TRAINING: Monday 11th November 2019
Since we drafted Finlayson and Langdon specifically to play on the wing, it might get very crowded there with Sparrow.

Pick 2 in the Preseason Draft
The problem with drafting him in the PSD is that he has to be entered into that draft and I donāt think thatās the case. Sokol will enter the national draft.

2019 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Matt Balmer (Fox Sports) presents his Top 25 draft prospects: Future AFL stars headline class of 2019 If the selections at the draft meeting follow his Top 25, the Demons will select - 3. Hayden YOUNG āClubs: Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country Position: Medium Defender Size: 188cm, 83kg Bio: Youngās standout trait is his biggest weapon, with the left footer able to slice through opposition teams exceptionally well. His vision to find targets out of the back half makes him a top pick, with a number of outstanding highlights coming in the Under 18 Championships. The 18-year-old averaged 22 disposals and 5.3 marks during the carnival, playing behind the ball and controlling the play for Vic Country. He has remained consistent in the back-half of the year, with three consecutive strong outings against the Dragons, Power and Ranges ā collecting 25 or more touches in each game. Young is also a strong intercept mark and reads the play well.ā 8. Brodie KEMP āClubs: Bendigo Pioneers/Vic Country Position: Utility Size: 192cm, 89kg Bio: A ruptured ACL ended Kempās season in July, just as the 18-year-old was looking to push his case to be a top-five selection. Kempās Under 18 Championships were exceptional, finding a role up forward as he booted the matchwinning goal against South Australia. He has the capabilities to play down back and through the midfield, averaging 20 disposals and 6.5 marks during the carnival. Kemp wants to be a midfielder in the future and given his 192cm heights, clubs will certainly be watching him closely as they consider selecting the Vic Country prospect with a top-ten pick.ā

2019 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
A little while ago, I referred to Big Footyās Pie4Life and his power rating chart. He has recently updated and expanded it to his top 60:-

Deven Robertson (Drafted by Brisbane)
Deven Robertson attracting top-10 interest ahead of AFL Draft after being likened to Joel Selwood āRobertson is more mature than your average 18-year-old ā and itās easy to see why the natural-born leader was named All-Australian captain after an impressive under-18 national championships for Western Australia.ā

Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
Conventional wisdom among the draft cognoscenti is that the draftās top ten is strong and the talent pool tapers off badly after that. If thatās right then 7, 8 and 10 sounds good, especially when looking at our recent experience with players drafted around 3/4 like Cale Morton and Jimmy Toumpas. As I said, itās a pity we canāt travel in time.
-
Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
No. By the time the 2008 draft came around Cyril Rioli was, as you point out, a premiership player with Hawthorn. Cyril was actually taken in the 2007 draft and itās debatable that he was āclearlyā the best in his draft which produced Brownlow Medal winners Trent Cotchin and Patrick Dangerfield and the likes of Alex Rance and Harry Taylor. Still, given that we took Cale Morton that year, if we all had the benefit of hindsight, we might well have burned the place down ? but thatās the thing about drafting. We canāt travel in time (yet).

Cyril Rioli
Possibly because that āretiredā player took part in a game of football less than 24 hours ago and, at the age of 30, itās not inconceivable that someone that age might be convinced to make a comeback?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
As per the previous posts, a rookie spot is all that would be required to secure Bennell so Geelong could reach the same deal as the one suggested. In fact, a sign that Melbourne might be edging closer to such a deal could be the upgrading of a current rookie to the primary list.
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Essentially, this is what is being suggested that Melbourne wants to do with Bennell by having him agree to train with the club with a view to selecting him as a pre-season supplemental selection in March 2020 in the same way as we took Jay Lockhart as a rookie in March this year. Obviously, as part of the deal, he would have to reach the clubās required standards of fitness and conduct in that time.

2020 AFL Fixture
Why is that a negative? There was a kick in it in our round 22 game and we were operating at about 60% rat power. With a reasonable list that translates to a 5 or 6 goal win.
