  1. Fixed but it doesn't cite the date and time of the quoted post.

Can this be fixed?
  3. Not worried about Finkelstein QC. I had Caro's people at Fairfax Media legal everything I wrote before I posted.
  4. Ian Richardson has been on the cusp of selection in previous drafts going back a few years now. I mentioned him a little while ago in State League Prospects However, I thought Mark Neeld suggested after the national draft that he would be looking for young blood in the rookie draft.
  5. Now that the thread has been found, I've merged the reincarnated thread with the original and we can call off the lynch mob. Thanks Nasher for your intrepid detective work in finding it even though, with its resurrection, the quality of this site is irrevocably damaged.
  6. I hope the mods have banned him for that!!!
  7. Caroline Wilson's credibility took another blow today when Liam Pickering dismissed suggestions she made in a recent article in Fairfax Media that the Collingwood star has a lifestyle problem. Dane Swan's manager says the Collingwood star is just fine and has no lifestyle issues "There wasn't a lot of facts to it,'' Pickering said of the call to sack Swan. Fairfax Media is ailing badly. It's circulation is plummeting and Whispering Jack Media understands that its local newspaper is about to go tabloid in an attempt to regain circulation and its long lost prestige. The tip is that if its chief football writer keeps up her recent trend of shlock journalism, the paper doesn't have a chance against the HUN which does that thing so much better.
  8. It was more than just a "service" of the office computer. More of a replacement of the system and one of the tech guys was working on it by remote overnight on the fateful evening when the thread up and disappeared. It's only a working theory of mine that this is what happened but no one knows for sure. In the meantime, please lay off Nasher. If the old thread is capable of being restored, he's the one who can do it.
  9. And just to clarify. Out primary list is full and it is unlikely to change before the PSD and rookie drafts. We have two "live" rookie draft selections which will be the third pick in each of the first two rounds.
  10. My preference is to ask whether we can go forwards in 2013 and I would say "yes" because I don't expect all of the things that went wrong for us both on and off the field in 2012 (all well documented) to go wrong again in 2013. I'm reasonably satisfied that our inclusions will help us improve and that we have a number of up and comers who did little in 2012 due to injury or lack of experience who can help improve of playing stocks and depth. As far as our losses are concerned, I recently came up with the idea of giving each of the departing players a rating for their contribution to the club in 2012 and came up with this: Retired: Clint Bartram - injured by mid season, minimal impact. Rating 2 Brad Green (veteran - outside list) - last third of the season very good but either injured or out of form before that. Rating 3 Unrestricted free agent: Jared Rivers (Geelong Cats) - a good contributor in defence or attack but was no longer important in our defensive structure. Rating 5 Restricted free agent: Brent Moloney (Brisbane Lions) - looked uninterested. Rating 2 Traded: Jordan Gysberts (North Melbourne) - one ordinary game in 2012. Rating ½ Stef Martin (Brisbane Lions) - injuries and ordinary form sealed his fate. Rating 2 Cale Morton (West Coast Eagles) - limited influence throughout and injured at the end. Rating 2 Delisted: Matthew Bate - failed to impress. Rating 2 Jamie Bennell - struggled before season ending knee injury. Rating 2 Lucas Cook - no AFL appearances. Rating 0 Liam Jurrah - a major distraction for the club and one below par game. Rating -3 Kelvin Lawrence (second-year rookie) - no AFL appearances and went home early. Rating 0 Ricky Petterd - season ruined by injury. Rating 1 Jai Sheahan (rookie) * - no AFL appearances. Rating 0 Leigh Williams (rookie) - no AFL appearances. Rating 0 The total of my rating of the departing players is 18½; out of a possible 150, barely above an average of 1 per player. I would be surprised if we can't improve on that with the influx of the new players and improvement among existing members of the list, especially with better fitness and less injuries in 2013. * I liked him at Casey and was disappointed that he was delisted but the FD must have had their reasons.
  11. Just to get this thread back on a serious note, here's the Monty Python dead parrot scene which I dedicate to our recently departed thread:-
  12. I reckon that was the case. Robbie's skills were sublime & he was definitely a once in a generation player but when it came to the Bluey, he never seemed to poll well. On the other hand, when he played for Victoria, he would invariably stand out as best on ground. Definitely a mystery that he didn't win 3 or 4 Blueys!
  13. I don't suppose she raised the looming drugs controversy about to hit a particular AFL club which, coincidentally, is the only club where a former coach has admitted openly to trying not to win a game.
  14. I have this feeling that perhaps Liam's decision to walk away might have resulted not only from his personal situation but also as a consequence of discussions that might have taken place as to what the club required of him if he were to remain on the list. This is just a hunch but, whatever the case, I wish him well in the future with both his trial, his community and family life and his football career. Apart from the personal and community issues that continue to cause so much grief, I find it sad that his mission of being a role model for indigenous youngsters coming out of desert communities had been so severely compromised. Hopefully, he can find a way to resurrect that part of his life as well as bring some harmony back to Yuendumu and the lives of its people. The football should come second to that.
  15. No she's coming of her own accord. Boom boom.
  16. To make the claim that “Fairfax Media could not find one senior person at Collingwood this week prepared to defend Swan” when Swan’s coach was not contacted shows how disingenuous her reporting has become. The McCarthy comments are just vile.
  17. Terrific stuff from everyone and a particular thank you to FNQ for spending 2 mornings of his trip down south attending training and compiling those great reports. The Dees are moving on to the NT in the next week or so. I don't suppose FNQ has the time to make the short hop over to Darwin for a few days?
  18. Whoever it was who was responsible for signing Flash to a four year deal in 2009, most of us welcomed it with open arms. The article below indicates that the signing was a "badly-needed boost" for the club. Aaron Davey signs new four-year deal with Melbourne. No doubt, if Davey, the Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Medallist that season would have been lost to the club, there would have been much condemnation of Schwab, Connolly, Bailey and any other target at the club that people feel the need to criticise. You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.
  19. And another article from the Addy:- Legs' latest mature-age success
  20. Here's an article on him from the Adelaide Advertiser that appeared about a month before the ND:- Hannath puts his hand up
  21. Really, given the open aspect of the training ground at Goschs Paddock (I assume it's there today and not at Casey Fields), you have to wonder how you can hold anything but an open session there? Like most of those of us who are bound to our workplaces or homes, I look forward to some more of the high quality reports we've been getting of late.
  22. I reckon if you want a defence of Flash then there's no better pointer than this article on the club's own website - Two spots to fill on Melbourne's list In telling us that the club "will complete its 44-man squad, when it selects two players in the December 11 NAB AFL Rookie Draft", it's saying that no other list changes are contemplated. That means the club will be honouring all contracts including Davey's and I sense that it suggests the club doesn't want to be drawn into any adverse publicity or speculation on the subject. Which makes good sense considering the publicity we've been subjected to in the media on a whole range of subjects in recent times, much of it unwarranted and some of it unquestionably mischievous. Can you imagine if this article was about Flash rather than Nicky Winmar who has been delisted by St. Kilda - AFL players' union to challenge league over St Kilda decision to axe Nick Winmar? The "vultures" will continue to circle and the story won't go away for Davey because we simply won't know whether his body will stand up to the rigors of the game for some time yet and that is where it all becomes so problematic. IMO, it would be a shame if he finished the season playing out at Casey and that sounds a strong likelihood based on the training reports from the early part of the pre season, but a contract's a contract. The Flash has been too great a contributor to the club over the past decade for him to be treated in the way St. Kilda has just treated Nicky Winmar. The decision as to Aaron Davey's future in football has to remain in his own hands.
  23. I think the whole situation with Flash is a bit enigmatic. If he can regain full fitness he could play a number of roles but the reports to date haven't been promising. I though initially that it was a case of the Demon fans at training being over critical of him but the media is also starting to take notice - Melbourne Demons have a heavenly draw in 2013
  24. I don't believe that VFL sides with AFL aligned clubs are restricted to 12 AFL players these days. Theoretically, if your entire list is fit to play then you can use 22 players in your VFL team.
