  1. Very sad comments from someone who I loved watching, and who put his body on the line for our club (if in fact they are comments genuinely made by him). Wonder if he is also bitter and twisted at the other 15 clubs who expressed zero interest in him when Bails did the right thing.
  2. Have always loved Richo. Frankly, I would have had very similar moments of petulance if I'd had guys kicking the ball at my feet or over my head for over a decade. Was wasted on the Tigers. As for them getting their house in order - I'm not sure what I'd do if I didnt have Richmond to laugh at. Long may they continue to be a joke.
  3. Maybe the reporter got it wrong. Here is the link (I think - havent added a link before) Here is the article
  4. That is also one of my favourite quotes. Nice one WYL
  5. I was actually pretty happy with the film. Letting Americans produce such a masterpiece was always a scary proposition. Douglas one said that getting a movie made in Hollywood was like trying to cook a steak by having a succession of people walk into a room and breath on it (or something to that effect). Other choice DNA quotes: "I love deadlines, I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by" "Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so"
  6. If you look closely in that scene in the pub when the world is about to end Douglas Adams is sitting at the bar. I know, it's sad that I know that.
  7. ahhh the great Douglas Adams. Don't forget your towel...
  8. Not sure if it's been noted before, but an interesting comment was made in an article on The Age website about Jac Nasser becoming chairman of BHP: "Born in Bundaberg and a Brisbane Lions supporter, Mr Argus will hand over to Mr Nasser, a supporter of the Melbourne AFL side, early next year." Good to have heavyweights in our corner, hope he has some involvement with the club...
  9. He is out of the moon boot and making a really good recovery. Walking in trainers now. All very positive long term
  10. This post has made my day. He really can't win can he!! Win no games - SACK 'IM, win 5 or more games - SACK 'IM!
  11. Agree. Not necessarily that its a given for him to be at Collingwood (although a good chance of it), but he would be nuts to take the NM gig given how highly he seems to be regarded by everyone. He will wait for the right job
  12. I think people take a very idealistic view of what goes on within the club. To suggest that they are tanking at this point of the season just doesnt make sense. They are simply not good enough to be winning games. Firstly, Dean Bailey does not have the luxury of tanking. If he wants a career as an AFL coach he needs to win games, and so is busting his gut to do so. Secondly, with the exception of a couple of jusy a few senior guys, the players are desperately trying to build and consoliate careers. Most guys just want to play well so that they ensure they are in the team ahead of guys competing for the same spots. Most can not afford to play deliberately below their best, and still have AFL careers in 2 years time. Teams might tank in the last round if they are in a position, but not for half a season or more - it just doesnt add up.
  13. Yeah most of them went to Vegas i believe. Some decided not to go and went to Gold Coast, Bali etc
  14. The 9 in the second half against the Pies is one of my all-time MFC highlights. Was the most dire first half of footy. Ender Farmer: - Kicked 9 straight - Took an amazing hanger (BT's commentary of "Ohh FARMER... THAT'S RIDICULOUS" was memorable). - Went back to have a shot for 10 straight....and missed. Brilliant
  15. Unfortunately too often supporter equate size with strength. This is not always the case. Core strength is far more important than having big 'beach' muscles. It may look impressive but isn't necessarily the answer.
  16. I've tried a couple of times to join, but get no response. Anyone have any idea how else people can join? I'm sure the old favourites over there would appreciate some new blood to banter with?
  17. Daniel Kerr is the last bloke we need at the club. Would be a very poor move IMO to let him loose with a young impressionable list
  18. Agreed. Voting for leadership group encourages factions I think. These guys are young and often not particularly mature. Leaders will naturally stand up, and will be looked up to
  19. Amazing choice of colours really. You would think they would want to differentiate themselves from Brisbane with the colours of Blue Yellow and Maroon, and yet they choose Blue Yellow and Red in their colour scheme. Bizarre
