That dilutes their McStay FA compensation and hurts them with picks and points for Dunkley and the 2 F/S.
-
The Lever trade was 10 + F1st for Lever and 35 (plus steak knives both ways) and Demonland thought WE got ripped off there. That's the benchmark for this trade.
-
You've got Out: Pick 11 twice, which is confusing the deal
-
Every year at least one very good player will be out of contract. AFAIK Luke Jackson is the first one, that we wanted to keep, to leave. You'll have an unhappy time if you stress over every case.
-
Any interest at all in Jackson Nelson as a lockdown defender, Hibbo replacement? Delisted by WC, 26yo, 100 games, has some size at 187cm, reputed hard trainer and good character.
-
This makes sense. There's no way it's Bowes and 7 for salary dump straight up, the Suns will want something useful in next year's draft back. Last year it was Brodie + 19 for 2022 2nd (31) (and steak knives). Similar would be Bowes + 7 for 2022 19 - late 1st from a good team, early 2nd from a battler, and steak knives to smooth it out to around the value of 19.
-
This sounds like a good idea, and they did similar last year with Brodie. 7 + F1st for Jackson and 32
-
So these interested clubs will offer him more total money over more years. There's no way he takes the same money over more years.
-
That doesn't make sense. Why would we want him for 4 years if that's the case?
-
Why would he do that? There would have to be extra $s for the extra years.
-
Late 1st for Grundy at $700k/year is probably fair value but we have some leverage because they "must" do it and we "want" to do it. FA for McStay closes before the trade period so that puts a little time pressure on too, particularly with Brisbane also wanting an outcome for their Dunkley trade. We should be able to do a bit better than fair value. The trade may need to get done before the Jackson deal is closed and then it would have to be F1st with something coming back, or best case 32.

Lever trade is probably the benchmark. 10 + F1st for Lever + 35 with steak knives in Adelaide's favour. DL thought we were ripped off.
-
That's an outrageous disgrace.

I don't like Geelong but that outcome is impossible for me to dislike. Flags are very hard to win. They played a nearly perfect season, managed their squad superbly and made the necessary changes to their game plan to bring success. I even felt good Scott, Selwood, Hawkins, Dangerfield and Smith - something I thought I'd never say - but excellence is excellent. They deserve all accolades - very well done.
-
This is the most likely explanation.
-
You're not comparing the right players. It's Stengle and Grundy in this thread.
-
Doesn't seem like a trade or draft related topic.
-
That's J.Smith if J.Hunt is gone. Hopefully he's not injured too ...
-
Agree. I don't watch the U18s and was amazed at the quality of the play.
-
I don't believe Sydney can win if Sam Reid doesn't play, crucial to their structure. Interesting if they go for Amarty or McLean as subs - that means they may play and underdone Reid and hope.

Two years isn't enough to keep Jayden, someone will offer more. It just sets the bar for an offer from another club to require 3rd round compensation. We reportedly upped the offer and signed J.Smith to 2 years after he got interest from Sydney. But I don't think this is necessarily a positive sign for similarly retaining Jayden, quite possibly the reverse. Particularly with reports Hibbo has been offered a year. We need list turnover and cap space, and Jayden's exit as a FA with some compensation - pick 51? - seems likely to me.
-
I really can't see Turner playing on Charlie Cameron and Tom Papley - we need someone else to replace Hibbo. Currently it's Jayden or J.Smith. We need to recruit in this role. Turner is 194cm and is a key back in genuine competition with Tomlinson.
-
Interesting on Baker. Surely he's untradeable, we'd have to put an offer in front of him to make that happen.

Agree. Fraser Rosman is gone gone for example.
