Training Photographs - Monday 14th December, 2015
Its Time for Another replied to Six6Six's topic in Melbourne Demons
Really great picks. Thanks a mill. Jeez CP5 is a big unit. Going to be hard to knock him off his feet. Weideman looks a very balanced athlete. Even the way he's holding the footy in that photo is very balanced. Interesting that he looks quite skinny but is recorded as 94kg's. I'm guessing he's not going to have a problem filling out towards the 100+ kg's in the next couple of years. Big frame. Already about 6 more than our poor old whipping boy, Wattsie. Who looks like he has a bit of a gut from that photo. Far from a cut professional footballer. Maybe he's on a binge eating program to try to bulk up. Finding it hard to get over how much Oliver looks like McKenzie. No idea what they move like on a field but he looks nuggety. Kennedy looks like a very solid unit. -

I beg to differ LDvC. I think he should have stayed around so if they go down he could deal with it. He's already tainted anyway. Whereas Tanner is coming in as a new face. If he has to be the face of the Club and be in the Press everywhere dealing with a guilty decision, he will be tarnished with it just like Little. Why not stay until the final decision was handed down in a few weeks. -

Know what you mean. Also agree anxiety levels would be even higher if he isn't mentioned. But that 200kg's photo is encouraging. They're certainly testing out that reco. -

I would have thought the point I was making was bleeding obvious. If you reread your own paragraph in your post I responded to, I think you'll find most people would think that when you start by saying you don't rate him as highly as others and finish by referring to him as a solid accumulator, that you do not rate solid accumulators. I'm glad you've clarified your view of solid accumulators. In any event I totally disagree with your recollection of his first two years. Many in the industry compared him to Bartel not just me. He is a similar build has an outstanding contested overhead mark but was also at stages a game breaker like Bartel. We all loved Brayshaw's first season, as far as I'm concerned Trengove's was very similar. He certainly showed himself to be a better pick up than our first pick that year.- 1,814 replies

What are you talking about. That is him positively beaming. Never seen him that happy. He's never leaving. Source, my Grandmother. She loved him trying to escape that nasty Colonel Klink. -

Yeh those solid accumulators suck. You never see them do anything and then at the end of the game they have 30+ possessions. Duds like Bartell who he reminds me the most of, or that other dud Sam Mitchell. Nothing worse than a silent accumulator. Unless of course they happen to play for you.- 1,814 replies

Does anyone know what Brayshaw's problem is. He's been in rehab since start of pre season. Clearly has a problem. Did he have any off season surgery or is it something else. Hope its not the dreaded osteo that someone suggested. -
Life Member from a couple of years ago. Great contribution especially for an interstater. Just did another $50. Now $816. Thanks for for all your work keeping the site going.

Bing got a question about Provisional Suspensions. The players took them last pre season and missed a couple of NAB games. This would have been counted towards a guilty finding. They were still, bizarrely allowed to do full pre season training with the Club. Do you know if those provisional suspensions would be counted at all if they are found guilty in this new CAS hearing. Similarly can they notify they are taking provisional suspensions again since the end of the season which would also count towards any penalty if they are found guilty. -
Poor kid. That's a massive recovery at this age. Nasty injury. At least he'll be set for next season. My son had a minor tear a few years ago when someone fell right on his knee cap after a marking contest. But he didn't need surgery and was only out for a few weeks. Seems all good a few years on. Obviously a much better injury than an ACL. Thanks for passing on Gold Coast dates. We'll be well gone by then. I'm surprised they are going up that far into pre season. I guess they'll be doing a lot of game simulation by then in the heat.

I'm not sure you're right about that BB. They chose to take a provisional prior to the last hearing. I believe they can take a provisional prior to this decision. I don't know that definitively but it makes sense. They were able to train last year with their team while taking a provisional suspension. It only stopped them taking part in competitive games. Ie last year's NAB Cup. -

To quote Sue... "3. how the club evaluated the possibility of losing Milkshake vs the benefits of getting him long term." I assume he's taken a provisional suspension again this summer on top of the one they all took last summer. That would add up to nearly 12 mths provisional suspension by the beginning of next season. If he gets the max 2 years. It means he misses a year. Bing 181 might be able to confirm whether those provisional suspensions will apply here or whether the clock only starts ticking once CAS hands down its decision. If its the former it might be worth the punt to miss a year at worst versus the benefit of getting him long term. If it's the latter and he's out for 2 years. It won't have been worth the gamble no matter how much they think he's worth. -

Because the salesmen are Goody and the Great McCarthy. Because on the basis of their recommendation, we might all think he's a ute but they think he's a Monaro. Depends on how much you rate the salesmen. I rate them more highly than my opinion or anyone else on here. They both tinkered under the bonnet for a couple of years. -

1. Club won't have to pay anything while he is suspended. 2. Do you mean money or permission to access extra players. See 1 above and I doubt they would take on an extra player who would deny another young long term Demon an early game if that space opens up. 3. Good question. I didn't rate Bernie V much more highly than Milkshake. Mainly because I didn't know him that well. Boy am I glad to be enlightened on that one. Goodwin & McCarthy seem to see something in Milkshake that a lot of the rest of us don't. I'm happy to bow to their knowledge. Only time will tell. Possibly more time than we would have hoped. -
That's around 15% up on last year. If that keeps up we'll crack 40,000. It would be around 5,000 more than last year. Does anyone have any idea what that is worth in dollars to the Club? More money for the FD and more debt knocked off. Go PJ. LEGEND. Love how innovative and on the front foot they are this year with branding and memberships. Best I've ever seen from the Club.

I live in Sydney and it's my only way of getting an AFL fix on radio even if it is via the web. I really used to enjoy listening to the Drive Home as I'd catch up on a lot of footy news and Ox had good contacts at MFC etc. That was a long time ago. Now it is as H_T says above. It's a waste of time which is disappointing for me. Always found Harf and Maher to be pretty light weight. They're going to struggle with this line up.
