He really was no good, I thought that Cheney's negatives outweighed his positives too. This^^

Maric doesn't have either the foot-speed or discipline to perform that role. Bennell doesn't yet have the body strength or defensive smarts yet but may end up with that job. Clint plays that role atm as we have few other defenders capable of keeping up with pacy small forwards. You could swap him for Daniel Bell if you like but you are getting more of the same.

Petterd, Garland and Rivers - signed!

Great point. Either Jurrah, Watts, or Bate would struggle to be the focal point. In the same side however the combination should start to stretch defences and you would expect one or two of the three to pop up and kick a few. It will be great when our entire forward line as a unit is considered dangerous. -
Melbourne player wants to go to the Gold Coast

My kids really want to go too, we missed out on water-world last time. The weather was crappy. It was fun though we did all the worlds and we camped up on Mt Tamborine, which was better than staying in town I thought -

Who is speculating? -
Bail is the sleeper our list. He surprised a lot of people when he played his few games earlier in the year. He is one of the most well rounded footballers on the list. Think Trengove and Grimes. Strong, quick, good hands, skills and endurance. His groins are what might hold him back.
-
I agree. He needs time and is clearly not ready for senior footy. He is playing only because we don't have another feasible option other than flogging the dead horse that is PJ. Fitzpatrick will be given a run in the second ruck/forward role sometime. Maybe soon. I thought he looked ok playing this role at Werribee on Sat.
-
Fitzpatrick played a lot of the Werribee game in the ruck. He contested well against bigger bodies and won his share of the hitouts. he did not win a lot of the footy but when he did he looked good. He is very quick and nimble for a big guy. He obviously needs to build strength but it would not surprise me to see him selected sooner rather than later.
-
Our forward line was as or more efficient, we didn't get it inside fifty. I do agree that our forward set up was messy, Jurrah would have made little difference today IMO.

Talent is not enough. Desire is of even higher importance. As is team oriented football. If you continue to get a game when you are lacking in the latter, you're getting a free ride and you lack the incentive to improve in these areas.

I agree with the ins of the OP, but there would be no way that I would include Morton on his VFL performance. He played an ordinary game. Got a bit of the ball, took a few uncontested marks but panicked under pressure quite afew times. I don't know how he was named in the best. Bail was super, Sylvia and Jurrah were good. Those three players could make a big difference to our side.
-
Don't simplify the clanger. Most often they are caused by applied pressure caused by a team that is able to execute thier zone correctly. They are not always the result of a player not being able to execute the skill. St Kilda are experts at closing down the corridor.
-
Yes both teams were playing at 100% intensity. The Geelong win goes to prove my point rather than the opposite. If you watched the game and you know your footy you would know this. They played a tough game and would have beaten most if not all other sides today.

Bails had a good day. The players played with intensity and to a plan save for some big brain fades. I reckon the plan would have been to be within striking distance at 3 qtr time and roll the dice in the last. It didnt work. The Saints are at the top of thier game at thier home ground. They certainly appeared to be playing at 100% effort. I am not unhappy with today's effort and thought there were some good signs.
-
Dude, we we played st kilda's brand of footy for three quarters and stayed with them. We needed to roll the dice in the last. We didnt have the personell. I actually thought on the whole the coaches and players had a good game today.
-
Expect for us to roll the dice. Could be a forty point loss, or we get a roll on and go close
-
Perplexing player. Showed real intensity today. What is it that makes him unable to bring that to senior footy?
-
Mate I could not have been more impressed. I understand that it was one quarter of a VFL resreves game but he looks to be a perfect type for the modern game. Look forward to seeing him in the red and blue soon.

I claimed Bail as my boy before he played a game and on todays game I am very happy with my choice. He was absolutely terrific.
-
He moved and tackled well. Laid a heavy tackle in the second where he got himslelf bewteen the ground and the falling player. It would have tested his shoulder. He got up fine. His short kicking was a little off early and he was getting frustrated with himself. He really grew as the game went on and his hands got stickier after fumbling a couple early.

Just got back from Werribee. Watched the first quarter of the reserves. Blease started on half back and had about 10 possies for the quarter linking up all over the park and hitting blokes on the [censored] at full pace. Kicked a magic goal deep on the pocket on the run. He is one classy footballer. He was blowing hard when he came off for a rest. At one point he got a kick at half back, speared a pass to a leading player got the ball off him, kicked into the guts, hit him on [censored], got it back, hit bloke again on [censored] inside 50. All of the kicks needed to be centimetre perfect as players had opponents bearing done. I would suggest only Flash at our club could have done what he did. Tapscott was also in things early missing a couple of shots at goal, heard him complain about a lack of "drive" in his leg to the medicos. Obviously not back to full strength from the op. He was very much getting himself into contests and was at the bottom of the pack on a few occasions.
