  1. Despite the Covid-19 situation and its attendant angst, I find myself feeling less stressed than how I would normally be when following the mighty Demons each week. That could be a reflection on myself, the team, or possibly both. I"m probably very much in the minority on this forum, but I wouldn't mind terribly if there's no footy this year.
  2. Funny how we remember things differently. My recollection of 'Dirty' Williams is that he was a clever player who used the ball well, but never got a lot of it in the first place - more of an opportunist, I suppose, than a stats accumulator.
  3. Gotta be The Wiz, but Glenn Lovett was another very talented player who was cruelled by injuries.
  4. Johnson clearly our best player by far. Gotta chuckle at Sandy Roberts' use of the term "effective scoring shots". I wonder what would constitute an ineffective one.
  5. The commentators mentioned that Jimmy had changed out of his no. 11. Not sure why, maybe it got ripped or something. Can't understand why the Eagles weren't in white shorts that day. It's also glaring how the 'deliberate out of bounds' rule wasn't enforced very often in those days.
  6. On the available evidence, I think it's clearly Jeremy Nichols.
  7. I think it was in the first game the following season that he busted his foot and lost any pace he ever had. ? EDIT: Brock McLean that is, not Hogan2014's unfortunate son.
  8. That number 5 looks alright. Clearly an all-time Demon champ and future captain.
  9. I voted for Trapper, only because I reckon his very best was better than Yze's (who was more consistent). Crikey, there's some tough matchups ahead of us. It's like trying to choose your favourite child.
  10. Must confess I'm finding this whole isolation thing a bit of a challenge, so much so that I've started to talk to inanimate objects around the house. I tried to discuss the situation with the microwave but it just keeps going around in circles. The toaster thinks we’re toast. I didn’t mention anything to the washing machine as it puts a different spin on everything. Certainly not to the fridge as it is acting cold and distant. The iron straightened me out and said no situation is too pressing, but it still left me feeling a little flat. The vacuum was very unsympathetic… told me to just suck it up but the fan was more optimistic and hoped everything would blow over soon. The toilet looked a bit flushed when I asked its opinion and the doorknob told me to get a grip. I lost it when wheelie bin gloated it’d been out more than me, the front door said I was becoming unhinged and the curtains told me to pull myself together.
  11. Jeez, quite the little ray of sunshine aren't you? Not coping well with isolation?
  12. No praha, the double of zero is zero. On a brighter note, we're only one game off top spot.
  13. I've always understood the meaning of that word, as applied to footy, as meaning a player who has been around for many years and played at a few different clubs. I guess Led Zeppelin were right when they said that sometimes, words have two meanings.!
  14. How can he be a journeyman? He's only ever played for one club.
  15. Did Red Adair every pull on the guernsey?
  16. Nathan Brown IIRC.
  17. Some people are handling this isolation better than others. My missus is becoming hysterical, running around the house and banging on windows and doors. Tomorrow, I might let her in.
  18. The Carlton Club Hotel in Gertrude Street, near Nicholson Street. Hasn't been a pub for many years and is now part of St Vincents. The Minton-Connells later took over the Rathdowne Tavern in Carlton.
  19. You might be thinking of Matthew Bode, who could play a bit. Jace was pretty ordinary, alas.
  20. Steven Icke gave us wonderful service and even won a B & F I think.
  21. I used to drink at Adrian Minton-Connell's pub in Fitzroy in the late 80s and he was a lovely bloke. He married Peter Hudson's sister, Pam and they are the parents of Simon (also a top bloke).
  22. Tim Smith was 'Bull'.
  23. Thanks for the info Rog. That would explain the length at the back, but nothing excuses that shaved area above his ear!
  24. How about that haircut! Surely he lost a bet.
  25. Len Gandini, radar? Five games in 1986.
