CHANGES: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Apparently they are looking at a VFL game, on the end of season bye round, between round 23 and first week of finals.

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Any chance with 50 seconds left and a throw in on the half back flank, a forward or two would go down back to help defend?

His attack on the ball is ferocious.

Max shooting for goal seriously. Flip the ball, run to the right and try and hook it back. Seriously?

The pow wow
I still believe a lot of it is to do with injuries, which has robbed us of player consistency and copping shorter breaks, especially after travel interstate the week before. This shorter break, in my opinion, is a reason for our fade outs, late into the last quarter. Reduced team pressure is obviously another big factor.

Well for example Treacy, Meek and the pick to get Cadman would be reasonable. 2 big Victorian forwards and a ruck.

But would you be happy if he stays for 2 years and it all starts again? If he signed a long term contract I would be very happy. If he is likely to want to go in say 2 years, I would try and do a deal now. I still think we could solve key forward and ruck issues for a good trade. A Freo key forward and ruck and a top key forward in the draft, could all be doable.

Us winning is all that matters. PS: Without any injuries of course.

TEAMS: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
It’s been amazing how many times we have played sides at nearly full strength.

So Harmes injured, JJ injured, BBB, Lever and Tom out, umpires as usual with Dogs and we had 2 days less between games and get run over in last few minutes. That’s a pretty good effort by us.

Do you say that from knowledge, or just opinion?

We don’t have to accept any Freo offer, that’s the point. A player we get, might be better than our current option and then is best 22. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a star. As an example, Larkey of the Roos is no star, but is better than our current options.

Well not sure you will get an accurate response, other than guesswork.

Does it matter if we know or not?

But we don't have to. I would insist on at least their first and if they get the Dog's 10 for Lobbe that one too. Or they can use theirs, the Lobb pick and Logue pick, to try and get a top 2 pick plus something back to them. It depends on what JT sees as our target in the draft. We could get Treacy, Meek and say 14 and 10. It is going to be an interesting trade period for us.

I know this could sound silly, but I just wonder if the club sees some deficiencies in LJ's game and accept that at some stage he would like to go home and see this as an opportunity to solve our key forward and ruck issues, by perhaps getting a key forward and ruck from Freo, plus a pick good enough to get another key forward in the draft. That could end up 3 players for one, who are all best 22 for us. Tom and BBB could be on their last year next year and that allows refreshing of the list. M.Brown will be gone and who knows what the plans are for Weid. JVR is still to play and that would cover our key forwards and rucks and we could still draft or rookie a young developing ruck. I believe that we do hold the upper hand with this deal, if it happens at all. IMO LJ will not screw the Dees. So unless Freo satisfies us, he stays for a couple of years, or maybe even longer if he feels Freo has let him down.

That to me indicates what I have said for a while. Jacko will go to Freo if we can do a deal and if not, will sign for a couple of years. IMO he is happy to return home if a fair deal can be done and if not, he will not be devastated to stay a couple of more years and then maybe try again or even stay longer. I think this is about an opportunity that may be available, but obviously cant happen until the season is over. Too much water to go under the bridge with various players and deals.
