Yes, I'm aware he is still an MFC player, and rest assured there is complete calm here. The sky won't fall in if he goes, and the article makes some very good points about where he is at and his relative importance at present. It's tough on the kid that he is being put through the wringer at present, and certainly the tone of the article is a little harsh, but it probably highlights more the strange target Tom is for GWS, particularly as their marquee signing.

What a joke this suspended sentence thing is............he should be serving 14 weeks for sheer stupidity! Missing finals should have been part of the punishment for being an idiot. And now we get the press conference with Heath claiming how he has a gambling problem, he is going to be undergoing counselling etc etc.

According to his manager he knows the Melbourne offer, but doesn't want to know what the GWS offer is and will look at it after the season......that seems odd.

Aren't we back to paying 100% of the salary cap? If so, it matters little, and we should be aiming to secure both!

No I'd say you read the question correctly, and I completely misread it! So based on my renewed understanding, I'll say Bailey looks to be the most likely option, though my preference would be Malthouse.

Some really good points Artie. I think in the end he will end up staying with the MFC..........based on nothing more than gut feel. Impossible to get any meaningful understanding from the media, because like us they don't know either. You could counter Schwartz's belief he is gone with Trengove's belief he will stay..........who is more believeable????

You're right, free agency will create similar problems, but not sure it will be the same level of angst as a number 1 draft pick doing 2 years with the club, and potentially leaving............a fairly unique set of circumstances by AFL standards. I'm just making the point that sure Watts signed after the season last year, but the rumour, innuendo, speculation was non existent compared to what it is with Scully this year. That doesn't mean he is gone, but we can't exactly stick our heads in the sand, and "trust in Tom" either.

Absolutely correct! And as if a new coach would want the old one lurking around the club, and as if a dumped coach is going to want to hang around the club after being demoted! If his contract isn't renewed, then he can explore his options, and no doubt would get a role in footy or the media somewhere.
