  1. Buckley putting a team together but not interested in the job according to Edmund? Wild areas
  2. I guess Hayden thought the job was Skip-Worthy… I’ll see myself out
  3. Bizarre to have an interview lined up but then pull out at the last minute Agree with other posters here - reckon he’s got a sense that for whatever reason he’s not likely to get the job and pulled out No shame in that, but if you were wanting to coach West Coast of all teams there’s no way you wouldn’t have wanted to coach us too
  4. On the Tassie front, all I’ll say is that Bucks clearly isn’t interested in winning Premiership if he decides to go that route…
  5. To be fair to Bucks this does line up with what he’s said publicly about determining whether Melbourne is the right fit for him But at the same time it would be odd for him not to have a high level of interest given the inside word of a few well connected posters here
  6. I’ll die on the hill that we were never “figured out” in 2022 and 23 We didn’t give ourselves a chance in 22 because of an inability to run out games, part of which was a result of poor management of players throughout the season We were primed in 23 but had a horrendous run of bad luck which saw us run out with a D grade forward line in the Carlton semi, which saw one of the all time awful goal kicking performances Neither of the straight sets exits were a result of our system, but 23 was probably the last year we could realistically win the flag with that style and group of players
  7. Love the Dunkley comparison We need midfielders who can defend, run both ways and win their own ball just as much as we need good ball users Plus at 22 he’s still got scope for further development Hopefully Finey is on the money and we can bring him in and continue to rebalance our midfield mix
  8. Totally agree about Green All I’ll say is that Smith can’t start soon enough…
  9. I get it, but clearly we’ve identified experience as a requirement for the role Every club will have different needs when going to market for a new coach You mention Scott as an example, but Geelong was a strong enough club on and off the field to ‘take the risk’ on an untried coach (as good as he’s since been for them) Would we have structures in the club to support a coach like that? I’m not so sure Regardless I tend to agree with your last point, it’s pretty clear we sounded out Buckley long before Goodwin was sacked, so it’s a moot point anyway
  10. Are people actually upset by Green saying we want eight years experience? I’d bloody hope we’re trying to get an experienced candidate - it’s a senior coaching role for a football club that’s lacked strong leadership for years now
  11. Would love to get Jimmy into that role Reckon he’d be well suited given his board/admin experience at GWS
  12. If we could pry out Flanders and Mihocek in addition to those two it would be a handy off season
  13. Is that to say Goodwin being gone makes Dogga want to come back more/makes it easier to lure him back? Understand it would be extremely difficult either way
  14. While I tend to agree about MFC supporters being too sensitive about negative reporting, I think most people’s issue is that Caro is dressing up her personal agenda as “reporting” It’s been clear since Bucks emerged as the favourite for the job that she’s been against it, likely because of her connections to Brendon Gale and AFL HQ Which is fair enough, but let’s not pretend that it’s anything but that That’s my read on it anyway 🤷
  15. Loving your posts tonight Onion 👏
  16. Seriously, how much are they paying her?
  17. I mean if Bucks doesn’t want to stand a chance of winning a premiership for a decade, go for it 🙄
  18. It’s a shame about Twomey because for a long time I’ve really rated him as a sports journalist who didn’t engage in hyperbole And to be fair he still gets good mail from time to time But he’s clearly moving more and more in to the endless trade and free agency news cycle that dominates the AFL media now I’ll still tune into his draft analysis and back him in when he breaks a news story, but it’s a shame he’s feeding into the vapid media landscape that he used to differentiate from
  19. Do we really know that Daly was the man though? He’s very highly rated, but so was David Noble who also didn’t have coaching experience, and we know how that turned out At the end of the day most of us can only gauge any candidate from the outside looking in, unless they have a track record like Bucks Anyway whether it’s Bucks or an untried assistant, I’d rather someone who wants the job over someone who has to be convinced to join the process
  20. I know people want to know if the AFL listed players are in attendance, but I want to know if anyone has eyes on Buckley? 🤣
  21. Unfortunately North wouldn’t have to trade for Spargo as he’s an UFA
  22. A great contributor in 2021 but was struggling for impact in 22/23 before his Achilles injury derailed his 24 season I think we need to start to move past the Spargo’s of the world for small forwards who can provide defensive pressure whilst also hitting the scoreboard We’ll always need those high half forwards but the best of them manage to snag a few goals while getting upwards of 15 possies a game - something Spargo unfortunately hasn’t done for a while now
  23. From that list alone it’s looking more and more like Bucks Glad to see Montgomery in there though, hadn’t seen his name thrown around in the media yet but seems very highly rated
  24. Mate surely not? For one he’s far younger than those players and would add to our younger core Two he’s actually getting games at the Suns and not on the verge of being delisted And three he’s shown genuine quality as a mid and half back, particularly last year where he was very highly rated Injuries and other players being preferred in those position has seen him have a down year, but he is nowhere near the camp of being a Hunter/Billings selection
  25. The six coaches: Nathan Buckley; Bathan Nuckley; Collingwood’s 2018 GF coach; The 2002 Norm Smith Medallist; One of the three 2003 Brownlow Medallists; and That bloke from On the Couch
