70s football ...
I was born in the 70s and have a fleeting memory of watching some of the 1979 Grand Final but the 80s was my childhood exposure to footy. In terms of style and mindset of footy, the 80s were similar to the 70s. It was the 90s that saw a lot more athleticism and professionalism come in. TISM have quite a few footy references in their songs. Ron Hitler-Barassi is a die hard Richmond supporter and the rest of early TISM members were Sainters (the video clip to "Greg! The Stop Sign" was filmed at Linton Street, Moorabbin). I went to the gig at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl last night, was a great night! 😃

2025 Membership
Maybe, maybe not. I am a Carlton Member as well as a Dees Member and whilst both apps are clunky and not particularly user friendly I have definitely had more issues with the MFC software compared to the CFC software (they should be the same/similar). In 2023 each time I wanted to go to an MFC gane I had to contact the club to send me an email with a separate bar coded ticket attached. Was annoying. That was despite a dozen times deleting and re-installing the app. They said they will send me a membership card this year (CFC do this automatically, no need to opt in). Just my observations based on past recent experience.

The Drums are starting to beat for North
I don't think there is a magic number for Melbourne teams but North have always been a victim of their geography. Always overshadowed by powerful clubs with huge supporter bases on their doorstep (Essendon & Carlton). Did not take advantage of a repositioning as Footscray did by playing some games in Ballarat. They are simply limited in attracting new supporters, especially having been a poorly performing side for so long, when Melbourne was booming demographically and they could have attracted new supporters without previous club loyalties.

Nuggets' Music Videos
Have caught Nunchuka Superfly in Geelong and Melbourne a few times as well. Prefer the Hard-Ons though.

Jack Martin
Will be interesting to see if he can get fit and get a solid patch of consecutive games at Kardinia Park. Certainly has talent, not sure his body will hold up though.

I caught the Hard-Ons at The Tote in Collingwood last night, was a good gig. Enjoyed it 🍺🤘😊

Jack Martin
Lucky to get a 2 year deal, I would have only offered him 1 year.

2025 Membership
Credit card got hit with $350 for a Digital Membership auto renewal today (despite opting out on the MFC app a few weeks ago). Called up and said I want to ditch Digital Membership (Kayo) and take a 3 home GA Membership instead. They said sure no probs and they will refund $200 in the next few days. Relatively easy and painless 👍

Matt Kennedy
The coaches didn't cover themselves in glory there 👎

Matt Kennedy
You can't compare Kennedy to Cripps and Tracc but he is a good honest footballer who can play several roles if needed. A handy club man who tries at whatever role he is thrown. I hope he isn't traded by Carlton now, he sits on 99 games for the Blues and has a baby son, Theodore (just thinking ahead .... 😁) ... he is a handy player to have around.

Matt Owies
Wishing Owies all the best out West, in many ways a limited footballer but he is an accurate kick for goal and I kind of like it when forwards kick goals 😊

5 year contract cap suggested
Yeah Nah ... Jacob Weitering just signed and extension to stay a Blue until the end of 2031. Honestly, I think it depends on the player. Some I feel comfortable signing long-term, most I don't. Medical retirements are another issue that needs some type of specific regime created.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
If the Dees can end up with 5 & 9 that is a great outcome 👍 I wouldn't be wanting to move further up in this draft.

Welcome to Demonland: Harry Sharp
Could be a solid pick up, not easy getting games at the Lions 👍

Dan Houston
Seems like the Pies are going all in to try for another flag now. They will be in bad shape when Tassie sucks out the best of the draft and trade market in a few years time.

Financial Review: Melbourne Demons the 6th most valuable brand in the AFL
I have no knowledge of brand valuations and their methodology but here is a link if anyone is interested: https://brandirectory.com/methodology I would say that MFC does certainly have some additional value as a brand as it has the name 'Melbourne' and also has the history of being the original foundation football club for the code itself.

Tim Lamb
No, he is looking at retirement. He is contracted at Carlton until the end of next year. Next year will be Wright's CEO training year under Cook. Might be good for CFC if he could stay on as a consultant post 2025 though but I understand he no longer wants to work full time after next year.

Dan Houston
Houston wants to head to Princes Park. He had a good relationship with Voss at Port Adelaide, is close friends with Jack Silvagni and was a Blues supporter growing up but Carlton aren't throwing everything at it and are juggling many balls (as you do in trade period). He would be a handy addition but ultimately it is about what it costs you.

Oliver Trade Rumours
No one should take Sam McClure seriously. Using the word "journalist" in the same sentence as him is not advisable. Clarry with be at MFC next season and I am tipping he comes back with some good form in season 2025.
