Could be just lowering the price talk, we are mildly interested, if it works good, if not we move on. Meanwhile Grundy will tell Pies it’s either Club X or I stay a Pie.

When do they announce team?
-
Thanks Dee S I will try it. If not then AFL app on phone.

Joel Smith set to sign new contract extension.

Melk turns 31 end of this month and has earned another year. Hibbo will be 33 in January and is probably going to have to make way for Bowey, Hunt etc to play more. I would offer him a contract to play and coach with Casey for a year or two. -
7 Queensland?

Does anyone know if this game will be on Kayo?
-
That is a remarkable figure given our demographic.

Agree and I am in your small minority. Hibbo could still be a great playing mentor at Casey for a couple of years, leading into a Casey Assistant role. -
Don’t mention “fight”.

No I just looked at AFL tables, so could be wrong. Happy for him, after I retired him last year after the flag. -
Yes say” no comment”. Doesn’t matter what people take from that. It’s not a lie. Agree with SWYL that he definitely lay down in his second year. Didn’t go in at all, it was very obvious. We were paying him to play and he didn’t. Had committed to GWS to leave us in his first year, as later came out and bagged everyone on his way out including our current Captain. I wouldn’t let him clean Max’s boots. As to his mental health I can’t really comment, other than to say it was really only Dees fans that were angry with him and after a few games at GWS he was a GWS player and that was that. Anyway enough about TS and back to LJ, I still hope he stays, but if he goes I trust JT, Richo and Tim Lamb to get us a good deal.

Maybe not a travesty, but undignified.

I don’t recall LJ lying to a dying President, or the entire Melbourne membership and fan base and for that matter the entire viewing public. TS said on theTV News and to other media, that he was only in Sydney to have a look around, when the next day videos of him in GWS gear, were for sale, that had obviously been made weeks ago. Clearly he had committed to GWS a long time before that Sydney lie fest. I don’t disagree with your characterisation of Melbourne then and now, nor the TS family situation, but TS was not a child and didn’t have to keep lying. LJ at this point has said nothing and not lied. TS knew how much we had invested in him and should have just said no comment. That is not hard to do. I accept that TS was made an offer he couldn’t refuse, it’s the way he left and what he said that I didn’t like. He blamed everyone on the way out and lied continually. That’s why I feel the way I do. I still hope LJ stays, but accept he probably won’t, unless a fair deal can’t be achieved. I will be very disappointed to see him leave, but won’t dislike him or boo him, both of which I did to TS. I have never booed an ex demon before or since. I am happy for him he got a lot money and also as to how his career played out. Our pick 2 that year was a great bloke, who I will still mention in footy conversations, unlike the other bloke, who really doesn’t exist in MFC or footy discussions.

Game 99 for us in QF. Qualifies for future father/son next game. Melk needs another 7 games, so next year would probably qualify. -
I know you are talking about WC, but Freo got pick 2 for Lachie Weller. If LJ would accept WC, there is no way they would stuff it up by trading away pick 2 unless we had first agreed.
-
Howes will be ok and much better injury free and after another pre season.
-
Good point. He needs a smart player on him, who can also damage if not manned up. Melk is probably the ideal one for him.
-
Well Logue might be on the move and he is a WA player. Clear him and their first pick for pick 2 from Eagles. Then give us that, Treacy and Dogs first pick for Lobb and we are starting the conversation. That would guarantee Cadman, if he is that good and then get a good player with the Dog’s pick. Get Grundy and key forwards and rucks issues are solved. Rookie another ruck as insurance and we are tracking well. Weid might be involved in Grundy deal and we then have JVR, Cadman, Treacy and BBB and Tom for a year or two more. We essentially solve all problems with 2 deals. Grundy in and Jacko out, with key forwards and picks in.

This week’s post of the week.

I forgot to add that I thought Yze would get GWS gig and that would leave Kingsley for Port, but the Giants gazumped them.
-
Great minds!
-
Yze might have one more chance this year, as I think Bombers will go for Hinkley, who would get a release from Port, for his final contact year.
-
Sorry but that would not be a good deal for us IMO. Compare mine as a minimum. Treacy, Meek and a top 5 pick that guarantees us Cadman or Jefferson. If we also get Grundy, we have then hopefully solved our key forward and ruck issues for the next several years. You add Treacy and Cadman/Jefferson, to JVR and still have BBB and Tom for another year or two. You extend Max’s career using Grundy more of the time and gave him fresh for finals and have Meek as the backup. If we do get Grundy, we may prefer another player or pick instead of Meek. Could then use that pick in the draft or on a trade or to improve next years pick in a suggested better draft. We could then rookie another ruckman as the backup.
