  1. The thread seems to have vanished. We're looking for it and if it can be restored, it will be but in the meantime, this is it!

  3. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Gillard was quoted on radio as saying that she looks to the press gallery to maintain standards and accuracy in reporting. Hello?
  4. Not me - I was at the dentist's. Besides, I'm a tad under 200cm. Well, actually, I'm more than a tad under - close to a foot in the old. Anyway, thanks everybody for your reports - much appreciated.
  5. I'll be in the dentist's chair. Could someone who attends please give me the training drill? Ouch.
  6. Watched till quarter time and you're right ... unsighted.
  7. Dean Kent missed selection for the WA Under 18s this year but two years earlier, he was a member of his state's Under 16 team and would almost certainly have come into contact with Jack Viney who represented SA back in those days. Here's the result from the opening game of that carnival:-
  8. Actually, we're now way down the list because we haven't left room for a pick in the PSD. I counted 13 passes in the ND which means that a number of clubs, including Port Adelaide, have left spaces open for either a delisted free agent or a place in the PSD. This is how I calculate PSD order at present:- 1. GWS Giants 2. Western Bulldogs 3. Port Adelaide 4. Richmond 5. Essendon 6. Carlton 7. Collingwood 8. Sydney Swans 9. GWS Giants 10. Richmond 11. Carlton 12. Sydney Swans 13. Sydney Swans The Rookie Draft, where we will have third pick behind GWS Giants and Gold Coast Suns, follows the PSD so we're way down the pecking order unless we delist another player. If we did that, we would possibly have the first "live" pick in the PSD if GWS decide to take Tippett. However, in view of the fact that all of our players are under contract, then in the absence of a retirement a la Clint Bartram, we won't be taking part in the PSD.
  9. No it wasn't necessary to merge threads and there was no merger either with this thread or in 1996 What happened was that we changed the thread name once Jimmy officially became a Demon which is what we did with all newcomers this year who had an existing thread to their names. Hope you enjoyed dinner. I'm off to Jimmy's Greek tonight, myself.
  10. Not for a while. Phil Hughes is closing in on another ton for South Australia against the Vic's and has his hand up high for a place if Watson FAs another fitness test.
  11. Lunch on day 4 and Chanderpaul still not out. He's on 143 of the Windies 8/639. Soon after they resume from lunch Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh will be on a hat trick having taken wickets with his last two balls before the break.
  12. On the other hand, he's an All Australian, was SA MVP in the Under 18 Carnival, is a ball magnet who disposes of the ball beautifully and is an excellent decision maker. That would make him worth a look in the rookie draft, surely?
  13. Seems that these days you rarely get more than one chance. A large number of players delisted this year must now face the fact that their AFL careers are over.
  14. This year's Shane Nelson?
  15. Meanwhile, elsewhere on this planet, Chanderpaul is still not out in the West Indies test against Bangladesh at Khulna. He's on 109 and the Windies are 4/564 in reply to 387.
  16. You might well ask what does the scene below have to do with this thread?
  17. At the moment we're working on the theory that we were hacked into by the intrepid team of investigators from the AFL who are heading the inquiry into alleged tanking. We've worked out that they reached the posts that discussed the Kreuzer Cup and the games leading up to it when Carlton's inexplicable losses were covered in depth and a thread about Terry Wallace doing nothing to win a game in the same year. At that point, the hackers apparently lost interest and left the building.
  18. I think it's time to stop the hatred directed at Scully. I feel sad for him now and in view of the rich gifts we've received as a result of his leaving, I would suggest that when we next play GWS, we replace the booing and jeering with polite handclapping.
  19. I was more in favour of giving the number to one of the more mature recruits but have no concerns with it being given to Jack Grimes. He has the head to deal with the number ... and after all's said and done ... it is just a number as others have said. I do like the concept of celebrating the club's history. We weren't always as bad as we have been the last five years and sometimes you can make a better future by drawing on the richness of your history. Ron Barassi represents the very richest part of our past so why not give Jack the chance to clean up the mess made by its previous custodian.
  20. It's going to be interesting to see if Mark Neeld makes the trip to Casey from the Gold Coast today and brings some our new young guns with him by start of training. I doubt that even the reality bus can get him there on time.
  21. Moneyball Demons grab two more experienced players in draft Terlich wears #20 in this footage from this year's SANFL grand final Check out this video on YouTube:
  22. It looks like we won't be participating in the PSD unless we delist someone but that's unlikely as all players are now contracted. The rookie draft gives us two more picks with the first of these coming in at #3. That leads us to the question of who's available or who wasn't picked tonight? I didn't hear Sam Colquhoun of Central District, SA being called out. Surprise to me as he was a prolific ball winner during the under 18 champs. I wonder if there's a story behind that? A few other names missing as well, some because of question marks about their conduct.
  23. So we have two players who played in the last two SANFL premierships. Toumpas from Woodville-West Torrens of 2011 @ Terlich from Norwood of 2012. At least there's a theme of getting players from winning cultures.
