It speaks volumes about our changed recruiting, that a kid like Oliver, has assumed such an important role in our side and 2 more in Viney and Brayshaw, will be so sorely missed in the next few games.

Did someone call for a lawyer?

We have on AFL site, 6 regular top 22 players injured while Hawks have 2. Will make it that much harder. Anyway, teams under full strength seem to do well against us, so here is hoping.
-
Yes I do. But that is not what you said. You said we were the worst. A talent unmatched by other supporters. I think we are no different to most other teams' supporters. In fact after 52 years since the last flag I think we deserve a medal.
-
Ok. Can't argue as I haven't seen the game yet as away. Just looked at the photo.
-
Disagree. Looks like Ollie is trying to help him by pushing him away.

The "They're out here" Get Rid of the Zone Defence Thread
Redleg replied to Forest Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our Plan A clearly isn't. I know that a young inexperienced side needs time and won't do everything correctly, however I think it is demoralising for the team, if they have to keep doing something that is not working on a particular day, instead of implementing a small change that gives them the chance of winning. BTW what happens if we discover in a year that our plan is the wrong one, what then, another year or two trying another one? -
Melbourne to ditch Alice Springs game from next year?
Redleg replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Count me in. $20 is $800k on 40000 members and no travel expenses. 2 more games at the G would also make membership more attractive and a win or two extra would be very attractive. -

Brendan Bolton says he disagrees. Yes he has more experienced players, but they were there the last 3 years. I understand what implementing a game plan means, but blind faith in it being guaranteed to work in years to come is naive. It won't work on some days and that is guaranteed, therefore you don't need a whole new game plan, you need to make some simple changes such as man on man, or loose defender etc. This will help us win or stop thrashings when we are off. Where is the evidence of that? Also wins are invaluable to young sides. I know it is not all about winning if there is a bigger picture but for God sake, footballers are not all total idiots and can adapt to slight modifications in games. Nothing is new, they will have done it before. Better selection won't hurt either. -

There is no doubt in my mind that other coaches are planning to beat us, while we just continue with our game plan without modification. If we lose the Coach trots out the, we didn't play well, or didn't stick to the plan, or they were too big and experienced for us, or we should have played player X and made more changes. I understand we have a game plan but sometimes it won't work or we will not be able to follow it. On those occasions we need an alternate plan or two. I haven't seen any evidence of that. While it is commendable to try and execute the game plan, winning games now is also invaluable. The odd scrap, man on man or whatever that gets a win shouldn't be underestimated. I fear our Coaches don't see it that way. -
The older sides with many over 30 can lose form quickly. It happened to Freo and will happen to North and Hawks at some stage. When your best players are all past 30 it is a bad thing for continuity. We are so well placed with a young list and with our best players being a group of youngsters developing together. We just need to add 1-2 more each year to keep the list in a good position. The older list clubs have to try and replace several champions in one or two drafts and as we have seen it is very difficult unless they bottom out for a few years.

The AFL will do something about this now that a club in Swans, through Longmire, has raised it. The 6 frees against us for Mathieson, would have gone unnoticed by the AFL.

Thanks WJ brings back memories.

Good to see the thread living up to its high standards while I am away. Saw the Lions game on AFL on phone in Vancouver and now in Astoria Oregon and will rely on Demonland for updates of Port game, as we are on a ship bound for San Francisco and will be at sea during the game. Well that is the footy content you, can get back to more important topics.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Redleg replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Venom appears to have a contact at the club, he is often fed information -
Can we vote on that?
-
OMG. Are you serious?

Settle down. He is a professional footballer whose career could end at any time. Let him consider his position and decide if our offer is fair before turning on him.

McQ what did Barrett say?
-
Thought he wasn't having a great season. I apologise Christian. Get well and come back when healthy, to give us your best.

CP has more talent than Colin had. Both Bulls though, so similar in that respect.

Sorry my mistake. -
Let OMac spend some time with Brendan and Justin and we will have a good player. He needs development both physically and in game experience.
