And maybe Tom Mitchell and a couple of others I forget atm.

But despite all that players still want to go to the Pies and other clubs like them.

Agree, what Pendles obviously meant was, if he reduces his contract by about 50%. I remember Grundy saying at the time he was thrilled to be a Pie for life after knocking back other clubs offers.

Yes that makes sense. He signs a 7 year deal because they love him and really want and need him. 2 years later after doing the same to a team mate, they tell him he can take a large pay cut, or is free to look around, as they need to adjust their salary cap. He now feels he has been lied to and gets angry with them. He sees the writing on the wall and meets the Dees and is impressed. He tells the Pies I am disappointed with you, but will leave, but go only to the Dees, if you can do a deal with them and I get my full contract pay, otherwise I stay. That is how I see the scenario playing out.

I won’t swear to it, but I thought I saw a quote somewhere from Grundy saying he wanted to stay at Pies. Certainly several media quotes from the “experts “ have said this as well.

They were/are both angry and dissatisfied because they were asked to leave. Both wanted to stay, take that to the bank. They were happy with their contracts and team mates.

I suppose if we had better players for his position than Spargo, they would be playing instead of him.

One of the problems is players like Spargo make space, flap their arms and yell for the pass and then are totally ignored. It is clearly better according to our coach, to bomb it long to the outnumbered contest and ignore players making space.
  9. That will probably restrict their trades in to Taranto and Hopper. That’s a big trade week anyway for the Tigers.

At least we might be inclined then to stop the left forward pocket bomb as our our only method of scoring.

    What, both of them?

If he goes, unfortunately this compo is looking likely, if we assume about 3 years at approx $500k-$600k. Our absolute best pick would be around 35.
  13. Then as he probably told them some time ago he was in and as you said they have done their due diligence over a long period of time, why not just wait for the GF to end and then announce it. Don't waste people's time and effort with a mock process, when you already have your man. I wonder how the other applicants feel. It was a farce, no matter how they spin it. Announced as interviewed today and then appointed. Oh yeah. PS: It's fun to crapp on Essendon, they have had years of doing it to us. .
  14. I actually think that is a good effort, when you have 3 blokes hanging off you at every contest and it's not kicked to you once, but bombed high into the left pocket.

De Goey has taken the Pies to the cleaners. 5 year contract instead of 4.
  16. But was only interviewed yesterday for the first time, after he said he was available. Is this a minute of the Interview? Coaching Committee head Robert Walls asks B. Scott do you want to Coach Essendon FC. B. Scott answers in the affirmative. R. Walls congratulates Scott on being appointed Coach. J. Lewis asks R. Walls what are Scott's plans for the club. K.Sheedy and D. Barham sitting in, tell Lewis to shut up and mind his own business. Lewis stands and asks where he collects his payment. Meeting ends, drinks are provided. Phone rings, S. Dank on the line asking if anyone has found his missing files yet.
  17. I wonder what the Club told Yze, you have the job unless Scott says he will do it, without going through any process of course.

Not sure that is right about a high pick back. While he is an ok player, his salary is that of a star. Pick 7 is what makes it attractive, so any pick back would be inconsequential.
  19. What an absolute farce. Scott has interview today and appointed later the same day. Why have a Coaching Committee? Just appoint the first senior Coach who is prepared to do the job. Complete joke and waste of time for people like Yze and other applicants and probably a distraction for their clubs as well. The media hype will now kick in.
  20. Ethan the news breaker gazumped again. Where were you and what are you doing? You can’t have old Redleg continually beating you to the news. We know you are the best, so pull your finger out.
  21. Unless we are very professional and don't leak.
  22. I don't.
  23. I just spilt my wine.
  24. These trade guys are great. Asked how will the deal get done, SOS gives no detail, but says he thinks it will get done. It is riveting stuff. If these guys were garbologists, the streets would be covered in rubbish. I wonder if the criteria for being a Trade Expert is, having seen a game of footy?
  25. Reckon that is probably wrong too.
