  1. They are talking about later in the season maybe. No spot atm and not ready either.
  2. I see him signing a deal with us taking him to FA.
  3. Who?

My boy Deakyn Smith played a very good game on sunday for Casey. Hope he can keep on improving and push for the senior team. Van Rooyen looks good and Howes could be another on the horizon. I actually liked Baker kicking out, as he ran out and kicked long nearly to the middle of the ground each time. Maybe in the seniors Bowey can do the same, instead of the same old kick to the pack by May about to the defensive 50m line. It would allow more options from the kick out and even allow May to be a target for the occasional kickout, changing up our predictability in this area.

Good times on the lily pad.
  6. Who?

Ah Jacko. Our 3rd and heading to be our best.

Quiet times on DL these days. Has Jacko signed an extension yet?
  9. I am very keen to see how Deakyn Smith develops, as I can see him as a Salem type off half back. Of course he needs improvement and consistency, but I think he is a chance for an unheralded player.

Hawks have adopted a fast, spread game, that older slow teams struggle with. They also have an in form couple of key forwards and a couple of small forward goal sneaks and that helps.
  11. I just can’t believe how this guy has turned his game around. A couple of years ago he was my number 1 delist and now he is a fixture in our team and deservedly so. Well done ANB.
  12. Sensational Bowey first half.
  13. Sorry WYL, but unless you are Bevo in disguise, you can't say that. Only Bevo really knows what he knew.
  14. His career is not over, but maybe it is with Fox. He may not need legal advice if Fox paid out his full contract.

I have thought this for a while too. In the meantime the Hawks are paying him for this year while he refreshes.
  16. Good point. Bevo has got off basically without any penalty, other than having to read a statement that someone else probably wrote for him. To me he gave the appearance of somebody reluctantly reading an apology, that he didn't really believe in. The club has donated $20000.00 to one of it's own charities, big deal. This bloke bullied a journo on national TV, without giving him any chance of reply. It was disgusting. For the AFL to not punish Bevo, seemingly condoning extreme bullying, at its own media conference, is just more hypocritical behaviour by this organization, yet again. The Morris incident the next day is irrelevant, unless Bevo knew of the Morris comments when he made his and then played a part in their distribution, which seems very unlikely. If someone employed by the Dogs or AFL, or wherever, is behind the release of the Morris audio, that person probably deserves the same fate as Morris, as distributing it to the public and hurting an innocent person, is a worse crime than Morris's, which was making some drunken, repulsive comments, in a private setting.
  17. Any news on Salem?
  18. The crowd size is one of the AFL's own making. The AFL chose TV ratings, over crowd attendance and they can live with it. Playing the game midweek at night, when young kids and their parents looking after them can't go and maybe even some elderly supporters and you have decreased the attendance by 20-30000. I would guess if that game was played saturday afternoon with all the hype, it might have got 80-90000 attending. It also doesn't help when the fans of one side don't go.
  19. You are not on your own. Total public bullying, of a young journo, without any right of reply. Disgusting behaviour, by a Coach who has lost it. I hope Fox Footy bans the Dogs from all interviews and publicity for the next few months. The AFL should be horrified at this behaviour, at their own media conference. $100k fine would not be out of the question. Lets hear how the other journos treat this disgusting episode, on the opening night of the season. Wow, if Goody is a bully privately, from a few comments to a doctor, this guy has made that look like a tea party. PS: What about the journo's mental health, after that slanderous, public, verbal assault. Again, disgusting behaviour Bevo and you should be ashamed of yourself.
  20. Well since the players can’t even look at the umpires anymore, it is important that we have a large Demon crowd making a lot of noise, which we know affects umpires in close calls.
  21. Unless I misunderstood the AFL email, everyone attending needs a reserved seat.
  22. Won’t be. AFL has declared first round no walk up.

    Great!
  24. Well done Dees. All adds to our culture. Dick and Carol are lifelong Dees and would have got a real kick out of seeing the cup up close. Dick absolutely deserved this as our past CEO, among other roles and I am very happy for him.

Leaving the greatest Demon out, if Allen Jacovich was playing in this side, he would kick 100 in a season, while eating his Big Mac meal during the game. Clearly several of the Demon stars of years gone by would be as good, if not better in this current team. One of the most pleasing things for me is the depth in this squad. I can’t recall this quality of depth in the last 50 years. Thank you Jason Taylor, one of the best recruits ever to the Dees.
