  1. Obviously these European stadia are primarily for soccer with a smaller roofing footprint. Just trying to make the point as to why potentially cheaper options are not being looked at ๐Ÿค” It is almost like the AFL wants this to be tripped up at the stadium stage ๐Ÿคจ I don't think they need a roof, they just need a comfortable, modern stadium with about 30K capacity. It does not need a roof over the oval, just good coverage for the stands.
  2. The Blues are high up there. We are nicknamed the Baggers. Checks out ๐Ÿ˜ Would put Essendon above the Blues and C'Wood lower down the list mind you. The MFC's '21 Flag was a release valve for the Dees faithful.
  3. For all those that dump on CP5 and think he is washed up, he got 16 Brownlow votes coming off a serious injury. The Brand still has mote likes on Insta to come methinks ๐Ÿ˜
  4. Essendon & Carlton have been diabolically bad for decades, wallowing in past glories and mired in factions inside the clubs. Essendon still have the spectre of Sheedy and the cult of Hird that could still hamper them for sometime to come. Carlton seem to be cleaning house, remains to be be see if it is thorough enough to set up a more healthy and professional environment. Doubt Carlton will throw pots of gold at any one player anymore, the Blues wisely passed on matching the bags of cash thrown by the Saints at TDK. A positive sign.
  5. He was sitting next to George Hewett. Tom De Koning was sitting next to Ross Lyon and a giant suitcase full of filthy luchre ๐Ÿ’ฐ
  6. Good to see Matt Rowell* getting up over both Nick Daicos and Bailey Smith ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ future Carlton midfielder ๐Ÿ˜
  7. This requirement for a fixed roof on the stadium is just nonsense. If the AFL are serious about Tasmania they need to be open to other (cheaper) stadium concepts. Without a roof or a cheaper type of roof. I wonder what a retractable membrane roof like this in Frankfurt, Germany would cost? I think a stadium in Poland also adopted this roofing system.
  8. DKs were quite good, trotted out the main classics and were on stage for about an hour and 10 minutes. Sure there is no Jello Biafra but I still enjoyed it ๐Ÿ‘
  9. Liverpool v Everton at 9.30pm. COYB. Up the Toffees! ๐Ÿ’™
  10. Houston was putting everything on one bet, last chance for a second Flag for them. They have come up short and will be falling off an age cliff very soon ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Thank you Brissie!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  11. Can't share in the Geelong hate. As a young uni grad my work took me to Geelong and when I wasn't back in Melbourne on a weekend at Princes Park or the MCG I sometimes wandered over to Kardinia Park (could see it from my balcony) to catch games. Liked the Town and the people, lived there for several years. Sure they aren't the loveable team from that era but would always cheer for them over the likes of the arrogant Hawks or the filthy Pies! Not too dark on them being a recipient of stadium grant largesse, I see it as giving sonething back to regional Victoria as so much is centralised in Melbourne. They are however most definitely breaching the salary cap, am certain of it so if they meet the Lions, hope Brisvegas knock them off in the GF ๐Ÿ˜
  12. Love the Corner Hotel, been there for many gigs and plenty of pre footy beers as well ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Never been to the B'wick Ballroom though. Did go to The Bendigo Hotel in C'Wood [imaginary spit on the ground uttering those words, lol] a few weeks ago to catch the Cosmic Psychos, the Bendi is better since the new owners took over, great beer selection in the front bar ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  13. Yes, thought it was like a smaller, less elaborate version of the venerable old Forum. Ladt gig I saw at the Forum was the Jesus and Mary Chain. I think the acoustics are better at the Forum. The Northcote Theatre is still a decent venue though. My first time there. Usually in that part of town I seem to end up at gigs at The Croxton.
  14. Outrageous, I can't stand how that moniker has been stolen from Jeff Farmer! Another peeve is calling Jeremy Cameron "Jezza" ... there can only be one "Jezza" ... farken! ๐Ÿ˜ก
  15. Mannequin Death Squad. Was keen to catch them but watched the footy at The Peacock next door (until HT) and when I turned up to the gig they already finished (must have been a short set).
  16. Yes, not the same without Jello but they still put on a good show with East Bay Ray and Klaus Flouride from the original lineup. First time at the Northcote Theatre, I like the venue, has character & charm and is fine for a 4 piece band but the stage might be a tad small for some other bands.
  17. Dead Kennedys at the Northcote Theatre. Was a huge DKs fan in the late HS and early uni years.
  18. Was at a gig in the inner north tonight (did catch the first 2 quarters in a pub) and am on a train home, we just picked up footy fans at Richmond and plenty of dejected Dingley Hawks fans, enjoying their glumness ๐Ÿ˜ Just need the Lions to win tomorrow!!
  19. We will see how things pan out in the next year or two but Graham Wright has an awesome track record in previous gigs, so hoping he can keep on with the clean out he clearly has commenced.
  20. I think those days might be over, mostly new people on the scene now ...
  21. All valid observations but if it continues there will indeed be a drop-off, incremental and over a long time span. If the AFL was serious about equalisation wouldn't they increase the salary & soft cap for clubs that finish lower on the ladder? ๐Ÿค”
  22. I think you are right. GC have both picks and decent young players. Their problem is that they don't want to pay the price required ... for now ... The Dees with Petracca or the Blues with Curnow can sit tight. Unless they get some great offers, those players can stay, they have years to run on their contracts.
  23. I never turned on CP5 ๐Ÿ˜‡ I fully supported his attempts to move to Carlton last year ๐Ÿ˜
  24. 100% correct. There are more reasons for Trac to stay on than there were last year. Not saying that a trade is fantasy but definitely less impetus this year than 12 months ago.
  25. I have both Melbourne and Carlton Memberships and can confirm the CFC membership team are far more professional and proactive. When I have dealt with MFC membership on the phone they are very polite and helpful but Carlton membership dept are regularly sending me texts that my CC is about to expire and I may want to update my CC details. They are like polite debt collectors ๐Ÿ˜
