Hogan looks completely disinterested. Nice to see his new coach sorted out his attitude problem. Early days, but he looks to have the same interest in second efforts now, as he did the entire time he played with us. Not the work ethic of a champion player.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION: Melbourne vs Richmond - JLT 01

Mate, if my brother was on an AFL list i would have his number on my back, his badge on my jumper and a signed poster on my wall. Bugger what anyone thought. -
POST MATCH DISCUSSION: Melbourne vs Richmond - JLT 01
ding replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
After having a read through this thread, most of what i was going to say has been covered. I found that standing behind the goals meant that you miss a lot more than you could see on TV. Especially when the ball was mostly at the Tigers scoring end for so long, and i chose to be at our end. Oh well. The main points to stand out for me from the game were, in no particular order *The playing surface was in spectacular condition. *Considering the amount of time the ball went inside Richmonds Fwd 50 with little to no pressure, i thought our makeshift backline did quite well. That felt like a much bigger loss than 2 goals. *Preuss has major timing issues with his jump at ball-ups. He is a monster though. *Clarry and Angus are Manna from heaven. Ball magnets both, although Brayshaw needs to clean up his disposal on the left foot. *I thought Jeffy was having a real crack until injured. I have a couple of images from that actual contest, but not on the actual dislocation. One Richmond player patted him on the backside on his way off the ground which was nice to see. Poor bugger must have been in a lot of pain. *JKH was better than just ok. His improvement has been noticeable and he is now a genuine depth option, not just an emergency backup IMO. *Jordan showed some promise. Not as lost as i expected him to be. *Charlie Spargo might not be the most skilled, but his work ethic was really good. Did quite a bit more off the ball than i expected. Not as bad a day as some posts might have indicated. *Harmes is in for another great year. I love his attack on the ball, and oppo players. *Trac doesnt do much off the ball, but get him in a pack and his hands are almost as fast as Olivers. Get him fit and stick him in the guts. Much better there than deep forward, as his set shots are still very ordinary. Room for improvement, but he has the tools. *One bloke behind the goals at the MFC end was wearing a Dec Keilty badge... the only one on his jumper. Keilty and Harrison were much better than i expected. Decs work in particular was quite nice. *Tmac must have been a bit crook, as he had so little impact and looked really flat. Just a bad day for him. *Weid is much bigger than last year, but seeing him up close right next to Rance showed how much he still has to bulk up. Very big difference in size and strength was obvious. Even Tmac looked skinny next to Rance. *Cotchin is a D-bag. A big one. *Nev is a champ, and i was a pathetic fanboi when he let me take a photo of him with my daughter. I was like a giddy little pre-teen at their first concert. Nothing lost yesterday other than the injury to Jeff. Hope he makes it back soon. The margin should have been much greater, but with our outs i didn't care one bit. Finally, our pre-season form really IS irrelevant.- 205 replies

YES !!! I made that comment to myself during the second QTR. He has a timing issue when it comes to his jump, but thats something that can be worked on. We need to remember how few matches he has played. Nice observation. -

Zero chance. This lens is made for full frame, but crop sensor compatible. I have used it at countless weddings, but I generally add some minor vignetting in post-processing afterwards, usually only in the close-up shots of the bridal party, family etc. I have used it on @faultydet Canon 7d (which is a crop sensor. He also has a 5dMK2) and it performs perfectly. I honestly cant explain why these images look like they are vignetted in post-processing, but i agree that it looks like they have been. Didn't realise we had so many people on this site who knew their cameras lols. PS, my 5D classic does NOT use SD cards.... CF only. -

No mate, i have run each file through Photoshop but only do an "Auto Levels", followed by resizing at either 15 or 25 percent, depending on the amount i have cropped out, after cropping if warranted. No other post-processing involved. Every image posted so far was taken using a Canon 5DMK2 with 70-200 f2.8 IS/USM lens. For some reason, this batch seems to have the appearance of moderate Vignetting as you described. Honestly can't say why it looks like that, but I'm still happy enough with the result. -

ANB is exactly the sort of player a team like ours needs. Someone who runs all game BOTH ways, and doesnt stop running. We would be a lesser team without him. They cant all be an Oliver or Brayshaw. -

POST MATCH DISCUSSION: Melbourne vs Richmond - JLT 01

While waiting to go through my photos i have time for just a couple of observations about the crowd. I spent the first quarter between both interchange benches, then made the foolish decision to stand behind the goals... first at the Richmond supporters end, and then switched to the MFC end. Both times I was at the end we were kicking to which meant I didn't actually get to see much of the action for a full half of footy. What most stood out was how bloody pathetic the boofhead Tigers cheerleaders were. Constantly throwing cringey insults at the umpires, and moaning about how we could do anything and get away with it and they got pinged for everything. Plenty of "go to Specsavers", and "See Centrelink for a new job tomorrow maggot"... etc etc. They were really yelling. At a practice match ffs. It was constant whining by a bunch of pot-bellied, middle age bogans who were covered in tatts. At our end, I was impressed by how much younger our supporter group was. It's great to see so many younger people in MFC jumpers. (Having said that, we were outnumbered 10:1 based on club merch being worn) We also didn't yell abuse when a free went the other way. Also, our female supporters are INFINITELY better looking. Our ladies have 10% as many gaudy tatts, half as many chins, twice the IQ, four times the teeth and less than 1/4 of the stomach rolls. It was 2 different worlds separated by only the length of a footy field. A real eye-opener.- 205 replies

Nev was a champ and let me take a couple of photos with him and my daughter. I loved him already, but now I want a statue of the great man on my front lawn. More photos and a bit of a report to come... just downloading all my memory cards.- 205 replies

Cool, if you see an older bloke with cameras hanging off him, accompanied by his early 20's daughter, make sure you say hello. I should be fairly easy to spot by the fence somewhere.

I would have Punt Road as a training base without hesitation. Anything else will be further away from our actual home, and there is no guarantee we could get a bigger plot of land (that we arent forced to share) anyway. If Richmond ever wants to sell, i would jump at it.

Camera batteries are on the charger, and i have a wide brim hat ready so i dont burn to a crisp. Win or lose, it will be nice to see the boys play in my home town for the first time. Should have some shots and a bit of a match report up later tonight.

Riewoldt rates Hogan as better forward than TMac
ding replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The big difference is that now Hogan has maybe half the amount of good players feeding him the ball. TMac not only has more quality players supplying him, he also has more support in the forward line. A direct comparison should only be made after a full season in their respective lineups. Anyway, as long as we are winning, i don't GAS who is rated better. -
I don't care what temp it is, I will still be there with my camera gear. (Easy to say as I'm not playing I guess) Both sides have to play in the same weather so it's not a huge issue IMO. The season is long and a slowish start won't be the end of the world for any of the serious contenders. In MFC i trust.

Yeah, this sort of [censored] is thankfully dying, bit by bit, from all side of the spectrum. Thankfully you dont see/hear it as much as you used too. Im no PC warrior, but this sort of thing is OOB in most peoples opinion. Especially when a top bloke like Eddie is concerned. I would expect the AFL community to have the same reaction if it was Nev who was targeted. I know i would. WGAF what colour your skin is these days. The content of your character and all that.

Between audio failures yesterday, i heard snippets of G.Pert talking about the plan for our HQ and Social club. I missed most of what he said because of the dud audio, and it was mostly during the half time break, which the replay footage missed. Did anyone hear what he said, and was anything new spoken about this? After seeing what the 'Pies have, im bloody jealous. We desperately need a permanent home and training ground, and the Social Club is a must, sooner rather than later.
