forum footy lightning premiership

pringle's little cousin can really play. He's a gun. If he get's permission from his old man... I say he's in. pringle also has a couple of older cousins who might be handy. If one of them gives up smoking he might even be able to play. As for Jo, I'd have her tagging whoever wears #25 for Carlton. She could strike a victory for all women by getting some revenge. -

Why don't you send out a PM to george_on_the_outer who posts here and writes for Demonology. If he can't fix the problem then he will be able to direct you to whoever can. Cheers

Another example of ill informed media
Whispering_Jack replied to Roost It's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yesterday's Melbourne Age story on Melbourne and Luke Ball was about as bad as it gets in that it contradicted a number of statements made publicly by Dean Bailey. The Age is often criticised for its agenda journalism where the facts often aren't allowed to get in the way of a good story. Unfortunately, the sickness seems to have found its way to the sports pages. -
Today's delistings don't preclude more cuts to the list. The article confirms this when it states that the "definitive order for the AFL Draft will be finalised after the second list lodgment on Wednesday November 11."

Thanks also for your input Mr Magic. You've confirmed my view that the beat strategy to attract Ball to the club is based not only on looking after him financially (and I wouldn't worry about his manager - they all do what they have to do, bless their hearts) but also on convincing him that we have the programmes in place to ensure that when he runs out onto the field he will be as healthy and as well prepared as possible. Money is important but a player has to comfortable in his environment for whatever period he's going to stay at a club. On our lack of recent success, we haven't had as long and as sustained a recent period of failure as the Blues had when they snared Chris Judd. Ball should also be made aware of the role he would be assuming in the club's revival in much the same way that Judd did when he arrived at Carlton two years ago. If Ball is not convinced to throw his lot in with us unconditionally (i.e by nominating for the PSD) after all that then we look elsewhere.

I'm happy that this year we have the first two selections in a draft where there are, in fact, two absolute stand outs in Scully and Trengove. Having seen both of them live and on tv including the vision of Trengove in all of his finals, I'm still firmly in the Scully as # 1 camp. JT is none too shabby but Scully's decision-making, agility and super quick reflexes put him in the ultra elite category. As for the testing, I suppose we'll never know because of Scully's injury. I suspect however, that as good as JT's testing results were (15.1 beep/2.97 for 20m), Scully could do better.

by KC from Casey While the spotlight during the week has been on the AFL trading, the Casey Scorpions have moved quickly to appoint VFA/VFL premiership coach Brad Gotch as the replacement for Peter German who defected to Williamstown not long after season's end. The appointment not only means that the Scorpions and the Seagulls have switched coaches but it also reunites Gotch with the club he successfully coached to a flag more than a decade ago. The Gotch name has been around football at the highest level for more than five decades. Graham Gotch was a solid defender who played 52 games with Fitzroy from 1956-1960. Son Brad (born 23 June 1962) played 43 games and kicked 60 goals as a rover for the Lions from 1982-85 before briefly switching to SANFL club Port Adelaide in 1986. Halfway through that season he was snapped up by St. Kilda where the diminutive Gotch (166 cm 63 kg) added 53 more games and 62 goals to his resume. Despite his size he was always a handful for opposition sides and his left foot passing was deadly. His best goal haul with the Saints was seven against his old club. Gotch then moved on to the VFA where he played for the now defunct Dandenong Football Club in last premiership in 1991. He successfully coached the Springvale Scorpions to the club's 1996 VFL premiership and left the Scorpions, who have subsequently moved to Casey Fields, at the end of the 1997 season. Gotch worked in development roles with Collingwood and took up the coaching mantle with the Magpies' then VFL affiliate Williamstown in 2002. A year later, he was a premiership coach again when his team beat Tony Liberatore's Hawks in the grand final. His coaching that day earned him praise from the pundits including Phil Cleary who described him as a "master coach". In his time, Gotch coached many members of Collingwood's 2009 finals team including prolific ball winner Dane Swan. When the Magpies decided to go out on their own in the VFL, the Western Bulldogs took on the alignment and Gotch retained the coaching position as well as the new role of the AFL club's Development Manager. By the end of the 2009 season he was the second-longest serving coach in Williamstown's history having also coached the club to finals in six of his eight seasons. Following his recent appointment Gotch said, "It's great to remain in the VFL competition, and I'm really excited by the opportunity that presents itself with the Casey Scorpions. The team has a lot of young talent, which I am looking forward to developing over my tenure as coach." Scorpions General Manager, Brian Woodman, said, "Brad Gotch has had significant experience under Mick Malthouse and also Rodney Eade, it will be of great benefit to the Casey Scorpions and the Melbourne Football Club. We know that he will be a great coach in supporting the development of our playing list." "We are excited about the alignment and the experience that Brad Gotch will bring to our club will provide the support our young players need to grow with the game." Melbourne's General Manager of Football, Chris Connolly, had a major input in the selection process. He said, "Brad has a significant amount of experience that will be of great benefit to the Casey Scorpions and the Melbourne Football Club. Having an experienced coach was a high priority for us and Brad is the perfect candidate to set the standards for future success." This makes it four coaches in four seasons down at Casey Fields but, given his experience and expertise, it is expected that the Scorpions will have a long and prosperous period of stability with Gotch at the helm of the club. www.twitter.com/DemonsHQ (Official Demons Twitter):

Thank God it's over. What do we do now. A countdown to draft day?

I fear that The Old Xaverian might well be on the money. Ross Lyon wasn't being a fool when he restricted Ball's time on the ground to less than 50% of game time on grand final day. Despite that fact he picked up 22 disposals but all in all, his presence in the side could have been a liability with injuries to other players and the fact that his kicking was so lacking in penetration. The good thing from our point of view is that if he's not traded today and he decides to throw his lot in with us via the PSD we will have plenty of time to carry out proper due diligence. I'm yet to be convinced that his style of play is compatible with the style of game that Dean Bailey and the FD are trying to introduce into the club.

... and while they're at it, is there any possibility of them doing a redesign of the away jumpers so that the Demon on them looks a lot more ferocious, formidable and bloodcurdling? Perhaps a few drops of blood coming from the sharpened teeth to scare the living suitcases out of the opposition?

According to today's Herald Sun we don't exist any more. On page 85 they have a club by club round up that includes 15 clubs. Guess who missed out?

I'm not sure that Josh Fraser is a ruckman these days i.e. I think his body isn't up to the physical work required.

Congratulations Redleg. Part owner of Rock Kingdom, winner of today's Epsom Handicap (Group 1). Pity I wasn't given the tip. Hopefully, this will be a preview of a better year for the Dees! -
Firstly, let me say that I don't believe the rumour although it could be based on some of the facts that have already been speculated on in various parts of the media. Secondly, if we do get rid of a ruckman then the news is that apparently, Mumford of Geelong is out of contract and the Cats have salary cap problems. They may be willing to do a trade. There, you can add that to the rumour file!

Peter German/our relationship with Casey

An article in Inside Football confirms German's defection to Williamstown. It also says Craig Lees (football manager) will go with him, another big loss if true. -

Ironic isn't it that at the same time that Melbourne were negotiating McLean's release, Fevola was performing his antics at Crown. I'm still not so sure that Carlton gets it because the latest news in the Australian is suggesting they might consider a swap of Fev to Sydney for Barry Hall.

You're assuming that every day of my life is boring. It's not and I don't need an early or a late beer to help make life interesting. That's the good thing about people - we're all different.
