  1. Did you just call McDonald decent? wtf?
  2. Will it help us win a premiership? Asking for a friend.
  3. Reckon the leg-scratch count will be off the charts in the Post Match presser tonight. He is always worse after a bad loss.
  4. Never mind, our last quarter fitness is sure to save us !!!!
  5. I dont know what to feel about todays game. I have tipped us the last 3 weeks, but dont feel so confident today. A few others have mentioned the Doggies leg speed and i think thats likely to be a fair factor in who wins. Dogs and Saints were my 2 biggest worries as far as being cut up speed wise, so today tells me more about us than last week i reckon. If we can win, finals are a lock IMO, but i think the Dogs might get over us by a few goals. Still, GO DEES !!!
  6. The club has JUST started to apply forward pressure required to reduce the ridiculous ease with which our opposition could waltz the ball out of our backline. Having someone like Hogan in this current team would take us backwards in this area. I was sick of seeing him sook to the umpires, and fail to put on pressure when he didnt have the ball. His trade, where we originally looked like we got unders, has turned out to be good for the club. It hurt us initially, but Jesse has done nothing since he left. I really believe his heart isnt in it. The poor bloke has been through heaps off the field and i dont think we could turn him around. If culture is worth anything, he probably isnt worth the risk.
  7. We have all known for years that wins are the key to (practically) everything. *Paging SWYL.
  8. Easily our most important issue. We have taken FAR too long to find a permanent home. Sounds like our finances are in pretty good shape, which should make it easier to hit up the AFL for some money towards the base when the time comes. Much harder if we had already taken millions in COVID support. Just hope the AFL has the cash to splash when we need it and hasnt been too drained by the other no-hopers
  9. Everyone is entitled to a farewell game i suppose.
  10. Interesting that he is your favorite player Luci. I have found myself expecting more from Salem each year and i reckon he has not come on as most of us wanted or hoped. Leaving aside the trade that got him to us which only complicates matters, i honestly believe he hasn't delivered what i personally hoped he would when we first bought him in. I was genuinely hoping he would be a backline version of Adem Yze. Not just because of the left foot, but the speed and skill that OOZE bought to the team. Unfortunately Christian has lost quite a bit of his initial speed, and takes some of the shortest steps in the league. Im not saying he is cowardly. Quite the opposite as he is as hard as a cats head, but after his repeated hammy injuries his gait is as short as anyone in the AFL, so he looks fast due to his cadence, but the short stride he takes means he is nowhere near as fast as he looks. Add to that the dinky little kicks he is famous for and i am a bit disappointed that he has not reached the heights i thought he could. I was hoping for a line-breaker. He is far from that. Salem has never (IMO only) been considered as a massive loss when injured despite his obvious skill. If someone who followed him more closely had info that could change my mind i would be happy to see it, but my immediate impression is that he isnt one of our "indispensable" players.
  11. Back yourself LH. The team is confident in their footy and fitness. Im confident we will make the finals and Jones will make it to 300 games. (well, maybe not 100% confident about Jonesy)
  12. Geez, im a bit sick of beating up on rubbish teams. Find us some decent opposition will ya Gil ?! *lights cigarette and pops on replay.
  13. Fritta ya useless spud, that was terr...... oh hang on he kicked it. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  14. I know we dont like to do scores in Match day threads, but it looks so pretty i will post it anyway. MFC 11.4 - 70 Coll 5.6 - 36
  15. Is this the part where our guys start asking Collingwood players what they are doing in September? *yes i know its in October.
  16. If we are within 3 goals at 3/4 time we should win. 2 extra days break, and confidence in our own fitness should make a big difference in the last. Belief is something this team needs to take that next step. Dont let yourself down Dees. We are good enough.
  17. Win tomorrow and i will be happy to put my balls on the line and say we WILL make finals. Our fixture isnt anything to whine about when you compare the breaks our opponents will be getting. No great head-starts for anyone we face for the rest of the season tbh. When you look at who we play, and who our most likely competition for 7/8th on the ladder plays, i think we have the most favorable run. Nothing at all to stop us playing finals other than our own attitude. Bring the effort each match and we should [censored] it in. Lose against the Pies and the hit to our confidence might be too much. My money is on us making 8th on percentage.
  18. Great news. Fantastic.
  19. See, i dont mind this actually. We have had a couple of 9 goal wins against rubbish oppo, but this keeps the heat on IMO. I get a bit more respect for Goody each time i see him getting up the team. In public he comes across as all lovey-dovey and soft, but this sort of video shows he has passion and expectations like the rest of us have. Cant fault the video as it shows how we responded. 2 good wins after a bad loss. If we beat the Pies, and maybe also the Dogs, this will look like a great post. If we lose both.... not so much. At least it shows something. Keep winning and they can post whatever the hell they like. Count me in.
  20. And there you go. For every doubter...... *fingers crossed
  21. If Jackson doesnt become 5 times better than Hipwood i will eat my MAGA cap.
  22. I agree with a lot of what you have said in this thread, but one point i will make is that the past few games have shown what MIGHT have been one of the issues he was asked to work on. His REPEATED lead and double-back efforts are miles better than they were before he was dropped. I have been super impressed by how hard the kid is presenting, and he has actually hit a few packs since his return. Seemed a bit reluctant to smack into bodies before he was demoted but that looks to have improved noticeably. Now i could be wrong and that might not be one of the things he was told to improve, but he absolutely has been a different prospect since his return to the team.
  23. Watched most of the game at work in real time and thought it was a bit "Meh" until the last QTR blowout. After looking at the replay after i got home, a few things stood out for me. 1: Oliver. Yes i already thought he played a good game, but i missed the amount of times he burst out of a pack at good speed and opened the game right up. The difference this part of his game makes to our team is massive, and a big change-up from the lightning 1m handball to the first static Dees jumper he sees in a contest. The last 2 games his improvement to our whole game style is off the charts. 2: Spargo. Didnt think i saw much of him during the game, but it was probably my own bias. Dont rate him highly but he played well today, and did far more good stuff than i recognised live. Hands in close still his best asset. The contest with Daw with 2 mins to go in the last QTR was one where many would have backed out. Courage shown was 1st class. Humble pie eaten. (But he needs to keep it up) 3: Weideman. His work-rate was huge. Lead after lead and never seemed to sulk if one wasnt honored. If he had the confidence of Brayshaw he would be a match-winner already. Developing beautifully since his recall. 4: Sparrow. Kid simply HAS to get more games. Perfect replacement for the Jones boy. Nuggety lad who isnt huge, but wont be easily knocked off the ball. Good vision and seemed to spread well. 5: Recruiting team. Genuinely believe they cleaned up in last years draft. Jackson will be an INSANE talent in a few years. Kosi is the next Eddie Betts... (well, maybe next in line after Charlie Cameron) and Rivers is showing plenty already. 6: Langdon. The amount of times he was there for the get-out play at half back was amazing. I knew he had a tank, but his run, run,run was incredible. Kicking needs work though. 7: Goodwin. Seemed much more assured during the post match presser. Only had 4 left leg-scratches which is a BIG improvement on recent efforts. Looking forward to the Breakout interview when he doesnt touch himself once. There will be no turning back once he manages that IMO. Anyone else see much during replay they missed live?
