  1. In your mind what are the attributes of a key forward and how do Hogan's attributes match?
  2. Hogan is not a Full Forward. If you are playing Full Forward you need to be able to read the flight of the ball in the air to get in the right position, have speed to gap opponent in 5 to 10 steps, jump when flatfooted and take one grab overhead marks. These are all attributes Hogan lacks. It also helps to have an easily repeatable goal kicking technique! In essence Hogan's attributes are much more suited to playing as a mobile medium forward. Unless he is matched up to a midfielder kicking long and high to Hogan is not a percentage play.
  3. I don't deny that Lewis has footy smarts but in 2018 AFL footy demands a minimum level of athleticism. Lewis does not reach that level. I can't see him matching up with either Butler or Caddy. Butler in particular would be way to nimble for Lewis. If he played on Caddy he'd have to be an accountable man on man defender rather than an inside mid transplanted to quarterback of the half back in twilight of career.
  4. Good luck Trenners!
  5. The following challenge remains open! "The Tigers will name their team tonight. Try and find a Tigers forward Jordan Lewis can keep up with."
  6. The Tigers will name their team tonight. Try and find a Tigers forward Jordan Lewis can keep up with. He is a 4 time premiership player and a great of the Hawthorn Football Club but Lewis is too slow to play at AFL level in 2018. One of the footy shows showed footage of Lewis getting caught out as our deepest defender and having no chance of keeping pace with his opponent charging into their forward 50 as Port rebounded. His footy smarts are now best used as a development coach. Old Father Time catches up with all players. I can understand why he wants to keep playing, lets not forget that he rejected a 2 yr deal to move and we caved and added a year. I don't blame him for that but my expectation of Simon Goodwin is that he will pick the best 22 each week irrespective of reputation. If he keeps picking Lewis then he is not doing that.
  7. Lewis has reached the stage where the best use of his footy IQ is off field. In every game he'll have to try and beat an opponent to the ball. How many Top 8 teams have forwards he can beat to the ball?
  8. And yes Lewis is cooked. If he does not want to retire immediately then he can mentor kids at Casey till end of this season, or end of season 2019 if he want s to play on. Treacle slow, goes to ground and kicking is unreliable. Top 8 teams just don't seem to play treacle slow half forwards in 2018 for some reason so he just will never have a match up.
  9. Weid is much more effective than Hogan close to goal. Jumps better when flat footed and actually puts 2 arms up in the air towards the ball. Also a more effective Gawn reliever than Harmes, Pederson, Smith. Weid at full forward and Hogan to roaming always on the move Centre Half Forward role.
  10. If you are not a key defender, and probably even if you are, if you are playing in defence you need to be able to run and rebound. Lewis provides neither. Vince is not much better. Media types drool over their kicking but both are now prone to regular turnovers by foot. every opponent Lewis lines up on will beat him to a contest or run away from him. I'd be happy to see both dropped with Petty and Hunt (if fit, was on crutches at the G) in. Petty allows Hibberd to play a more attacking role. Hunt to provide run and carry.
  11. They way he moves reminds me of Hoppy. Hopefully an improved Hoppy. He is pint sized but the game has evolved in the favour of sub 180 players over the last 2 years.
  12. Watch any AFL Grand Finals over the last 2 years?
  13. No Ginger Baker/Cream gags. Disappointing.
  14. I am. Therefore I renew.
  15. Club Polos should never be worn with suit pants.
  16. Succumbing to Trade Radio for the first time this trade period. I feel so dirty.
  17. Carlton's 2018 second rounder may not be too many picks later than the 2017 Pick 16 in a more highly rated draft.
  18. Lever will start his first season with the Dees having just turned 22. Dangerfield started his first season with the Cats about to turn 26. Dangerfield was also a free agent so Cats we really doing Crows a favour by trading. Watching Crows reel to celebrate Lever's 50 milestone has me satisfied with deal. 21 year old 195 cm elite intercept marker and spoiler, plays long ie marks/spoils with arms fully extended. Has nice competitive edge. Our defence will love playing alongside Jake.
  19. High draft picks are not an end in themselves. It is a high price but rarely does a 21 year old with Lever's talents move clubs. Elite intercept mark & spoiler, in the American parlance Lever 'plays long' ie contacts the ball with his arms fully extended when marking and spoiling.
  20. Only issue I have with Lever is that sometimes he tries to mark when he should punch and the ball falls to his feet instead of being fisted clear towards the boundary line. Minor quible only. Possibly an issue for all of the better intercept markers.
  21. demoniac replied to Skuit's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fitzroyalty only applies to Old Fitzroy. The Standard is Fitzroyalty.
  22. Looked a class above most of his team mates. Might be taking Bluey home come the end of the year.
  23. I know the Kiwi skipper. Surprisingly nice guy for a Hawthorn fan. Will ask him about Mykelti...
  24. Suspect the Crows will see Lever >>>>> Gibbs.
  25. The first 3 are hardly composed or reliable with ball in hand. Keilty is an unknown quantity at AFL level. Lever would be a great acquisition if he were open to a move to the Dees and the deal could be done. Asking price would be steep no doubt.
