  1. That is just one example of a good pick, a bit later and yet 12 clubs passed on him, with a few, several times. This happens all the time. Gawn was 34, Grundy 19, Tim Kelly overlooked for 5 drafts, Darling 26, Hird in the 80's, etc etc etc. That will always happen. It is more about nailing early picks. that should nearly be a given with all the time and money invested in following players for up to 2 years. BTW, Fyfe clearly has improved as when he was in year 11, he played in the 3rd 18, yes one of the best footballers we have seen couldn't make his year 11 top 2 footy teams. Clearly he has developed since then and that does happen.
  2. Sorry, can I shout you a coffee?
  3. Also interesting that if Neale stayed a Docker, Fyfe probably doesn't win. Plus, if Kelly had been traded last year, Dangerfield probably wins. A lot of luck in footy, on and off the field.
  4. Well it's actually not hindsight, if they declare their choices before the draft. As an example most on DL thought we would take Daniel Talia if he was there at our pick. He was and we took Jordan Gysberts. It was a shock to most DL's. It got much more shocking as the years rolled on. That is but one of many examples. I know drafting is an inexact science, but we have had far too many misses. I won't mention wasted early picks in Toumpas, Cook and Morton as that would only upset people. Experts working on drafting for a year or two with a group of players, should be able to nail top 10 picks most of the time. Not always, but most of the time. If they can't, they are no good at their job. As we know, drafting and trading are the ways to build a good list. Stuff that up and success becomes nearly impossible.
  5. Have we picked up any new players yet. I will be hoping for a Giants win, as there are more Tiger fans to be miserable with a loss.
  6. Are we sure about this punching thing, I thought he was p-ssed and made advances to one of the females employed by the club and went a bit far.
  7. How did he cost them a flag?
  8. Good point. That said, we could probably get a lot for next years first round pick.
  9. Agree with you except for Petty, who I think is going to be a very good player in a couple of years. If you mean now, well I wouldn't lose Petty for Tomlinson now either, if that clarifies. I still think BTW, that OMac can improve and give us value.
  10. Well I can give you some, stop the lawyer bashing or risk losing the manor.
  11. That speaks more about you Daisy, than it does about lawyers, who give free advice regularly.
  12. Can we get this weekend out of the way, so that we can concentrate on the important stuff, trading and drafting.
  13. Agree. Most sides have 2-3 ruckman on the list. We have 2 and a developing 3rd. By the time Bradtke is ready, if he gets there, Max will be in his 30's. Tomlinson is not a ruckman, he is a swingman.
  14. It seems many already know.
  15. No you couldn't ( wouldn't ).
  16. They are hard to get. Pies have won 2 flags in the last 60 years and 1 in the last 28. We of course have none in the last 55 years.
  17. Chris Judd said on Footy Classified a few weeks ago that he thought GC would get about pick 10 as a PP. Everyone seems to think pick 2 is a given. I think Judd has heard this from someone he trusts. We will see,
  18. Pies thought that, until they did.
  19. I know there are some, I said not many do.
  20. You could truly argue that the Greene fiasco truly galvanised the Giants.
  21. Not many blokes leave after playing in a GF. Wonder if Giants will resign him now.
  22. I would have laughed at the suggestion a few weeks ago, but now he has had a doctor operate and say he should be ok, a new partner and kids reason to forge an AFL career and what seems to be a major attitude change to life. He is low risk and high reward and is a free throw. He is exactly what we wouldn't do and look where we are. The Tigers win a flag and pick up Stack and Marlion Pickett, I think his name is, after taking a bloke we avoided, who is their best player.
  23. This might be why you would consider it: "I've made some wrong decisions in my time and that's put me in some s--- positions but I've learned from those," Bennell said. "I just think I've still got a lot more in the tank. I've come this far and I'm not going to give up, just because of my latest injury. I'm not a person who will just chuck the towel in and give up. "I love training and I love football. Without football, who knows where I'll be? "Getting a third opportunity at the highest level would be life-changing for myself and my partner and my family – it would be the luckiest thing. It would mean a lot to me and my family."
  24. Hope you are right.
