  1. Think you are underesting how difficult it is to play midfield. The backline was a great place to start where he could first use his silky skills to mop up and later develop his one on one defending. He has a simple role and is doing it brilliantly. Throwing him the midfield so late this year may do more harm than good. He is slightly built and would be purely outside. I remember about five years ago when they tried Salem in the midfield. It didn't work. Let's maybe revisit in a year or so.
  2. Me too. I have this idea of a quick, hard running 192cm + midfielder with great skills who can hit targets. A Finn Callahan type. Then again someone like McKercher would be an ideal replacement for Viney...
  3. Certainly not outside. He's a tough, in and under with decent outside skills. My only queries are his size and whether this is the sort of midfielder that Melb. needs.
  4. One thing you notice from the replay is what a good job Jordon generally did on Neale.
  5. ANB's value to the team is his hard running and work rate. Essentially he is a link man that isn't afraid to get involved and lay a tackle. Unfortunately, his fumbling and skill errors can be very costly. We can't just find an replacement that runs as hard as ANB, but we can find a player that is more sure-handed and has better disposal. Laurie and Howes are simply not ready yet.
  6. Mmnn, the way a side moves the ball out of defence is crucial these days. We already have BBB and the Melk that are not the best at chasing or defensive efforts...
  7. Lions midfield dominated the corridor in the second and third. Very hard to defend and use your extra numbers when they are streaming through like that
  8. Wow, give McVee the whole bloody thing. What a gun! Credit to those who recruited him. Credit to those who have developed him. And credit to himself for being my new favourite player!
  9. Man o man! That was feckin awesome. Love feckin with Brisbane's minds! Persistence and refusal to give it away. Some highlights. Some of one on one contests by Rivers, Smith and Mc Vee. Max back to dominating best. Jake the snake. The left foot snap and that mark. Viney's goal. Sheer will power. Viney full stop. Kozzie lookin dangerous again. Hated: May's game. Spargo's game and Langdon's game. Hunter wasn't great either.
  10. Smith played amazingly coming on! Won critical contests.
  11. 6. Gawn 5. McVee 4. Tracc 3. Viney 2. Melk 1. Pickett
  12. Kinda surprised how easily the Lions can break down our game plan and hurt us with their kicking game. Not just that but how they can dominate in the air.
  13. Positives: McVee is sensational. Tracc kicking straight. BBB decent target.
  14. Opened up like a can of worms. Wings are vulnerable. Our bottom six are getting exposed for skill deficiencies. Can't defend the corridor.
  15. Hot start, could have been hotter with Melksham kicking a couple extra. Would love to blow them away now and then defend for the second half.
  16. Ah Corfu, check out the cricket pitch in the middle of the town. Bizarre!
  17. That accounts for one poor game I guess...
  18. How many chances will Kozzie get? Harmes, Chandler, Grundy, van Roo have all paid the price.
  19. Judd has probably been our biggest positive for the year. A pleasure to watch. Speed and smarts wrapped in silk Salem's return to form is a distant second.
  20. Good post. A couple of flankers and quality small forwards and they'll be around the mark. They have three huge Academy picks this year.
  21. I dunno. All things considered I didn't think he he did a bad job in the last couple of seasons. Always losing players. Built a crazy good young midfield. In two years, GC will be the best team in it.
  22. I meant his injury. His form today was good!
  23. Thought McVee was excellent... again!
  24. I want us to win the flag. Use the potential we have. Our game is not in good shape. Most of us here will not accept another straight sets exit.
