  1. Ordinary post. Macdonald's been a great pick up. His experience and hardness at the ball is very valuable to this team.
  2. I would like to see Hughes in for Petterd - or even Bail (albeit with some reshuffling ie, not a direct swap). But I think we need PJ to replace Martin, and then have PJ and Jamar rotating through the forward line all night - with some crumbers running off them. McKenzie must return too.
  3. I'd like to see them give him a go, though I expect Miller will get the nod. Would like to see PJ in for Martin as well.
  4. I think Gumbleton will be an absolute gun - but he's been in the system for about 4 years and is only just starting to come on. Had a lot of injuries though. And for those saying of you saying this is the 50,000 Jack Watts thread etc, a big part of this site involves a Demons chat-room - and, in this regard, pick one in 2008 was a pretty important pick for this club. A lot of people are genuinely interested in seeing how this particular pick is developing/progressing.
  5. Hurley. Pick 5 2008. My concern with Watts is that he may not have enough mongrel to ever be an elite key position forward. Merely an observation and I sincerely hope I'm wrong - perhaps we should second him to the Shinboners for a couple of years.
  6. It'd be interesting to know what the football department really thinks about Watts. It's likely that Watts will become a very good player, but for pick number one in a reasonable draft, the signs aren't fantastic. Everyone talks about NikNat, but I keep wondering whether we actually should've picked Hurley.
  7. Any team that has an in-form Rivers and Bail listed as emergencies is a team on its way to the finals. Surely. And, to think, Morton, Jurrah and Wona are probably due to return in the next month to six weeks. Cannot believe how hard it is to get in this side at the moment. That's not to mention Tapscott, Gysberts, Strauss, Blease and a few others.
  8. I'm with you too, Jamars Girl. He's probably the single most important bloke on our list at the moment. Wish we'd locked him into a longer deal last year.
  9. I like Grimes in the back half, rather than the midfield. We are setting up everything through our run off the half back line - simply should not change that. And Grimes is instrumental in this. Despite the comments of some on this loop, Rivers still has plenty of good football in front of him. Perhaps Rivers for Garland (who still looks a bit underdone). If not, Rivers may need to wait for an injury to get in (God forbid). The defence is working very well at the moment and it's not obvious where you'd fit him in.
  10. Round 5 appears not to be. I hear they sang the club song twice and would love to see that footage. Technically, I don't know how to download video and put it on you tube - hence, my request (which I expect may also assist some others).
  11. Possibly a weird request, but I'd be grateful if someone could post every club song sung this year on a single thread in you tube format. I have a Apple and, despite subscribing to Bigpond, I seem always to be blocked from streaming Bigpond videos and hence the club songs. This is all too annoying for words. I actually have all of our wins backed up on Foxtel IQ, but it'd be heaps more convenient if the club songs were on one thread that I (and presumably many others) could access from the computer. Thanks in advance if anyone can do this.
  12. I'm stoked we picked Gysberts ahead of Lucas. I suspect we would've taken Melksham if he was available at pick 11, but I think Gysberts will be a gun for this club. I reckon we nailed this draft.
  13. Also, I've not seen the club song - channel 7 and Fox didn't show it. Has anyone got a link to it?
  14. I agree - post of the year. We've only found that courage in recent years (b/c of Stynes, Connolly, Schwab, Bailey), but I totally agree that we have it in spades now. For instance, it takes courage for a bloke to remain as a rookie at this club in the face of offers for senior list positions at other AFL clubs - and to then tackle like a man possessed when given the sniff of an opportunity. Jordie McKenzie embodies some of the new found courage that is developing within our playing list.
  15. Yep, I really like the look of the guy. Bought a new guernsey yesterday and nearly put his number on it - but just had to go with number 16.
  16. Same here. Very proud of the club today.
  17. Completely ridiculous post - fortunately the Football Department would realise this. Dunn and Bate are both very important players for us.
  18. Watching a reply of the game. Final quarter - Bail is on fire. Just set up the Green and Dunn goals. This kid is bloody good.
  19. I reckon Joel Mac will be a top pick up for us. He'll looked really, really good yesterday.
  20. Post of the year. Thanks for that - served to confirm my suspicions too.
  21. I agree. And, despite what many here might say, he's got a bloody big engine and has loads of experience (which cannot be under-estimated when fielding such a young team).
  22. I've said to my mates all year - Jamar is the player we can least afford to have out injured at the moment. In a sense therefore, he's currently our most important player.
  23. Very, very good game. He looks like he belongs.
  24. I think he can be justifiably pleased. But for a couple of things not wholly within his control (ie, unbelievable umpiring and the inexperience of some very inexperienced players), we would have won. A bloody good effort - we were clearly the better team on the day, despite the scoreline.
  25. I think yesterday was more than merely a step in the right direction - it was unbelievable. We played a team which is one of the favourites for the flag. They were virtually at full strength. Meanwhile, we had a team of full of kids with perhaps 6 of our best 22 out. And we essentially won the game. We were the better team, yet got cruelled by very poor umpiring and our own inexperience. Please pay more credit where it's due. It was truly an exceptional performance in the circumstances.
