I can't see AFL helping us with money and not on the field with some draft help. If we continue to perform on the field like this year we will need more money. I t just makes sense to help us on the field as well. I could also imagine a Coach coming to us would want an AFL guarantee of some help on the field as well. As mentioned in other threads it doesn't have to be a PP. It could be a mini draft type of help with say two picks we have to trade. That could get us some experienced players and an extra draft pick or two in this years draft without compromising the draft.

It is starting to look like we are facing an orchestrated opposition by the other clubs to stop us getting a PP pick. If the AFL agrees I hope we go as hard as hell for a couple of mini draft picks that we have to trade away. That could be better than a PP anyway. We would get more than one player for a start.

I can't stand to look at Rudd. He is a truly despicable piece of work. I would love to see him lose his seat. Funny, so many of his colleagues think the same as me. Mark Latham, who is also an interesting character, said that "the only people who like Rudd, are those who haven't met him." Anyway, back to the footy and bananas.

There is no doubt absolutely none that the drug was declared illegal in 2010 or 2011. What I think they will base their defence on is not that the drug wasn't declared illegal, but rather that we can't be certain that is the drug they were given. In other words they admit they were going to use it, but they can't be sure that is what they got. I can't see that getting up. As far as the AFL is concerned the club will be slammed and the players will escape penalty. That is different to ASADA who will seek to ban any users, no matter what they thought of its illegality.

They will not get off. We now have an admission from the captian that they took an illegal drug, thinking it was legal. That is no defence to ASADA. Further the AFL will be fuurious, as I have said before, that they gave drugs to kids and can't tell them even today what they took and what are the side effects. This is a disgusting event that makes any other issue in the AFL seem like nothing.

Saw film of Crowley barrelling into Boomer and sending him sprawling before the game started. Umpire right there tell Crowley to calm down and no free kick. Commentators furious as no free kick paid. Then I contrast that with the soft bump on Jones of the Saints, by Dunn, when Garland is about to kick out and reversal and Nick gets a free from 10 metres out. That is just so inconsistent. Amazing how weak sides cop that so often. There were four pathetic free goals given to the Saints, all controversial, yet not one to us. Funny that.

Just finished reading the book on Black Caviar by Gerard Whately, a very good read. Today I was in Chadstone shopping centre in the book shop and bought two books. One was the Master, the story of Bart Cummings, by the the greatest racing writer in the world, Les Carlyon. The second was a bit smaller and is called Life is Sport and Sport is Life, by Tami and Paul Roos. Thought it might be interesting.
