So i was planning to drive from Shepparton on Saturday with my sister who is also an MFC tragic. I honestly can't remember if we have ever attended a game together in our more than 50 years on earth, so i was really looking forward to it. Tonight i got a message from someone i work with, who is the mother of a Port player in this rounds team. She asks if we are happy to go to the game with them. (This lady is also the nurse who controls my roster at work). The best part of this offer is that her husband is an absolutely MAD Dees supporter. OFC i said yes, we would be most happy to share the drive to Melbourne. Long story short, i was asked if it was OK that we waited about 30 mins after the game so they could pop down to the rooms and see their boy. She also said it would be less of a wait if Port won. My reply.... No worries, my sister and i will be busy singing "Its a Grand Old Flag" after the match..... take as long as you want. P.S. Why is it longer if you lose? Collingwood vs Geelong - Pies by 27 Adelaide vs Hawthorn - Crows by 20 Western Bulldogs vs Sydney - Swans by 15 Brisbane vs West Coast - Coasters by 24 (But i really want Brissy to win, they should be quite good this year) St Kilda vs Gold Coast - Saints by 1 GWS vs Essendon - Giants by 36 Fremantle vs North - Norf by 12 As long as we win, the other results won't matter to me one bit tbh. This. The Swannies and Hawforn made an artform about building into the season proper. The preseason comp is made for tweaking the gameplan and experimenting. Our boys will be a different proposition by mid-season if things go as i suspect they will. 2 losses this year doesn't mean the same as 2 losses in previous seasons. We are a much better side who will take time to adjust to a new Key backman, and yet another who is still to return. Add our 2 Captains, Melksham, play for 4 points and we a completely different team. Long term we still look good. This is no time for despair. (Or even worry) Still, we didnt look very good today

Would like to see the contested making stats inside 50. It feels like they have slaughtered us in that regard.

Our boys look absolutely spent. Not many positives so far. May has been ordinary. AVB is hard as nails. We cant take a grab inside 50. No crumber near the goals. Oliver has had a 'mare. Backline needs a lot of time together to work seamlessly, but thankfully time is something we have. We can still win (which wont mean much), but this team has a long way to go to make it to what it was at the end of last season. Bears actually want to win.

We would need a couple of Flags in a row, and offer a $10 option for dual MCC/MFC membership to make 70k within 2 years. Its probably unrealistic to expect a 50% increase in membership that quickly. Thats one of his jobs though. Talk it up and you never know. This goal would need the team to perform better than last year more than anything. A major announcement on a home base and social club would also help. Doesnt hurt to dream.

Mahoney said in a recent interview (I think during the practice game against Collingwood?) words to the effect that we still have room in our cap to get another good player onto our list at the end of this season. Great if we have another target whos ear we have been whispering into for a while..

Perfect. Even if he doesn't overtly favor our club, at least he isn't a rusted-on supporter of a co-tenant who might make our alignment less beneficial. Good news IMO.
