  1. He looks a fair way off teh pace, which is ok, Swallow looks better than him. It may take a while for Gus to get going. He wouldnt be on the plane to Perth in my team at the moment, looks like he needs block of games.
  2. Rivers could play more games than expected. Lovely kick. We have needed another good ball user so badly.
  3. Yes, he could have kicked 6 or 7 in his first 6 qtrs for us. Traditionally i think he has been ok..
  4. Type of match where the positives will far outweigh any negative. Pickett is electric, he is quick, he is fierce. He really does have a cyril type of presence. Mitch Brown might be the cheapest best pick up in a while.
  5. Whats coming out of the club at the moment really is a breath of fresh air. Great Media access with the Doco, Good decisions with Captaincy, positive re-signings, an impressive win in first real hit out, Draftees having an impact, positive messaging through the AGM, sponsorship securing, Coaching structure re-jig, focus on fitness appointment. Its feels like as a club, we are on teh same page, it showing, we are doing more things right than we are wrong, something we historically have not done well.
  6. Its the correct move and when its peer led, you cant really argue. To Captain a football side for one game is an honour, Jack should be proud of his tenure, captained a club in 2 winning finals, not many Demons have done that. Get back to being tough and hell bent on the footy. That leadership will compliment Max's perfectly. No leadership group is refreshing. Says they are all in teh leadership group, all leaders in their own right. Something feels pretty good about the club at the moment,!

  8. Yeah agree, Brett was a gun, very reliable and steady, read the play so well. Great player.
  9. I think you will find we have 2 games organised against other clubs.. Essendon and maybe North?
  10. All good mate, its a weird one, these teams often get overlooked when talking about All Australia reps, essentially the same thing. Anyway to make a team as a CHB for 2 years in a row, then 3 years as a HFF shows what a player he was.
  11. Soooo will he be place don the LTI list? and does that mean with him and Nietschke we have 2 spots to fill?
  12. 1989 & 1990 he was named CHB in the team of the year, in 1991 it was renamed All Australian. 1989 B: A. Johnson, C. Langford, G. Pert. HB: B. Lovett, G. Lyon, G. McKenna. ? D. Pritchard, P. Couch, G. Brown. HF: N. Winmar, S. Kernahan, Gary Ablett. F: B. Stoneham, J. Dunstall, A. Bews. Foll: S. Madden, M. Bairstow. Rover: J. Platten. Inter: T. Daniher, T. Watson, M. Bayes, G. Williams. 1990 B: A. Collins, S. Silvagni, J. Worsfold. HB: B. Lovett, G. Lyon, G. O’Donnell. ? D. Millane, A. Shaw (capt.). G. Wright. HF: P. Daicos, S. Loewe, Gary Ablett. F: S. Kernahan, J. Longmire, S. Russell. Foll: S. Madden, C. Lewis. Rover: A. McGuinness. Inter: M. McGuane, M. Thompson, A. Liberatore, M. Tuck. Coach: L. Matthews.
  13. Simply must play finals. Anything less in my opinion is a fail, and make no mistakes about it, it will be very hard to do so. There are 2 spots i reckon up for grabs. OUT: Essendon / Geelong IN: St Kilda / Port Adelaide / Melbourne / Sydney / Nth Melbourne
  14. A beautiful kick, and a versatile player. All Australia forward, All Australian defender and played in the middle against Essendon one day and turned the game. He should be in the HoF i have no doubt, he Captained his team, BnF winner, long time state rep and Captain, Coached Australia amongst other things he has done in the footy community. If players like: Chris Grant, Barry Hall & Warren Tredrea (all fine players) are in, i would argue that Lyon is the equal of any of them.
  15. Hard to argue with that really. Getting a win in R1 is not the be all and end all, but imagine sneaking R1 in Perth, what a boost that would be.
  16. The season is a marathon, id expect a few niggles with a new training regime compared to previous ones, im tipping since they got teh footy's out pretty much straight away, you are going to get some impact injuries and footy related ankles and corkies. Id love some clarity on if we have an available spot on the list due to Nietschke knee injury.. can he be placed on LTI list and replaced?
  17. 8-10 weeks probably means the first 4 weeks of teh year.. its not ideal, but its not the end of the world. What we have to be clear of now is if Max isnt 100% for R1 then there is no way in hell he should play. Would love to win R1 but would rather not risk any kety players over in the west. Use Brown, Use Weid, Use Petty if we have to.
  18. I have been pretty strong on the fact that last year all we did was talk and never deliver, it actually really got to me. But i have moved on, i know it cliched but a club has to sell hope, i cant wait to see the doco, i love seeing players and inner sanctum stuff. I love Hibberd saying its been unbelievable pre-season, i love hearing our coaches are great, i love hearing our draftee's are training well and have fitted in beautifully. Life's a bit to precious to sweat the small stuff like this, im embracing it, im excited, i cant wait and if people are bagging us then, it means we get under peoples skin, i like that, Nth Melbourne just said they want to play finals, its hardly caused a ripple. There is talk and there then there is irrelevance.
  19. Im nearly certain he will get a spot. This would have to have been expected. Hiccups and hurdles all part of it.
  20. I have watched a bit of Bedford, at training i think he is more like Daniel Rioli type, rather than a Eddie Betts if that comparison makes sense? , moves well and i dont think would be anchored to the FP, if he plays he may be up the ground a bit i reckon. Anyway he is really coming on and from other reports i think he is the bolter of the pre season so far.
  21. I like it and dont agree with the negativity around this stuff, i understand it, but a video shouldn't cause such angst. The club is a business, it has to engage and excite, i for one love teh prospect of where we could go this year, it was hell last year, not much worse than that. Now will it be heaven or will linger in purgatory or be anchored in hell remains to be seen. But if we are not thinking positive as a club then we are failing our members. The club must promote, its up to the p[layers to deliver.
  22. Dont get me wrong im not really critical of them, i just thought we had other areas we should have addressed rather than an inside mid and half back flanker. The investment is pick 6 for May and KK could have been King, would be very handy. but thats teh draft for you, full of what ifs. i just hope they can have an impact and show something.
  23. Fritta to play every game, therefor kicking 50 plus goals. I want to see either a Sparrow or Jordan fight for a regular spot, investment wise it was big decision to draft these types of players when it wasn't a priority so they need to start to push hard for selection.
  24. The traditional FF role has changed, you look at our bigger Fwds: Tmac, Weid, Brown, Petty, Jackson, Fritta, Melk, Trac, Hannan, AVB, Joel Smith, Pruess at any given time, any of those guys could play out of the Square. I think its Weid and Brown right behind him. Big year for Weid.
