  1. ï»żRichardson on Luke Jackson on SEN today "It's as if he hasn't read the book on how to be a tall player. "He rates tackle, groundball, chase etcetera as highly as he does marking. It's like we have another onballer."
  2. If tennis is an “essential service” in Victoria then so is footy.
  3. Demons hand AFL lifeline to Daw Door open for discarded Roo after receiving invitation to train with Demons I’m not sure what to make of this. My recollection of Daw’s form on comeback was that he struggled. This is virtually a second lifeline and he has also had personal issues in his life of late. Things won’t be easy for him given the physical and mental barriers he has to overcome. It’s almost a flashback to last year and Harley Bennell but at least the club is thinking outside the square.
  4. Well, that was quick. The Herald Sun is running a story by Rebecca Williams dated today headed “Local Footy: Ex-AFL stars set to play local footy in 2021” “WHERE ARE THEY NOW? MAJAK DAW The former Kangaroo has found a new football home in the northern suburbs where he will play alongside a North Melbourne great. Daw has signed with division one Northern Football League side North Heidelberg for the next two seasons. The 29-year-old will link up with former teammate and AFL games record holder Brent Harvey and will also play alongside his brother, Anthony. Daw was delisted at the end of last season after 54 games for the Kangaroos. He made an inspirational return to the game in Round 9 last year after recovering from a fall from the Bolte Bridge. “We view the arrival of Majak as a big plus for the club as we look to consolidate in Division 1 of the NFNL after our third position finish in season 2019,” the club said.” At least Majak will feel at home with the Demons at Casey Fields. If I remember correctly, he might have played a game with some of them in a composite team for players who didn’t make their AFL teams last year while in the Sunshine Coast hub.

Baldwin wouldn’t have been a great option as he’s recovering from a second ACL.
  6. Clubs have been allowed to add more players to their training lists ahead of the supplemental draft in March. The Hawks have added Jackson Callow a highly regarded KPP who surprisingly missed out on being drafted last year. AFL releases updated summer train-on list, first scratch matches AFL TRAIN-ON LIST Adelaide: Nick Murray (Williamstown), Ayce Taylor (Adelaide) Carlton: Oscar McDonald (Melbourne), Callum Moore (Carlton), Zavier Maher (Murray Bushrangers) Collingwood: Jack Briskey (Sherwood Magpies) Essendon: Angus Baker (Canberra), Charlie Byrne (Murray Bushrangers), Alec Waterman (Claremont) Hawthorn: Will Bravo (Dandenong Stingrays), Jackson Callow (North Launceston/Norwood) Melbourne: Kobe Farmer (Peel Thunder), Deakyn Smith (Dandenong Stingrays) North Melbourne: Flynn Appleby (Collingwood), Sam Skinner (Brisbane) Richmond: Nic Couroupis (West Adelaide), Josh Green (Marist), Rhyan Mansell (Woodville West Torrens), Derek Smith (Richmond) W est Coast: Will Collins (Swan Districts), Cedric Cox (Brisbane/West Coast WAFL), Nick Martin (Subiaco) Western Bulldogs: Ewan MacPherson (Northern Knights), Corey Preston (Eastern Ranges), Anthony Scott (Footscray)
  7. Now that this thread has outlasted his career, surely he can be named?

On a brighter note Ben Brown is the father of a new baby girl. I saw the announcement on Instagram and, after congratulating the new parents, made a plea that he doesn't sit her on his knee for the next few weeks.
  9. I wouldn’t get carried away by 2-0. Our opposition has been ordinary. Still, a win’s a win and two wins are two out of two which is a 100% record. However, North Melbourne and Fremantle appear to be the front runners and the big tests are yet to come.
  10. I tend to agree. in light of recent events, the longest thread on Demonland should be restored to its rightful place in our media. Unfortunately, that place was filled very quickly after events in Washington a month ago, so for the time being, it’s returning to our General Board. Apologies to those who might be offended by the contents of this thread.
  11. That Will Bravo might sound like a West Indian cricketer but in fact he apparently goes well at football. He was added to the train on playing list at Hawthorn as a potential supplemental draftee after Tom Scully’s recent retirement announcement.

I know it’s belated but we can add Ben Brown to the list. It was also a “minor procedure” so probably - 4 to 6 weeks.
  13. I also echo my thanks and appreciation to our track watchers. I’m interested in Luke Jackson’s position this year. Will it be as the back up ruck for Max, a key forward or as a wingman or even a midfielder?

He had the surgery this morning. Knee surgery for new Demon Ben Brown

  16. And that’s all she wrote. Dees 56 Suns 35. Now get me outta here.
  17. Not much scoring. The sting’s gone out of the game.
  18. Perkins gets her second - Suns trail by 21 points at three quarter time.
  19. That’s Hore’s third - lead now 28 points.
  20. Reply from the Suns. We lead 49 to 27.
  21. First blood to the Dees - Petrevski.
  22. At this stage of proceedings, Karen Paxman (sponsored by Demonland) has my three votes. Her attack on the ball is ferocious and she’s a constant avenue of supply to the forwards. I’m really impressed by the standard of the game. The ground is in magnificent shape (especially in light of the number of games played here last year), the surface is like carpet, there’s a light breeze and despite the humidity, conditions are great. The marking and kicking are so much better than in the first couple of seasons. Lily Mithen is also up there with Tyla Hanks and Hore and Cunningham are dangerous up forward. Daisy has been hovering around not doing all that much but directing proceedings with her experience. There are very few Demon fans here so I’m quiet at the moment.
  23. Hore gets slung around the neck and with the resultant free goals on the siren. Melbourne 7.1.43 to Gold Coast 3.3.21 They should travel up in game day more often.
