  1. It really does work a treat, right? Further testament to this is that it works for me which is quite the feat considering I watch a true crime episode every night before sleeping. A messy murder every night and it still works. Amazing.
  2. Gussy was the master of nicknaming. I reckon he’d have a field day with the current crop. Yet another on the long and ever-growing list of reasons for missing him 💔
  3. I refuse to call Luker Suzanne! Or Filthy, for that matter. Unless and until the boys come up with a nickname, Luker it is. It’s a great name because there’s never any confusion about who we’re referencing since he’s the only Luker.
  4. Today Richo came across from AAMI to Gosch’s with someone I’ve never seen before. Turns out he’s a former Melbourne Storm player who now works for Storm in some other capacity (coaching or admin, I’m not sure). His name is Ryan Hoffman and while I didn’t speak with him, my friend who’s a training and gameday volunteer at Storm did because they know one another. Apparently Ryan is working for our club in some sort of consultancy role on a one day a week basis. So yeah, seems we’re giving out these one day a week gigs left, right and centre. 😅
  5. But why? We don’t call Luker Luka. The new season can’t get here quickly enough
  6. I’m thinking it might be the prospect of being part of a revitalised midfield. 🤷‍♀️
  7. So, now it’s official. Noah Yze signed with the Sandringham Zebras today. He’ll have Pup Brown as a teammate.
  8. Here’s what I do to aid falling asleep: I start at the beginning and name each player in jumper number order. It works a treat. I rarely get past Spaz. I change it up at times and start from the highest jumper number and go backwards. Try it! You’re welcome 😃 Edit: during the women’s season it’s our women’s turn to help me nod off 😴
  9. At least we only do it after Kozzy goals (and Banno in the W). The Bulldogs do it after every goal: “Doggy Doggy Doggy…”
  10. I didn’t ask him about “Ron” as in, have his teammates adopted it, but I will. It’s actually a good nickname for him imo. The first time I heard “Whitey” being called out I sighed deeply, with a little eye roll. So unimaginative.
  11. Oh, I totally agree. I don’t like the Oi Oi Oi thing, but far be it from me to ask to have it dropped. It’s liked by the majority of the cheer squad.

  13. As Andy has explained (above) the sausage sizzle is on Saturday 13th December at 8:30am at Gosch’s. For Friday’s session hungry little devils/demons will have to make do with food brought from home, or if you’re happy to spend a small fortune food from Edwin’s Cafe (on the outside of AAMI) is pretty good. There’s numerous eateries in Swan Street (a couple of minutes away from Gosch’s) as well as a Coles supermarket. Last resort: you can get coffee and hot food and snacks from the kiosk at Richmond station. I’d strongly advise against buying a sandwich from there though. I recently warned another track-watcher who’s also a Demonlander and he went ahead and had a sanga and immediately regretted it. To said track-watcher/Demonlander: I’m not one to say I told you so, but… I did tell you so! 😝
  14. I can do this just off the top of my head! It’s my superpower 🤩 I shall furnish your request this evening, for now I must work. The goddamned money tree in my backyard ain’t yielding like it should.
  15. He loves it though. And isn’t that what matters? His nickname is Trelly, regardless of what others think it should be.
  16. I had a good chat with Riley (who’s not enamoured with the nickname Onley Fans but “it is what it is”) He said he missed 14 weeks last season with a hammy and that it still affects him. I thought he meant physically and I said “So are you technically rehabbing to a degree?” He said, “No, not at all. But I’m still mindful of it, probably because it wasn’t that long ago.” I thought how remarkable to be so young but have the wisdom of someone twice his age.
  17. Something I only recently discovered is that Shane is now a dad. Little Mia is ten weeks old. He showed me photos of her and she looks so much like him. He smiled when I said that. Unlike Maysie whose beautiful baby girl Millie is the spitting image of him but when I said that he said “Poor thing!” 😅 On the subject of dads: I asked Koz if Bellanie (20 months old) is getting into everything. Without pausing he said, “everything, everywhere, any time, any place” 😅 Earlier this year he said Bellanie was already talking (at a younger age than expected). Today I asked if she’s still talking a lot. He said, “She never shuts up, eh. Ever.” 😅 The word “Ever” was power packed.
  18. XT’s nickname is indeed “Reg” (his middle name is Reginald, his grandfather’s name). He came to the club with it and wasn’t sure it would stick, but it has. He’s also fine with “Reggie.” We (the DA) need to know nicknames for the purpose of handheld banners and signs etc., as well as for chants. I was walking with Koz and Trelly and I told them we plan to chant Trelly Trelly Trelly Oi Oi Oi when he goals. Firstly, the look on Trelly’s face… priceless. He was rapt. He was like “Really???” I’m not 100% sure but I think he was blushing. But even more heartwarming, I snuck a look at Kozzie’s face (he was looking down at the ground but listening) and the unmistakable smile of pride was quite something. I told them some in the DA wanted to chant Kuzzy Kuzzy Kuzzy etc. but we’ve decided it sounds too similar to Kozzie Kozzie Kozzie. Trelly said “Yeah, I don’t want him (Koz) stealing the glory for my goals” 😅
  19. I didn’t ask but he mentioned it anyway: he’s gonna be fine before the season starts. Incidentally, someone on here recently commented on how Jack seems to have had a weight lifted from his shoulders. This is definitely the case. He seems to be enjoying a new sense of freedom, it’s like he’s been unshackled. It’s so good to see.
  20. You’re right, Vines said he’s doing a lot of both stationary bike and pool. And when he wasn’t tapping players’ hands when they came on and off the ground or helping out with the rehab guys he was on the bike.
  21. Never mind the absence of a mask, how [censored] annoying is that thing?! It’s making my eardrums scream, and I can’t even hear them.
  22. He said it’s not serious. I’ve been lied to before as we all know well, but Jack doesn’t have a poker face. Ergo… it’s not serious.
