  1. Just spoke to a mate who is a sports physio. He said don't be alarmed about patella tendons. According to him better injury for long term recovery than ACL's.
  2. Like your work. Also future picks if necessary.
  3. I don't rate him. Looked out of place in Swans midfield as a weak link in their depth. That unfortunately probably puts him thereabouts with Meilksham, Bugg & Kennedy. No thanks. Slow, not great skills and can make bad decisions. Used to be very reliable but seems to have lost pace and dropped behind a string of younger midfielders at Swans.
  4. What are you trying to say. They are two opposite things. He accepts the deal.........the player having no say. Club can't force a player to go anywhere. If they are contracted they have the right to stay where they are or like Evans last year have their full contract paid out and go in the draft. The Club can't for them to change Clubs. If they agree to a trade then they can be traded but not against their will.
  5. Other than about 8 players on the list I don't mind who goes as long as they are replaced with someone better. Therefore only be happy about him going if someone better comes in. Doubt we'll know the answer until 12pm 22 Oct.
  6. Surely Pies don't have room for both Treloar and now Aish has nominated them. I guess it won't be hard to pick up Kennedy
  7. I'm guessing knowing how impossibly they over value their players that we are prepared to give up our 2nd rounder. Talk about being bent over for a player who has a 2yr ban hanging over his head. Can't imagine them being reasonable and accepting a 3rd rounder which is all he's worth, if that given the potential ban.
  8. This would be gold for the haters on here. Sylvia and Melksham in the midfield. Can't you just see the pages of bile. Hopefully they can be contained to the one thread so the rest of us can ignore.
  9. Good points Bing. Hadn't thought about the previous provisional 6mths. Would be mad not tn take it again straight after last round. I have same thoughts about ban plus I reckon they'll take into account exceptional delays. So they could well be ready by start of the season. Taking the provisional now is a bizarre one as it counts as ban time although apparently they can still train with the club. Didn't they do that last summer. So no real loss. Just can't compete
  10. To put it in perspective it's the same money the Swans are paying Buddy over 9yrs so they are paying him considerably less a year than this offer. We have to accomodate Jesse Hogan who will become the highest paid and most sort after player in the league. A more important player than any midfielder including Danger. If we set the bar at $1.5pa for Danger how would we pay Jesse less.
  11. The figures bandied around by the press rarely end up being accurate. Don't believe for one minute that we'd compromise our salary cap with that sort of money for a mid even if it's Dangerman. Is he worth the same money as Buddy?
  12. Still don't understand why we are taking the risk for a player like him. Ryder & Carlisle even Crameri are very good players probably worth the risk. He's not in that class
  13. I don't think that advice is possible. I know a few involved on the legal side and they aren't saying that anything that would suggest anything other than the hearing will decide that.
  14. How are we going to be feeling if he gets rubbed out for a year or possibly 2. I can't understand why a team in our state would choose to take a gamble like that. Even with him being paid by his old team while he's suspended we have given up a pick, will be a player down and then have a player who hasn't played for 1-2 years. Can't understand why this makes sense for us. On a side note I know the view of their lawyer is there is no new evidence from the original trial and therefore completely confident that they will get off. Says there just isn't the evidence to find them guilty. Personally I don't agree. But either way, why gamble when there is definitely a risk there. We are doing the Dons a favour by reducing the number of players they might lose if they are all suspended. They should bloody be giving us a pick.
  15. Grow up. MFC let him down not the other way around. A series of terrible mistakes by a series of MFC Administrations let all of us down. But no one suffers more than the Full Back who watched for 7 yrs while the ball was delivered to his opponents perfectly by midfields and score assisters under no pressure. How would you feel going to work every day and knowing that doing your absolute best won't stop you from being beaten most times through no fault of your own. Good luck to him. We got Brayshaw with overs compensation. He's going to be a more important player for MFC than Frawley was ever going to be. Sam Frost will probably be a better back than him so we move on.
  16. More interested in hearing about a 6-9 yr deal signed with Hogan. So that leaves two places on the rookie list. You'd have to think that VandenBerg gets elevated. I would have though Harmes has shown enough to be elevated as well. So we'd be looking for 2 rookies next year. Good point suggesting rookying Hunt, so maybe only 1.
  17. Add Mitchell to that. Caught disabling players by kneeing them behind the play and gets a reprimand. Fyfe ended up missing a couple of weeks because of what Mitchell did to him. If he loses the Brownlow by a couple of weeks Mitchell will be responsible. Did the same thing to Tex Walker this year and he had to leave the ground for the rest of the game. Nasty little pot shot at the Essendon players indicating injecting himself. Wonder how he would feel if his Club had done that to him. Rotten, dirty, player. Do you hear him being booed like Goodes is.
  18. Actually it was '97. He got drafted at the end of that year. Had an unbelievable game for Nth Ballarat who won the game. He was everywhere. I remember thinking whoever gets him is going to have a star on their hands and yet he only went for pick 47. Couldn't believe my luck that he ended up at Sydney so I got to watch him playing up here for his whole career. You can argue all you like about why he was made AOTY but obviously he didn't get it for being a footballer, he got it for being a man who fought against racism. He wouldn't have got it without having the profile he gained by being one of the greatest AFL players in history but he also didn't get it for that he got it for his off field work. Why argue about it. Move on. As far as I am concerned the booing of him this year has been the lowest point I have experienced following VFL/AFL over more than fifty years. It's a very sad reflection and indictment on our society. That it grew to the level it did and even continued last night just makes me sad. At least the most divisive PM in Australian history is gone, let's hope things are looking up. Roll on our Grand Final....... Trade Week!
  19. It's a pretty simple equation for me on both of them. If you can get better players in by trading them out do it. If you can't then don't trade them. I have faith in the List Management and Recruiting teams on getting this one right. Eg how happy would you be if it was Howe out for Bennell. Or part of a deal for Prestia or O'Meara. O'Meara is an interesting one. According to that article he has said he's committed to playing out the final year of his contract next year but then is interested in moving to Melbourne in the long term. If you were GC why would you hang on to a 22yr old who has told you he's going to leave in one more year. Aren't you better to trade him out now and get on with recruiting in and training up his replacement. So a deal like that for Howe and perhaps Watts may not be so out of the question.
  20. He packed up and went home to SA for 4 yrs '78-'80 and came back for a year in '81 and was great. From memory he was a Board member for a while. Came 2nd in the '74 Brownlow. He at CHB and Greg Parke at CHF were probably the best combination in those positions I can remember. Soon to be finally rivalled by J Hogan and T McDonald or possibly O McD. Has the unfortunate distinction of being only one of 4 players to have played more than 200 games and never to have played in a final. Steve Smith is another one. Trevor Barker and Geoff Cunningham are the others.
  21. HT I'd be very surprised if the the Insurance won't cover your son's injury even after your employment stops. Insurance has to cover injuries that occur during the insurance cover. If they occur during that period it doesn't matter if the treatment continues after the cover is terminated. I'd check up on this but I'd be very surprised if this isn't the case. The HR person probably doesn't know if they think it doesn't.
  22. I believe he has the potential to be the greatest ruckman of all time. Dempsey, Madden and Cox are probably the three historical standouts but this kid is going to be something very special. When I first saw him live I thought they were b'sing about his height. He looks way too balanced, athletic and agile for his height. Sandilands is the closest in height and never had the mobility around the ground. His height is already showing a massive advantage where he can easily outreach "normal" sized 200-203cm ruckmen but is also more athletic than them around the ground. Biggest weakness is his tank. If you look at this stats most possessions are in the first half. Once he has the km's up and gets the tank he is going to be special. Don't know what was wrong with him in the first qtr last week but in the 2nd & 3rd he more than matched Goldstein in the centre taps and the whole game changed.
  23. Interesting how the trade news is starting to ramp up big time. All sorts of players are being mentioned with all sorts of Clubs but Dees are conspicuously absent. Hope that's because the new regime understands the value of not leaking anything to the press. I hope it's not because all the players we were fantasising about have no intention of coming to us and have already indicated to the press where they want to go. Fingers and legs crossed it's the first and not the second. It will be a bit disappointing if Roosy's cache failed to pull an A Grader during his reign. I suspect with the way the teams still playing it will take another year before they are playing well enough to attract A graders. Personally I'm not too worried about not getting Dangerfield. I think we're too far away to justify spending $700k+ on him. Would probably end up like Judd at Carlton. In the big picture would be hard to justify the money spent on him for the overall performance of the team during the time he was there. Who do people think the A Grade midfielders are that would be worth $700k+ and out of those who would be a fit for the Dees. Established A graders that come to mind are Fyfe, Ablett, Dangerfield, J Selwood, Pendelbury, Bartel?, Deledio?, Cochin? Hawthorn have a few but all too old for this conversation. I would say Fyfe at 23 is the only one young enough to warrant that sort of money for the Dees. What would you pay for up and comers like Jaeger O'Meara, Treloar, Coniglio, Prestia, Crouch etc. Seems crazy to go around paying $700k+ on them.
