  1. But the goal umpire had no doubt.
  2. Yes he possibly goes to the Feehan next.
  3. That’s disgraceful. It’s no worse a decision than last week’s soft call. Why wasn’t he stood down? Scapegoats for incompetence in administration of the game, by hugely paid know it alls, who stuff up most things.
  4. 3 umpires were on the spot when Cameron got that handball over the boundary line and all just watched. Mistakes happen. Players make them all the time. My 6 year old grandson wouldn’t miss from 10 metres out straight in front, but professional footballers do.
  5. Actually a mistake that us sitting at home watching replays can pick up. Now let’s put ourselves in that goal umpire’s position. One minute to go, deafening noise as the ball approaches the goals, 2-3 desperate Swans players jumping for the ball, obscuring his view of the ball, while he must keep back out of their way. All this happening quickly. He hears a sound of post being hit, it was a Swans player’s hand, that he wouldn’t see, then sees the ball spinning as though it hit the post. Another Swan yelling at him and pointing to the post and he makes a very innocent mistake. This is certainly not the first such mistake made by an official. Look at that ridiculous penalty to Sweden against the Matildas. Even with replays VAR. Last week’s soft call was another mistake which has cost us probably 2nd place. It’s up to the AFL to improve officiating wherever possible. They haven’t even got a GM of Footy yet nearly 2 years after Scott left and Gil is still hanging around like a bad smell, even though his successor has been appointed.
  6. But they did follow procedure. Goal Umpire was certain it touched post and therefore he didn’t request review. That is the current procedure. It’s a mistake, not a breach of procedure.
  7. What does the dog think?
  8. I think we need to add some pace to our side like Bobby Hill or Toby Bedford. Oh! Maybe Liam Henry could be an option, though he plays slightly differently.
  9. Laurie has been playing well for Casey, but I am surprised we picked him for this game. Maybe we want to give him a chance to see if he stays or goes, maybe we wanted someone with good foot skills, or maybe we just wanted something a bit different, to see if it gives us a spark. In other words I haven’t got a clue.
  10. So we want the Hawks to put in a shocker this week and then have their best win of the year next week. Pretty simple.
  11. According to some a deal is just about done.
  12. If Darcy leaves he will go to a finals club, or at least a big club, where he is number 1 ruck. The managers have all seen what happens when 2 number 1 ruckmen are on the same list.
  13. Tom McCartin might miss with suspension for bump on McAdam.
  14. Yes some good came out of today’s results, Cats, Crows and Bombers not playing finals. However there is usually bad as well and that’s Blues win over Suns by 4 points, courtesy of Curnow and again poor umpiring.
  15. Well not quite $650k, as we will have to replace him, so maybe $250k.
  16. So unless I have misunderstood, we give up 5, 18 and next year’s first ( 3 first rounders ) and an AA ruckman we paid 27 for and get 1 and say 30.
  17. That is interesting as he is from Adelaide and has been in Melbourne since being drafted. I would have thought he would pick either Port or another Victorian club, but maybe he just wants to see Sydney.
  18. Me too.
  19. Would definitely be high on our list if Grundy left.
  20. Yes, say Grundy goes at $650k and you replaced him with say Goldstein, for say $250k for one year, with promise of a few games to give Max a rest and to be ruck coach at Casey for our young ruckmen. You save $400k and get the young ruckmen developed by a great ruckman who is there if needed for his final year. You then do it again the next year, maybe with someone else and hope our young rucks are ready to go in 2 years.
  21. I understand that, as for a straight get Haynes deal, I would agree, it’s the steak knives that could be very sharp, that could make it attractive.
  22. You are not buying Haynes you are buying the pick or picks that come with him. What if you got their first pick and Riccardi, for taking him and his salary for a year? You would clear off an extra player or two and bring in draftees on small payments which cover that one year.
  23. If Grundy goes, we will pick up an aging ruck, or 2nd tier ruck for a couple of years, until Verall and KF develop.
  24. Correct. Dunstan gets leather poisoning every game, but turns it over more than anyone I have seen. Last week there was a stage where I think he he had 4 turnovers in a row, just kicking passes to the opposition. A Saints mate told me when we got him that it has always been his issue. I think he will leave this year.
  25. If you are playing Pies in a QF or a semi or PF later, I would prefer it in a QF without N. Daicos and Moore just returning from a hamstring. Beat them and it’s a PF at the G, likely against an interstate team. That is our best chance of getting to a GF imo. Then again a home QF against an interstate team is a big chance for a PF too. Who knows?
