		Farewell Jesse Hogan

John Banner (Shultz), Leon Askin (General Burkhalter) and Robert Clary (LeBeau) were other cast members who were born Jewish, the latter having been liberated from Buchenwald. Side notes: - When Klemperer was approached to play Colonel Klink, he agreed to do it only if the writers made Klink an idiot. - The scar on Askin’s face came from being beaten while in the custody of the SS. And, as a little boy, he performed in front of Franz Joseph, Emperor of Austria-Hungary. - Banner posed for U.S. Military recruiting posters during the war. - Clary was the youngest of 14 children, and is the only major cast member still living.

		Scratch Match Report

At this time of year, what attitude should one reasonably have about scratch matches. Be thankful that the blokes you put on the field are healthy and they’re getting a good preparation for the season to come. And none of our players did a Mumford. Has he been reported for that? Otherwise, the results of these games are otherwise meaningless.

		Casey Demons: 2019

Still no spare ruckman to take on the competition’s big hitters (if Goodwin uses Preuss as a foil for Gawn in the AFL side or in case of injury) other than the previously untried Buxton-Wales.

Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood

Working today so I tried to catch up via streaming but it kept stopping in mid play. Hopefully, the technology will improve. Preuss looks a definite factor for opposition defenders to deal with.

		Training - Tuesday 12th February, 2019

Quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of reading the argy bargy that continues to derail training reports. As much as I possibly can, I will be deleting such posts on sight and recommending banning posters (without any favour) if they stray off the topic of training and in particular if they represent personal attacks which are also likely to result in suspension or permanent bans for posters.

		High Flying Shaun Smith

The game was definitely broadcast on television and from memory, it was on delay in Melbourne. There were certainly photographers there and photographs were taken. I also vaguely recall seeing a flashbulb popping in one of the shots taken off the screen image. My sister was into making ceramics at the time and she made a plate with the image of the mark of the century on it - I’m going to try to find it.

		Casey Demons: 2019

An excellent point PF. I think that with our list reasonably balanced in most areas, it’s probably worth revisiting as to whether there might be a good back up ruckman out there who could fill that role and add some steel to the ruck situation at Casey. Someone like Marc Pittonet of Box Hill who destroyed us in the grand final would be handy. The only ruckman reported to be at the club (Casey) is a kid from the suburbs who we know very little about and who will face an uphill battle against the AFL and seasoned VFL big men in the competition.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AUSTIN BRADTKE

Paul Amy on Twitter “Fair chance Melbourne Category B rookie Austin Bradtke will play some Under 18 football this year. Suggestions around that he’s been given permission from the AFL to turn out for Dandenong Stingrays.” Probably a good idea since it’s 4 or 5 years since he’s played a game of AFL.
