  1. More positives...............the pieces continue to fall into place............go MFC!
  2. Wow............looks like both us and the Bulldogs got their man! I wonder who will end up being right!
  3. Spot on Billy! I'm really positive about what I've heard and seen to date, but actions and results are going to determine this as either a good or bad appointment. We should be excited..........let's be honest, we're all hoping he can unlock the potential in the list, and come up with a game plan the players can embrace, get confidence from, and win with. I'm just weary of going off in the holster!
  4. That's funny, because I still rate Daniher highly, and thought he was a good coach for the MFC..........certainly not mud IMO. Sure, we had some issues and major inconsistencies under his reign, but we also were a club all over the place when he was in charge. And he certainly left with his head held high, and to this day I don't remember him giving the club any parting shots or whacks on the way out. I actually rated him a better coach than Bailey..............I think in general they both come across as really decent blokes, and if nothing else, they should be applauded for the way they handled leaving the club...........it says a lot about both of them.
  5. Impossible to know whether this is a good appointment or not..........only time will answer that question! I just hope he is given every ounce of support from the club, and the internal issues are resolved pronto, so he can focus on the job and and not be distracted by club bs! Certainly appears and sounds like a switched on guy, but so does Bailey. The club knows how critical this appointment is, and we have to back them in to get it right.............being a Stynes administration appointment, I'm confident we have our man! Go Dees!!!!!!
  6. Heard it reported on radio the leak came from Collingwood and not the MFC. MFC have kept very quiet throughout this whole process which is good to see!
  7. Good article on the man here from the AFL website. Who is M.Neeld?
  8. Interesting ... COLLINGWOOD ASSISTANT COACH MARK NEELD POISED TO COACH DEMONS
  9. I so want to believe it, but it just wouldn't be my club if this was to eventaute.
  10. There are no rules to this. Freo shafts a coach with a contract Coach with a contract shafts club Pies head hunted a coach with a contract in Malthouse Seeing how ruthlessly clubs dispose of coaches when they want to, how could anyone blame a coach for taking the same ruthless approach to securing their future?
  11. Gotta say I'm impressed with Lyon's slick work here, he's one switched on dude! Tough on Harvey though, Freo have absolutely set him on fire!
  12. Good point.............I'll still spew up though!!!!
  13. If we are the first to sack our coach, and the last to sign our new one and it's a rookie, I'll spew up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. A little more on the Lyon situation here: http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-sport/lyon-to-coach-saints-next-afl-season-20110913-1k75q.html
  15. If the compensation is the same as the Cats got for Ablett, then forget about getting any more! Many are saying we shouldn't have got the same, so let's take them and move on!
  16. Spot on! And if either of those had have eventuated, we would be no hope of getting him!
  17. Don't agree...........if you sack a first time coach, and determine you want the best available experienced coach, then it's inevitable you are going to have to dangle a mighty fine carrot to get a coach to leave their club, particularly when they are still contracted.
  18. If it was anyone else reporting it, I'd be pumped!
  19. I agree...........I would have thought a look at the top 50 players in the competition would be the best place to start, and Scully was nowhere near that. There atitude is obviously one of short term pain for longer term gain, so that their young recruits along with the players from other clubs all mature together, and have a sustainded, or so they hope, period of success. The problem will be the poor media and public reception they get in Sydney getting pummelled every week, and what will that do to the kids they have got.
  20. Is it any wonder.................... Lyon really doesn't want to be there, and is a short term fix McLardy is Jimmy's deputy Schwab looks like he has been given the mother of all pull throughs, and could be considered luck to still be there I'm not sure they know who is in charge at the moment...........you're right, Eddie and Jeff would have unloaded both barrels, but unfortunately our sheriff is struggling a little at the minute.
  21. I think the club would be extremely naive to believe money was the only factor at play here. When you clearly can't compete on money alone, you need all other elements of the club operating smoothly, and unfortunately that isn't the case. It may not have made any difference at all to the final outcome, but we'll never know.
  22. The thing that irks me most about this whole saga isn't about Tom Scully leaving and the big money on offer, but more the MFC related comments. The China trip The sacked coach The professionalism of the players The footy department unrest etc, etc It would have been nice for these things not to brought up, and everyone in football saw it for exactly what it is........a cash grab!
