For all those suggesting we give a first round pick for Grundy, the Suns have put pick 7 on the table for any club that takes Bowes and his last two years of a back ended contract. That’s right you buy pick 7 by taking on Bowes and his contract. As I posted earlier, we should offer a low pick, or an exchange of picks, as we are taking on a 5 year salary dump.

I don’t think Max is a key forward, but are we judging him in a year where he was banged up with a few injuries and playing to a game plan that doesn’t suit him? Max used sparingly up forward and getting one out, is a different proposition to the one going up in the pocket with BBB and 3 defenders smashing them. A fresher, fitter, Max, going forward for short bursts and being in space, is a real problem for the opposition. He won’t be out marked too often one on one. That’s how I see him being best used by us, with Grundy doing most of the heavy lifting. He can work on his kicking for goal and that can improve and Grundy will prolong his career and have him fresher and fitter in finals.

That’s not the issue, it was a discussion about what our salary cap is and realistically no fan knows what the true figures are. If we made a late play for Cerra, then unless we are absolute liars or fools, we had room to pay him what we were offering. That was my point.

We are talking about salary cap room and we were right into him. We therefore had room. Your assertion we don’t have room for an A grade player is another wild guess. You haven’t got a clue whether we have or not, so stop acting like you really know our salary cap details. Unless you are Tim Lamb or work with him, you have no better idea than the rest of us.

How do you know we can’t afford an A grade player? What is the amount of money left in our salary cap next year? It was widely reported that Cerra nominated us to his manager, but was advised we couldn’t better or equal Carlton’s pick 5 and he went to them instead. I didn’t make it up. Cerra would be a Demon if we had pick 5 last year, or he had waited a year. We were right into him, so clearly could afford him.

Apparently the Suns are going to clear players proactively, to reduce the size of their larger list. This will also help to protect their stars from future raids, by having more salary cap space, to pay them better. Who do we want from the Suns, if anyone?

We have Tom with 2 years to go at probably more and he has just re injured his foot after also being out for most of the season and BBB with 2 years left, also at good money, with a degenerating knee. This stuff happens on player lists all the time.

Maybe we should ask Clarry, Tracc, Viney, etc in the middle and maybe Kozzie and Spargo in the forward 50, if they would be happy with Grundy rucking for them.
