  2. Calling this thread pornography isn’t attacking it. I would have thought it was more of a compliment to some of the regulars here. Besides which, you’re straying off topic. Didn’t Melbourne play the GWS Giants yesterday? How many kicks, handballs, marks and tackles did the unmentionable amass during the game?
  3. It’s a bit out of focus but it’s the best I could do with what I had at my disposal to take pictures. The AFL would be embarrassed to have this club playing in a final on the MCG.

  6. It looks as if there will be two compulsory changes.
  7. How many top 8 teams have we beaten now?

  9. Just do it!
  10. The key game apart from the one at Casey Fields is Box Hill v Geelong VFL at Box Hill City Oval. Hopefully, the Hawks continue on in the same form as we left them with last Saturday.

  12. Made a little quieter as a result of some unfortunate banter between people (not you DZ) who have been warned in the past about that sort of thing and had their posts hidden pending possible action by the mods. If people wish to make personal accusations about other posters, there is a procedure available - personal messages to each other in private and even then take care. The rest of us are more interested in the football than people’s vendettas.

  14. No noise of acclamation at the Adelaide Oval tonight. The Bombers lead frees 12 to 6.
  15. Goddard is going ok.
  16. As predicted, Melbourne has taken a conservative approach with both Jayden Hunt and Joel Smith. Hopefully, they will come up and play for Casey in the qualifying final next week. This means that after allowing one carry over emergency (there were 2 taken to Perth last week) Casey will have no more than 10 AFL listed players taking part in Saturday’s game v Williamstown.
  17. Yeah, it was one of our better days during that period.
  18. The fact that we have signed Austin Bradtke, 17, 205cm tall as a Category B Rookie means that at least one or both of Filipovic and King will most likely not be retained. While both of them are young and it takes time for ruckmen to develop, I think the club needs to bite the bullet and go for a player who would be able to fill Max's shoes if he gets injured in the future. Bradtke would assume the role of development ruckman and others such as Tom McD and Sam Weideman can play the role of forward/ruckmen to help out. I think that's about all a club can carry given there is no VFL development league these days.
  19. So who was responsible for the 190 point loss in the first place?
  20. The last time these teams met it was a spiteful encounter at Point Gellibrand that was dominated by the visiting Casey side which had 18 AFL-listed players and went on to win by 38 points. The difference now is that injuries have intervened against the Demons which, on my reckoning, are unlikely to have more than ten players from their MFC contingent. I’m not counting on Jayden Hunt or Joel Smith playing on the basis of the club’s conservative approach to players coming back from injury although both need the match practice if they want to break back into the senior team for the finals. With Williamstown looking to hold their place in the top four, it should be another tough game for the Demons who face a possible away final at Geelong if they lose.
  21. I rarely do this but I've had a gutful. This thread is closed and new threads on Jack Watts can only be started if they raise something new.
  22. The cue might well be in the rack but there is such a thing as pride Nasher. ? Seriously though, the question is worth asking as to whether it’s possible for teams to come back after a thrashing like the 133-point Fremantle debacle. What happens next? The commentators have latched onto the Round 23 game from 2016 when Sydney beat Richmond by 113 points. A week later, the Swans lost their Qualifying Final game to the GWS Giants by 36 points at ANZ Stadium although they did recover in time to make the Grand Final which they lost to the Bulldogs. The Tigers’ next match was the opening game of 2017 in which they beat Carlton by 43 points and, by year’s end, they were the premiers. On the way to winning that flag Richmond played St Kilda in Round 16 when the Saints won by 67 points at Etihad Stadium after leading 14.8.92 to 1.4.10 at half time when a pall of smoke from plastic melting in microwaves hung over Melbourne. The Tigers won 9 of their next 10 games including the return game v the Saints by 41 points and of course, the grand final. And what happened to St Kilda in the game immediately after their big win over Richmond? They returned to Etihad and endured a 10 goal defeat to Essendon. But the most outstanding comeback would have to be in Round 18, 1979 when Melbourne beat Essendon by 29 points after suffering the biggest defeat in VFL/AFL history by 190 points one week earlier to Fitzroy at Waverley. That’s a turnaround of 219 points - a result that would give great solace to those of us who are hoping against hope that the Dockers can make a similar recovery and beat the Pies at the weekend. Not to mention, the Cats falling from grace and losing to the Suns to allow Port Adelaide back into the premiership race.? Anything could happen!
  23. Whispering_Jack replied to old55's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Buried in last Sunday’s GAMEDAY thread, I made the comment at half time:- “We are poised for a big third quarter - they don’t call it the premiership quarter for nothing and this is it for us. “We look the better team and I think we are ready to exploit their weaknesses.” As it turned out I was wrong in that we didn’t win the third quarter but I was right about the final outcome and it was achieved with a positive mindset in the last 10 minutes. Now that we’re back on home turf we really do need to harness this among supporters so they turn up in their numbers and really support them with noise. We were like that in our golden ere.
  24. I have a feeling that Josh Wagner will get a call up this week at Charlie Spargo’s expense with Tom Bugg in as the carry over emergency.
  25. Imagine him pointing the finger at Jonesy and telling him what he’s done wrong.
