  1. Over at Carlton, Brock McLean has changed numbers from 7 to 14. His grandfather, Rod McLean, wore number 14 on 128 occasions between 1935 and 1946 including in the 1938 and 1945 Premiership teams, while his uncle, Ricky McLean wore the guernsey number in 19 matches between 1966 and 1971. IMO, it's a poor move. He's been slow enough all of his career wearing one number on his back, just imagine how slow he's going to be carrying two!!!
  2. Author?
  3. Found a story in a local paper about a young bloke trying out with the Scorps: BEN ROCKS
  4. Off to play golf this morning so my omen bet is Caddy.
  5. Grant Weeks Age: 21 Height 185cm Weight: 90 kg Club: Golden Square (B & F 2010) Goals: 2010 (157), 2009 (124) Previously: Bendigo Bombers VFL 2007, 2008.
  6. Not to mention another 5 pages in the Good Bruce Bad Bruce thread and several other mentions elsewhere. I'm getting a bit sick of Bruce. Can't we ban him for a while like we did when Shane Woewoding left the building?
  7. The design is very much in the eye of the beholder. Some will like it, some will not. I personally like it and, let's face it, the issue got you involved in discussion on an issue involving our club so it's serving a purpose on one level. If I didn't like the design, I'd forget about it and move on to some other aspect of the club.
  8. I don't think so because we're slated to play them in round 3. What we do know is that with Adelaide and West Coast playing at home, Port Adelaide and Fremantle will open with away games. I wouldn't mind having a crack at either of those at the G in round 1.
  9. You're right. All he showed at Casey were flashes and little else but ... he was severely hampered in that recovery from his injury is a long and slow process, especially in view of the fact that he was playing with a metal pin in his foot. That pin has now been removed and he's sure to be a different proposition now that he has the capacity to train full on and unimpeded and with a full pre season behind him.
  10. According to Blues' website: Delisted: Fisher, Browne, Anderson, Tiller, O'Keefe, Johnson and Donaldson ®. Elevated from Rookie List: White, Ellard and Garlett.
  11. Deal not done.
  12. Old man's an idiot.
  13. Surely, the joke's on Hawthorn. They have Franklin, they have Roughhead and Hale wasn't even the ruckman when he played for North Ballarat.
  14. The AFL has created a moster with the Gold Coast concessions and we should expect the same with GWS next year. Which players do we have coming out of contract at the end of 2011?
  15. The tide seems to be turning in Fev's favour on this issue as more and more people who were at the function come out in support of him. There might well be no case to answer and where does this leave Brisbane and the AFL?
  16. Big rumour going around the G last night that Mundy was coming home and that the Bombers were into him big time in revenge for the Dockers poaching McPhee.
  17. Still a few years to go for young Jack. I think he's only 15.
  18. So who said there isn't any talent around the place. Those wraps on someone like McMillan-Pittard are a real eye opener. Hyphenated name should also suit our profile.
  19. The more I read about these young kids and their dedication to reaching the top, the more I realise how stupid it would be to try to draft a half-crippled, self indulgent and arrogant individual like Luke Ball who won't even give us the time of day. I look forward to seeing the likes of Scully and Trengove at the club and, if the choice at 18 is between Ball and a young gun, I would rather draft a Bastinac or a Vardy than a bloke who doesn't want to be at the club and won't be around for long anyway. If we get a good, young kid, he'll be around long after Ball breaks down.
  20. Two years ago Scott Simpson was a fairly highly rated 196cm KPF for the Dandenong Stingrays. Drafted by Geelong at # 44 he has just been delisted after failing to get any AFL action. I don't know what's happened to him in the interim. Anyone know and would he be worth a look?
  21. Fair enough. What's the penalty for draft tampering ( no disrespect intended ) ?
  22. According to the Herald Sun today, Rivers missed because of a "hip". I just wish the club was a bit more forthcoming to supporters about injuries to players. I'm not talking about these last minute things but it took a long time for us to be informed as to why our best defender missed out. As for Juice Newton and his injury ... pffft!
  23. What a pathetic thread and what a bunch of losers you guys are. It's three rounds into the season and, yes, we've been ordinary for most of them but we have played the big three and the players are adapting to a new coach and a new ball game. We're starting to show improvement and if we can get the right combination going and the players click together this week, you never know what could happen. I'm not suggesting a flag but it's dangerous these days to rely on early draft picks alone to develop your club.
  24. Two in a row would make it a nice day! Go Dees!
  25. Quietly hoping for a big debut and a stellar career from Cale Morton but I hope that's not putting too much pressure on a young kid.
