I have a broken windshield wiper face tatt, Mara Salvatrucha style ... I see what you did there with 'The Offspring' reference 😄 Don't do tatts ... only thing I would possibly even remotely consider is a small and discrerte Navy Blue CFC monogram when the flags come. Something like CFC 2025-2027 😁

I think Ed had a really good season. He definitely dropped off in 2022 & 2023 though. I think he has at least 3 or 4 years of very good football in him.

I like wearing MFC polo tops as casual wear when on holidays abroad. Some people like to wear say NY Yankees or Real Madrid apparel. I like Demons polo tops, authentically Melbourne, my home town.
-
Cheers. FWIW, I even dropped $100 on merch at the Demons online store today. My Carlton barracking cousins accuse me of being a closet Dees fan 😁
-
Yes, I post about the Dees there 😈 😁 Anyways, back to fixturing 2025 ... pretty happy with it for both CFC & MFC.

Carlton was an MCG tenant from 1885 to 1890 and the most popular club in Melbourne at the time. MFC played nearby at the Friendlies Societies Ground (where Olympic Park/AIA Centre is now) and became a regular tenant at the MCG in 1890 with the MCC link up.

AFL, Ian Collins, financial situation funding Princes Park redevelopments .. a confluence of events. Sad times but probably unavoidable in those circumstances and to some degree self-inflicted.
-
Essendon got a sweetheart deal there. Carlton was railroaded to go to Docklands.
-
Essendon was an original anchor tenant at Marvel and have a favourable deal there, they just play some high drawing home games at the MCG. Carlton on the other hand now have a deal directly with the MCG and are essentially tenants of two stadiums now. Carlton doesn't just play high drawing games at the MCG, they also play the likes of Gold Coast and North Melbourne at the MCG on occasion. I think you will see the balance shift to 7 or 8 MCG games for the Blues in the near future. It is befitting the MCG's first ever anchor football club, even before MFC 😁
-
Harsh but realistic assessment of where the Bombers are at 😁 Actually, they pack out Marvel even with their lacklustre performances, they will seek more MCG games in the future too.
-
Well it is for 1 game (mandated by the AFL) and Traeger Park (by choice) for another home game. As for Carlton & Essendon, they have two home stadiums, MCG & Marvel. Next season the Blues have 6 MCG home games and 5 Marvel home games. I expect MCG games to increase in the future because Carlton have capacity issues at Marvel, it is too small for some games.
-
They won't stop. They own Marvel and games will be played there. Richmond & Collingwood have had to play there in recent times.
-
Sounds like a good draw for the Dees. Don't be too down about a Marvel home game. Marvel is actually a decent ground to watch footy in. Definitely prefer the MCG on a nice sunny day with a solid crowd but if the weather is windy and wet, Marvel is good value and can get a decent atmosphere if you get over 30K in. Handy being next to Southern Cross Station and its easy to get a beer or snack there without lining up too long.

A football team adopt an aggressive moniker ... outrageous for a competive, contact football code! The Sharks were good enough for East Freo in the WAFL. According to their logic, MFC should have remained the Fuchsias instead of become the feared Demons and going on a 30+ year reign of 10 Premierships ... no room for aggression in this sport 😁
-
Always though the "Suns" was such a lame name. They should merge with Southport Sharks, rebrand as the Gold Coast Sharks and use the Sharks guernsey but in red & yellow.

The Watch AFL App can be kind of clunky to use, hopefully a few poolside Singhas will make the experience more enjoyable 🍺🏖😃

A Saturday at Adelaide Oval would be great for me with Carlton v WC during the day and Dees v Essendon at night ... alas ... have a family holiday to Thailand booked then, think I will be watching some footy poolside with a cocktail in hand 🍹😃

I managed to get a ticket in the seated area. The standing room tickets up front sold out incredibly quickly so I missed out on that. Pretty much everyone stood up in the seated are in any event.

Great old school footage, just a bit before my gig freqenting days. I used to occasionslly frequent 'The Club' in Smith Street in the 90s as a uni student ... a late night venue when at a loose end ... The Club was always open 😁

I was born in the 70s and have a fleeting memory of watching some of the 1979 Grand Final but the 80s was my childhood exposure to footy. In terms of style and mindset of footy, the 80s were similar to the 70s. It was the 90s that saw a lot more athleticism and professionalism come in. TISM have quite a few footy references in their songs. Ron Hitler-Barassi is a die hard Richmond supporter and the rest of early TISM members were Sainters (the video clip to "Greg! The Stop Sign" was filmed at Linton Street, Moorabbin). I went to the gig at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl last night, was a great night! 😃

For the TISM fans on Demonland ...

Maybe, maybe not. I am a Carlton Member as well as a Dees Member and whilst both apps are clunky and not particularly user friendly I have definitely had more issues with the MFC software compared to the CFC software (they should be the same/similar). In 2023 each time I wanted to go to an MFC gane I had to contact the club to send me an email with a separate bar coded ticket attached. Was annoying. That was despite a dozen times deleting and re-installing the app. They said they will send me a membership card this year (CFC do this automatically, no need to opt in). Just my observations based on past recent experience.

The Drums are starting to beat for North
No. 31 replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think there is a magic number for Melbourne teams but North have always been a victim of their geography. Always overshadowed by powerful clubs with huge supporter bases on their doorstep (Essendon & Carlton). Did not take advantage of a repositioning as Footscray did by playing some games in Ballarat. They are simply limited in attracting new supporters, especially having been a poorly performing side for so long, when Melbourne was booming demographically and they could have attracted new supporters without previous club loyalties. -
Have caught Nunchuka Superfly in Geelong and Melbourne a few times as well. Prefer the Hard-Ons though.

Will be interesting to see if he can get fit and get a solid patch of consecutive games at Kardinia Park. Certainly has talent, not sure his body will hold up though.
