Get serious, we are talking about “better” than footy.

No one gets everything right all the time and JT has a great strike rate. When drafted he was seen as an exciting talent. It just hasn’t happened for him. Agree with other posters, that he is a lovely guy to meet, but of course we don’t want lovely guys, we want great footballers. PS: did we ever try him down back?

Besides family and friends, name one other.
  4. About time for Heeney and Mills to really turn it on and for Warner’s return along with Lloyd.
  5. I don’t see Grundy at another club next year. At this stage if Max went down, who replaces him, competently? I am convinced the Max who played on Friday was a far fresher Max than the same time last year. If nothing else Grundy is the major reason for that. He rucked alone when Max was injured, earlier in the season. Schache consistently gets goals at VFL level, but disappoints at AFL level and if Goody saw the pulling out of marking contests in the VFL, in several games I have seen, his cards would be marked, “only pick as last resort “.
  6. Agree with this. While a fan of BBB, his knee injury has cruelled his agility, which was never his main attribute and imo he is very near the end. Grundy is a bigger bodied, more mobile player who can do what BBB does, maybe not as accurately kicking for goal, but can save Max from burnout, JVR from ruck injury and allow him to concentrate on his key forward role and at worst, provide the contest and bring the ball to ground. Fritta will return and bring his opportunistic goal scoring, but Tom Mac may not return. Therefore it’s probably Grundy or BBB for the big key forward role and probably/possibly at this stage, Grundy can offer more. I can understand what the FD is thinking here.

Speaking of anti Dees bias, a perennial favourite BT sounded like our Number 1 member on Friday. He was cheering us home, praising every bit of play late in the game and willing us to win. At the same time, Richo kept saying one more goal to Lions will win this for them. I am not knocking Richo as I like his comments btw. Wonder what turned BT. Maybe just wanting a great finish for the TV audience.

That’s a very stupid belief Gerard. We have no real backup for Max other than Grundy atm. Verall is not ready and why kill JVR and hurt his forward game, going up against much bigger experienced ruckmen. Tom Mac is injured a lot now and is close to the end of his AFL career. Also how would Max have played last night, if he had already played most of every game to date? Think you are way off the mark Gerard.
  9. And Serong, Cox, Young and Frederick who are out.
  10. I think you are referencing Simon and Garfunkel: Hello darkness my old friend, from the song, the Sounds of Silence.
  11. Amen.

No worries. Luckily for me I was studying and then Gough got in and sent me a card I still keep, which read “ your services are no longer required”. Never received a better sacking. On a serious note, I have the utmost respect for the men and women who served and continue to do so. Their bravery is truly admirable.
  13. Welcome to the world, new little Demon Remi.

That must be why I never got drafted into the AFL, though it did get me drafted in a worse draft, for the Vietnam War.
  15. Thought that was possibly Gus’s best game this season. Probably pays to lose Louis’ handball, on the Sunday Footy Show, to your old man, the week before a big game.
  16. It was sheer tough brilliance.
  17. I would still count my fingers.
  18. That was pure determination and inspiration. Just tough and uncompromising. I agree, Wow!
  19. That’s it in a nutshell. We turn it over on the F50 entry and they then retain it until they score .

    And here we go again.
  21. That kid is arguably harder at the ball, than just about everyone in the AFL currently. His bravery is through the roof. So glad he plays for us.
  22. I am shaking.

It will be no minutes this week.

Nah, that one made a fortune, spouting [censored] about climate change, something like most evangelicals in the climate change field, he knows very little about.
