  1. You're right, Bennell does like to present up the wing. He has great burst of speed and can peel of his man very easily to create an option. This was shown in the very first goal on Sunday where he picked it up and sprinted into the forward 50 and centered the ball which Dunn kicked
  2. Bennell will be one of the best small forwards in the future. I can guarantee you that
  3. I don't care what anyone says, but I watch Bennell closely and he is probably our smartest and most talented players he just doesn't seem to be able to find the ball as much as we would like.
  4. Really liked how we played also. He reminded me of Jack Grimes the way he moved, ran back with the flight of the ball and provided much needed pace rebounding from our back line. I always thought we needed to replace him after the Bulldogs match, but every match I'm beginning to see how awesome our back line is developing. With players like Frawley going up for the grab, Colin Garland and Rivers being spoil experts with Bartram and Grimes providing the run. Everything is coming together
  5. Err.. Why are people considering dropping Joel Macdonald? Every time I saw him in a one on one, he played it very smart and won it nearly every time. I hardly saw him make any errors or poor judgment calls of the footy.
  6. I've seen Petterd out a few times at the Hawthorn, he probably wouldn't be able to live with not being able to go out clubbing or to a bar in the Gold Coast. But realistically, if you were Petterd and were interviewed you would respond in the same manner if you had intentions of leaving. You wouldn't come out and say you are bailing or thinking about it straight out, especially with the awkwardness surrounding his club and team mates. If he has guaranteed he is staying wearing the red and blue, he would make it official by signing THE CONTRACT. No he has not confirmed he is staying, and no he has not confirmed he is leaving. Everyone saying their glad he is staying, stop spreading false hope as nothing yet is set in stone. //endrant_sickofhearingaboutPetterdleavingorstayingjustwaitforthecontracttobesigned_cheers
  7. Agreed. Dunn could have kicked another 2 goals that game as well, he was all over Shaw like a cheap suit.
  8. Watts will be > than Reiwoldt in a few years time. I'd rather be in this position now with a very strong backline and an emerging forward line, than a strong forward line with an emerging backline. Defense win championships.
  9. massive face palm at Warnocks kick in the end. I was yelling out saying kick long to the boundary, why not make it a contest then hopefully we mark it or spills over the line for a throw in.. why accurate cute kick it that close to try and maintain possession... And I don't care what anyone says, Jack Watts had a terrible game. He looks absolutley lost out there, and that showed when he picked up the footy and literally WALKED into a Collingwood player to get tackled and payed holding the ball, which resulted in a Collingwood goal. Where the hell is our Justice? I wanted a repeat of Port Adelaide game in the end. sigh face
  10. I heard that Jack Watts recorded the fastest sprint time for a non-indigenous player. Why is it that all the time I see him play he is roaming around and watching the ball float into our forward 50 and not going up for a contestant mark, and refusing to under-utilize his fast agility? He looks like more like he is keen on crumming the ball and hoping it falls at his feet than working for it. Occasionally he has pushed up the ground and taken some great contested marks leading out on the wing or in the center, but we need that that inside our forward 50. We have players like Bate and Bennell who can take great leading contested marks and find him leading around our forward 50. Also, our forward line do not have a bonding chemistry to help players out. I don't see any blocks or subtle shepherds to allow a 5 meter advantage so our key players can lead up and take marks. In conclusion, I don't believe its Jack Watts himself that is the problem, I believe its our chemistry we have in our forward line and the way in which we deliver the ball. We will definitely see some changes over the years and need a few more pre-seasons to get the forward structure very competitive. We have done amazingly well with our back-line and midfield, we cant expect to have everything falling into our laps yet just because we have had great drafting.
  11. We have a lot of midfielders to throw around and mix up. Not to mention a lot of games and time to set everyone's position in the future. From what I saw with Gybserts in his first match, that guy is a ball magnet and seems to be very suave in his ability to dispose of it cleanly. Honestly, someone with that sort of ability would be deadly in the back line. So if we had to make a change, swapping those two if they are in our starting 22 would be something to look at in my opinion.
  12. Its awesome reading our young players we have up coming to represent Melbourne in the future. And lol at people mentioning "Viney" and "Tapscott", has everyone forgotten about Sam Blease? I've seen some footage of him playing and looked incredible. The spread of players we have to look to is amazing. Our midfield and back line are pretty much set in stone, can't wait to see our forward line develop as a core with Watts, Jurrah, Aussie, Bennell, Tapscott roaming up there.
  13. As 21 year old myself, I know that being offered money to change ships in my respected field is a big thing to think about. Hopefully the thought of the transition to a different state would be too overwhelming for the dollar signs. Lets just pray all our new boys bond a massive chemistry over the years to come in which they can set their sights on a premiership at Melbourne in the future. Everyone has been stating we have the best young talent to work with, hopefully we can keep them all.
  14. oh wow St kilda...
  15. You cant expect Cale to stand out coming back from an injury and playing in that sort of humidity in a hard fought out match. He reminds me of Travis Johnston how he takes a while to react, however Cale has missed the new run and carry and taking the game on style of play we have developed this year. Let him get used to it week by week, and he will find his form.
  16. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/tom-scully-shows-he-is-top-shelf-with-a-nab-rising-star-nomination/story-e6frf9jf-1225865232360 "It's just game experience and early on he helped me with how to prepare. It's good to have another young guy come through like Jack, and we experience the same things. He's going to be a super player and to have a teammate like that for the next 10 years, we'll build a special bond." - Scully Looks like your going to have to poach Jack Watts as well Richmond by the sounds of it ;D
