Welcome to Demonland: Pick 11
My first thought was that this is step one of a cunning plan. My second thought was that perhaps, outside of the top handful, our recruitment team don't rate this draft crop

Any word on Angus?
Tom Browne's appearance on my TV screen always causes me to enter a period of deep reflection. I'm led to review my life in an effort to recall what heinous act I've committed to deserve the corpulent head of this gormless twit to invade the peace and serenity of my lounge room. Somewhere I must have been a proper bastid. It's not what you know........

Any word on Angus?
That ignores the fact that Gus has played 6 years without any concussion incidents. In that time he's taken some pretty big hits. Hits that have had my heart in my mouth hoping he gets up unconcussed. And he has. The hit from Maynard would have laid out anyone. Concussion history or not.

Harrison Petty
Where is old mate TGR when you need him. Petty is one of his beloved "multi dimensional talls". You draft players at any point in the draft and develop them to get to the precise point that HP is at now. Entering his prime. That's where you get full return on your investment. Those looking at prospective draft picks for Petty as "setting us up for the future" should remind themselves that Harry is only 23 and should be viewed as a big part of not just our present but our future as well. And FWIW I'm one of those who believe that we were only a fit Harry Petty away from winning the whole damn thing in 2023

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Rubbish source I know but on SEN this morning there was talk of the AFL agenda items and that the 5 man interchange was in the mix again. If this comes to pass, I'm keeping Grundy. That gives us the flexibility to effectively run with 2 first rucks. Club needs to get a look at the AFL crystal ball before we shunt him off

2023 Best and Fairest
Always has. Which is the sole reason Robbie Flower only won one B&F. Instead of about 10.

I have never seen a horse do this before.
There was a horse in Hong Kong who was exceptionally talented but would pull some funky tricks in races. Don't recall him getting his act together in the race and winning though. He's out at Living Legends now. That was something else Can you imagine the punters trying to piece together their torn up tote tickets ?

Farewell James Harmes
That's always been Harmsy's problem though. The gap between his best and his worst is huge. Both in game and in season. Just on ability alone there's not much he can't do. He can take a hanger, can pass lace out to a lead, can explode from a stoppage, can kick goals. On ability he's pretty much got it all. But then he'll also handball to a team mate's feet, miss a target by a mile, go missing for large parts of a game, get caught with the ball etc etc For me he's been the most frustrating player due to his output not matching his capacity. If he leaves I'll wish him well. If he stays I'll also wish him well and hope he has a year where he consistently delivers at the high end of his capabilities. No matter what, he's a Demon premiership hero and I'll never forget that pass to Fritta.

AFLW: Rd 04 vs Hawthorn
A few random thoughts following my B. Mackin right leg post. Casey Sherriff will probably never get in the votes. Just doesn't get enough of the footy. But 2 or 3 times a game she has a "right place right time" moment which often result in goals. Despite not kicking bags, Tayla Harris is having a hell of a season. Gets to so many contests, very team oriented and is a wrecking ball when the opposition has the ball. Paxy might play until she's 50 Georgia Campbell is improving by the week. Fantastic heir apparent to Loz. Goldrick is a modern day Rhino Richards. Tyla Hanks has long reminded me of a male player and it annoys me that I've not been able to pin down who it is. Her low to the ground running style, her vision, her change of direction and her ability to weave through traffic with a shift of her hips. I'm now thinking it's a composite of Gary Ablett Jnr, Cyril Rioli and Lally Bamblett.

Jimmy Munro retires from VFL
The sort of bloke you'd love to have as a team mate. Thanks Moose. Glad you got that well deserved flag.

AFLW: Rd 04 vs Hawthorn
As well as her pace Blaithin has a serious right leg on her, particularly for a cross coder. Gets good distance and is pretty accurate. I struggle to think of a better ball user from those imported from other sports
