The Jagga Smith Thread
Goodbye Jagga, we hardly knew ye

Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?
Very curious as Hynes to me looks very much a JT pick and I’m surprised he’s not rated higher in all of the power rankings I wouldn’t be surprised if we did end up taking him at 9 and he’s the first real bolter of the night McGowan with the inside word perhaps?

At least they linked us to Hynes and Allan at 9… r-right?

2024 Phantom Drafts
Welp, let’s just hope Adelaide and North come to a deal for pick 2 so that Tauru is off the board before our first selection I’ll be sick if we take Tauru over Langford at 5

2024 Phantom Drafts
They have us taking Langford and Armstrong Interestingly they have FOS slipping to the Saints, with Jagga being taken by Carlton

Bad draft choices are always a chance when Stephen Silvagni is your list manager

2024 Phantom Drafts
I’ve had the same thought about Smith and Langford, and as unlikely as it is there are scenarios where we get both I think it relies on us taking Smith at 5 though as reporting suggests he won’t last past the Saints (whereas this hasn’t been explicitly stated for Langford) Smilie has been heavily linked to Richmond at 6 so presuming they take him, it would depend on the Saints and their own internal rankings It’s not impossible that they rate say Tobie Travaglia or Bo Allan higher than Langford, and/or go with a tall such as an Armstrong More likely they just take Langford with one of their picks, but I’ll be doing cartwheels if not

I reckon Adelaide will pull the trigger on a deal with North for Pick 2 to get him

Hearing that Someone with a funny name is rated very highly by JT 👀

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Some of those kicks are *chef’s kiss* From the footage I’ve seen I reckon his physical limitations are overstated, wouldn’t be against taking him with 9 at all

As good as Sanders is as a midfielder, he is very vanilla and can’t play any other position, hence why he didn’t get much game time Compare that to the top 5 or 6 of this draft - Lalor and Langford could come in and rotate forward/midfield, Smith could come off half back or even play a small forward role, FOS is dynamic enough that he could play anywhere from wing to half forward Not hard to see all of those guys playing most games next year Having said that I do agree that a couple of draftees - however good - won’t significantly change our fortunes next year as we’re still very reliant on Trac and Clarry playing at an elite level to be contending for the flag

Every night I wake up in a cold sweat after having nightmares that we take Armstrong

2024 Phantom Drafts
It still feels more like speculation than anything concrete But I won’t be sleeping easy until Cal’s Phantom Draft drops next week We’ll know then whether to panic or not 🙃

Agree Adonski, it’s almost like only 5% of people don’t repeat what they read or hear Like me

5 - Jagga Smith I was on Langford for a long time (and would still take him if Jagga isn’t there) but I’ve come round to Jagga in a big way the past few weeks 9 - Allan or Smilie This presumes we take Jagga and we look to pair him with a big bodied mid If we take Langford at 5 I’d love Lindsay or Reid here

If I could lock that in now I would!

The Bo Allan Thread
Good point - although he did average around 20 possessions this year playing both half back and midfield, so there is some ball winning ability there I guess you’d just hope that you’re drafting an athletic football player, not an athlete trying to play football (if that makes sense)
-
The Bo Allan Thread
He has a very high ceiling I reckon If he can improve his decision making and kicking he’ll be right up there with the best of this years crop Plus something in my gut is telling me he’s right at the top of JT’s list for pick 9

The Jagga Smith Thread
Drafting either would be a huge win and would set us up for the next decade But I think Jagga would compliment our current midfield the best out of all the top prospects He’s an accumulator and is smart and clean with his possessions, and some of his movement in traffic is mouthwatering I’ve said before that while he may not be as good as Daicos or Sheezel (although he could be), I see him being able to come straight in and make an impact in that qtr back type role off the back of stoppages, winning the ball and helping with transition and ball movement

Pls let him fall to us

He did 31 disposals in one match against Williamstown

Draft night - How it may work out?
To be fair to Kolt he probably should have spent most of his year at Casey, but our raft of injuries bought him in earlier than expected I think his fundamentals - getting to contests, applying pressure, staying involved in the play - are all really strong His disposal and decision making left a bit to be desired at times, but I think a lot of that can be put down to a) being a first year player and b) still needing to build up his tank (as he would often start really strongly in games before fading) Once he settles in and has a few more preseasons I think we’ll see some more of the X factor that he showed at his junior levels, and on a few occasions this year (his WC and GC games were really strong)

The Sid Draper Thread
Neither can I but the word is that they’re really into Langford
