two more players to be removed from the senior list, if Valenti is elevated three more. Or Mcnamara and/or Cheney could be rookie listed. Could be a good option I reckon.
  14. four on the main list, one rookie?
  15. Nathan Jones is a poor kick. Paul Johnson is a ruckman. You have to adapt your game plan to suit your playing list. Lynden Dunn could be a KPF if given a chance.
  16. Good post. Would keep him before a great many on the list. Many are looking at him having judged him already. His disposal is good. His pace is not the worst but not great. He works well in traffic and is smart. He finds the footy and chooses good options. The problem for Valenti is that his lack of height and pace make him far less adaptable than some players of far less capabilty and this may be his undoing. I believe unlike many others that he will be a very good AFL player and a weekly inclusion, hopefully at the MFC.
  17. Definite yes to McKinley if his attitude is right. Kid can play and could be a top liner, but it all depends on character. I would not be upset to trade a late pick or player for him. He may not go as cheap as some think and will attract some interest.
  18. There are no real untouchables except maybe Grimes and Watts. In reality these are the only 2 we wouldn't swap a number 1 pick for. In some sort of order Jack Grimes Colin Sylvia Nathan Jones (under-rated and a big part of our future) Aaron Davey Liam Jurrah Colin Garland Matthew Warnock James Frawley Jamie Bennell Jack Watts
  19. brilliant!
  20. Please God let it be true!!
  21. Yes he is, he beat me to it.
  22. His kicking was pretty good yesterday, and some games he has played this year he has hit many of his targets. In others he rarely hits a target. For mine it's not a skill issue. He takes the game on in all facets attemtting to run the lines (when he should dish) and hit low percentage targets. He just needs to temper that a little bit. I still think that Jones will be part of the beating heart of the midfield.
  23. Yeah have to agree with the that. I think that we were clearly the better side today and it was quite difficult to engineer the result. Credit to the players.
  24. Whats with the change 45, preparing to pass the baton??
  25. I saw that too, could not believe what I was seeing.
