  1. "Maynard himself said in evidence that he didn’t see Brayshaw coming until the last moment. “I turned my head to land thought ‘[censored], he is there’,” Maynard said." Sorry if I make a mistake as I am laughing hysterically. Player runs forward and jumps up to smother nothing, as he actually didn't see anyone with the ball, until he was coming down to land. FMD is this serious?
  2. 100% correct. Understand if they didn't want to fight, but they should have been called in spoken to by a leader and from that moment on, attacked the contest like mad men. They didn't.
  3. On that day I was 15 metres from where it happened and I was ready to run onto the ground. I thought he could be paralysed. I met Long years later at a horse sale and was introduced to him. I told him I liked him as a player but that it was the worst act I had ever seen on a footy field and he agreed.
  4. I told you he has become an anti Melbourne arseh-le. Howe is one of my least liked players now.
  5. You need to smother Cripps ribs, as they are broken. He is playing with broken ribs.
  6. Because he just appeared there from the ether. His body just flew in the air and turned its shoulder to bump by itself without any brain direction. Wow, is this person serious?
  7. I don't think Robbo is well. I think he has gone from imbecile, to ill imbecile.
  8. Absolutely we could use the pace. Our only really quick player is in the FP.
  9. I don’t think it will explode, we all know it will happen.
  10. On 360 Monday, Whately revealed that Maynard was immediately reported by the umpire and Robbo interrupted him saying he paid a free kick. This happened 2-3 more times with Whately trying to get the report point across about the report and Robbo interrupting about the free kick. Was this deliberate by Robbo, or is it just his inability to comprehend and listen to an intelligent discussion?
  11. Because it was unhelpful to the Pies ( footy act ) media narrative. Contrast this incident with the Hunter suspension, where Hunter just stood still and Butters went low, sliding into his hip and the Tribunal said he should have jumped out of the way and then Butters continued on playing, to get 43 possies, in the best game of his life. It’s like a scratch compared to a nuclear blast and people are actually suggesting the scratch was worse.
  12. He is always like that. He has a sort of mumbly disjointed speech delivery. Met him and Roos in a cafe and mentioned I was a former Dees Official. Lyon was engaging and very nice, while Roos acted like I disturbed his honeymoon evening, totally rude and dismissive.
  13. Scott and Lyon both saying in reality he is guilty. Scott said at training, would he do that and then take out a team mate?
  14. Caro has said it, Robbo said it tonight and I have seen/heard it said elsewhere. Robbo said clearly that the MRO said he had no case to answer and Laura Kane and the AFL said he did and overruled him. This has not been disputed by the AFL or anyone in the media, so it’s likely the case.
  15. Several media sources have stated it. He was overruled. The wording was from both in the charge, but it was done from above.
  16. Dermie, Lethal and Malthouse saying he will be suspended. He initiated contact, which turned into a bump to the head with his shoulder, knocking a bloke out for 2 minutes and damaging his health and career. What else could he do, not turn his shoulder into Gus’s head. Anything else and he would be fine. Lastly, if he had time to dip the shoulder, he had time not to.
  17. What part? Also note I have slightly edited the original post.
  18. The MRO officer imo should be replaced immediately. I just learned from 360, that the Umpire Reported Maynard immediately on the ground. We have also learned that Christian, an ex Pies player, wanted no penalty and was overruled by the Top Brass at the AFL. So despite a report on the ground by an umpire, close to the incident and the fact that a player had been knocked out for 2 minutes, with his career and health impacted, Christian attempted to whitewash the whole incident and not even have it tested by the Tribunal. With the AFL heavily concerned with avoiding head injuries, the actions of Christian imo reek of conflict, ex old time footballer bias and looking after the old club and imo he should be replaced immediately. He has been the subject of much criticism, in this role and it is time for a change now. Even his total lack of support for the umpire, imo makes his position untenable. At the very least he should have referred it on for a full tribunal hearing.
  19. May before he had played a game for us, was suspended in a Practice match, where he stopped and a player ran into him front on, without any shoulder bracing impact to the head. Didn't hear any complaints from the media peanut gallery then. If May did the same smother act on Daicos, there would be calls for a year ban, from the same media peanut gallery. I can see it now " May, a tough player, took out a great ball player and should be suspended for as long as possible".
  20. Channel 9 Today show this morning.
  21. And so has Mick Malthouse. Said he had other options.
  22. Even better.
  23. People are naturally very emotional over this incident, because of many factors we all know about. I understand Rollo’s view, because to be honest, at first glance I agreed with him it was a footy act and so be it. On further viewing and consideration, I realized it must be seen in light of the current AFL rules. It then becomes clear. Players have a Duty of Care to other players now. If you initiate contact via a bump to the head, it is no defence to then say you were only bracing for contact. Once you initiate contact, the duty of care requires you to not contact the head and cause injury. Whatever the motives of Maynard, in jumping off the ground, once he braced and hit Gus in the head with his shoulder, he committed an offence under the rules. His options were to not brace with his shoulder, but rather, keep his hands out to lessen impact, or avoid contact altogether. He chose the one banned option. The fact that Gus was concussed, goes solely to severity and penalty Now the media circus can begin. I only wish Gus all the best and couldn’t give a rat’s about Maynard.
