  1. I was surprised to read that the coach of the Irish team is a former MFC listed player Anthony Tohill. He never played seniors for us and I remember nothing about him. Anyway, the build up to the game here is about as exciting as the above snippet of information.
  2. That would be right. I've seen several Broncos guernseys on the streets, a few Titans jumpers but not a single GCS or Lions outfit. I'm going on Friday night to support our three lads and have a look at the stadium but it doesn't appear to be attracting any publicity.
  3. It was said elsewhere that we can fit four of the following five in defence:- Frawley Garland Rivers T McDonald Davis That being the case, the fact that Tom McDonald was grouped with the forwards is of interest. He came to the club as a ruckman/forward but looked very much at home this year in defence. Does he have what it takes to hold down a key forward spot?
  4. I'm very disappointed in Redleg. Last night during the massive rainstorm on the Coast we found shelter at Baskin & Robbins and they have a special on their banana ice cream. Redleg declined to partake. Not only that but he reckons he's also going to pass on the opportunity to watch Brad Green skipper the Aussies in Friday night's IR game against Ireland. That means he also misses out on seeing James Frawley and the best and most honest footballer to come out of the 2009 national draft Jack Trengove.
  5. Being on the Gold Coast ATM, I missed the 3rd ODI v SA. What happened?
  6. Close but no cigar. Actually $7.95 per kilo down there. My highlight on the coast so far came when I picked up my copy of today's HUN and there, on the front page was a snap of the unmentionable one in charcoal and orange drag on top of a headline that screamed out, "Rats in our ranks". OK, the story under the headline had nothing to do with the little bugger but it made my day.
  7. Taking the wives with us so the accommodation will be somewhat more salubrious. At least we'll be in genuine banana country.
  8. I, coached the Demonland/Demonology team to three massive victories today but I have a dilemma. Half of my players were still partying at 6.45 am and about eight of them turned up hung over. What disciplinary measures should I have adopted if any?
  9. Great movie from that era was Blow-up starring David Hemmings and Vanessa Redgrave. Also featured a rare performance of The Yardbirds with both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. The latter left the band a few months after the movie was made.
  10. NFL

Like a few others I'm a huge 49ers fan. I visited the place in the late 80s when they were going through their golden era and it cost huge $'s to go to Candlestick Park. I believe they're traveling well for the first time in ages with a new coach who has problems with his opposition counterparts shaking hands after games.
  11. I wish you a speedy recovery.
  12. Funny that, I went to school on the same school bus with Izzy Dye and my son went to school with his daughter.
  13. I remember going with a few mates to a dance called Penthouse in North Road, Ormond when the great Laurie Allen and Bobby Bright were on the bill. It was 1964 and the pair were popular artists on the The Go!! Show as well as a couple of popular music programmes emanating from the Channel 2 studios at Ripponlea. To use the modern vernacular, the night of the dance was "massive". Hundreds of screaming young girls turned up and they outnumbered us males by 5:1. We thought, "how good is this?" Problem was that when Bobby & Laurie were done, so were the chicks. For the rest of the night the males outnumbered the females 5:1 and alas, the three shillings spent on entry went down the toilet. On reflection, it was a pretty good time. The Demons were on a roll, virtually invincible and on our way to a premiership flag, we could safely hitchhike wherever we wanted to go and we were young and free. What a time it was!
  14. Er ... anyone for another name change to this thread?
  15. Bananas is already a tag for this thread and you're right - anyone who maintains their loyalty for the red & blue for a long time in the circumstances has to be bananas and a bit of a fruit loop. The fact that Redleg and I post here just confirms this as a fact.
  16. Now changing to "Not a TS, JO'M, BC or MC Thread" to cater for that bloke from the Lions who prefers Yo ho Freo to It's a Grand Old Flag. He's got to be a cretin, surely?
  17. What are we doing playing that stuff in South Africa and who are the people who come to watch it?
  18. I thought he had a funny action (I know it's no longer pc to call someone a chucker) but his best effort apart from partnering Botham in that remarkable 500/1 recovery was surely this - .
  19. I forgot to mention that he's the pick of the bunch.
  20. Redleg, You'll be delighted to know that I've put you down for a coaching position with the Demonland/Demonology team purely on the basis that one of our players is called "Bananas".
  21. If you keep this up we might have to exert some discipline and change the name again to "Not a BS Thread"!
  22. Rumour that Kevin Sheedy is going to throw a lifeline to Andy Lovell. Like Junior Mac he'll have dual role as a player and mentor for the young guns who will learn all of the social graces from him.
  23. It's on tomorrow morning and will be streamed through the TAC Cup website. I'm going to witness it first hand.
  24. ... and did you notice that the poor bloke who wears # 31 missed out on selection in the senior team?
