This all has a certain similarity to early last season. Vince cops a week for the exact same charge. But beyond the Bernie castigations vs. MRP outrage at the surface, there was a sense that his omission wasn't too crucial as we had put in a good all-round midfield performance the week before (North) and weren't certain how we could otherwise squeeze in a side-lined midfielder (Brayshaw). This time it's Tyson and I hope we learned our lesson last time.

Reciting poetry and listening to folk music is the very reason the MFC can't go more than one round. Time to toughen up. ‘I say, the drought is over, the drought is over, biddy-bye-bye! Barry Prenders could have moulded a better list with the number of free hits that SOS had. Look closely at the actual strike rate.

Big Max's beard and the red yoke behind his head make him look like Count Dracula or some strange Elizabethan courtier with a jabot. Heppel just looks like a mop. That one you've been keeping in case something spills one day that you don't want to use the good mop for.

THE DROUGHT IS OVER by George on the Outer - POST MATCH DISCUSSION
Skuit replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree. Roos was fawning over Vince all game as well and Richo was probably unhappy with the Vince hit behind play. But it’s strange set of votes. One of the coaches gave either Vince or Gawn full points while the other didn’t rate them at all. And only one of the coaches rated Jones. -
Why are the AFL keeping the Petracca fumble and goal to themselves? It was a sweet strike of the ball followed up by some jubilant celebrations with a bit of character from a recent no. 2 draft pick and future superstar.

A questionable sense of humour and standing too close to Jack Viney.

I miss Alex Georgiou.

This cat has probably used up his nine lives. And there's no use bringing up parity or precedence to defend a charge with the MRP. But: the hit was graded LOW impact - so there shouldn't be given too much weight given to the effect of the impact - and INTENTIONAL to the head. The only approach then would be to argue it wasn't intentional. Or, that it wasn't intentional to the head - which is much more difficult with the duty-of-care clauses in place when electing to make contact. So: in the moment prior to contact, Wright dishes off a handball from a low body position with Bernie in pursuit. Bernie is too late to legally make the tackle and can't halt his momentum so raises his arm to avoid contact. Wright raises his head from the low position and contact is made. Note: Bernie's arm continues on an upward trajectory as Wright's head is rising as if adjusting to avoid contact. Kiss that Brownlow goodbye Bernie.

Brief wrap-up on the AFL site - 'Around the State Leagues' in the Don't Miss section. Not much else to add/no mention of Frost.

Could Weideman replace Smith down back?

THE DROUGHT IS OVER by George on the Outer - POST MATCH DISCUSSION

Garlett kicked 3 goals. Thought it might be worthwhile to give it a mention. -
Th height difference between Nick and Joel is next to nothing. On my 15'' laptop monitor, from here to here.

I'm not an out-and-out Watts detractor. I like some of the things he brings to the team. But there's no way he should ever be considered for a run-with role.
-
You're both right. It's useful and pertinent information.

I probably need to look back on the footage, but seriously? Regardless, quoth Simon: 'If people think that we’re thinking about the track record and history against St Kilda, then they’re wrong.'

What would your ultimate forward-line look like? Jesse doesn't even get close to a look in. Betts Cameron Rioli Franklin Kennedy Roughead Too tall?

Ditto. This seems like the most blatant outright advertising pitch with generic copy imaginable. And for a betting agency. Mods?

Dees supporters the most passionate (by far)

You should probably google '2000 AFL grand final'. On second thoughts . . . -
Dees supporters the most passionate (by far)

This just reinforces the stereotype. We're the only club where the bulk of its supporters can afford to go to the footy. -
I'll second that jeepers.

Considering Richmond or St Kilda as potential worthwhile rivals is an indictment on our football club.

Yes, Jones should be concentrating on improving his game. Not sitting around sending text messages like a square-eyed millennial.

Brendon Bolton, Brad Scott, Mark Neeld and I think Paul Roos.
