Are you one of those supporters that drive me crazy who wails in despair every time we kick the ball backwards to an open player. Smart coaches at some point realised that you could use tactics from other games in order to keep posession rather that bomb it to, as you put it yourself, a mindless contest. Next time you're at a game, watch how many times we are able to move the ball forward effectively after a backwards kick to swith the play. Re chess - you also can't run, jump, mark, kick, handball, bump, kick goals in chess so probably not the greatest analogy.

I agree. I'm just dumbfounded by this thread. Does everyone really believe this, or are you all just copying each other so you're part of the crowd. 4 weeks ago we apparently had barely a capable player, and an incompetent coach, and now all of a sudden Jared Rivers is surpless to requirements????? Get a grip people. He is immensely talented, and if he can get his body right (and I know that's a big 'if') his form will get better and better. He also needs to learn how to play with all of these guys who he has barely played with. It takes time to gel into a style of play.

In about 2-3 years time when he is a mature footballer. Jeez can we all just give the KID a break. Not everyone matures at the same rate. He was playing against kids at school last year.

Who knows, Ricky may well have already signed a contract with them for all we know.

I agree Robbie. He just looks completely lost out there at times. Have watched him a couple of times run one way, then the other, and back again. Doesnt come instinctively for him and needs more development in terms of 'footy smarts' for Casey I think. I like him though, and think he has potential.

Benno, It's like you read my mind. Everything you have said echoes thoughts Ive had on the place. Right through to the extraordinary incompetence of the designers in creating a spectacular bottleneck right outside the ground on the ramp/bridge. It also takes me a minute to calm myself whenever I have to pay that 'ticket handling' fee when I don't speak to a person, and I use my ink and paper to print my ticket. Am thinking of charging the ticketing agencies a fee for my time and resources in producing the ticket.

Either way, it's no longer your club if you move IMO. If we became the Darwin Demons that would be it for me. Would take up marbles and not support anyone.

One of the funniest things Ive seen on that show in ages was comparing Bear Grills' beestung face with Sam Newman. The likeness was uncanny. Gary was giggling like a schoolboy, as was I.

You're forgetting that MCC members have already forked out over $500 for their membership, which is a fair whack. I think a lot more MCC members would be on board if they actually got something for their money (like general MFC members who get entry to footy games for their money). If the club could come up with a way of giving some value for the $50, which is currently a donation really, then I know a few people who I reckon I could badger into joining.

I've tried all of this, and it doesnt make a lick of difference, whether I try to watch it at home (ADSL 2+) or the office. I don't know anything about this stuff, but why cant they do it like on YouTube where you can sit back and wait to download the whole thing, rather than have to put up with "streaming" issues?

The AFL seriously need to sort their garbage website out. Every time I try to watch hilights it dies about 10 seconds in and restarts. It has always been pants but in 2010 there is just no excuse for it.

I'm not really sure why "inadequate facilities" is in inverted commas in the OP. Our facilities are absolutely pathetic. Anyone coming over from West Coast as he was would have been stunned by what he saw at the Junction Oval. Any sane person would have chosen Carton and the money given the limited duration of a footballers career.
