That's not going to happen.

F*^k with Freo's minds and make their state competitor pay a higher price.
-
We just need WC to make some sort of competitive bid for Jackson and Freo will up their offer. The spectre of a WC flag with Jackson is too nightmarish for Freo to survive.
-
Probably not, but I'm very happy for them to just miss out for the next 10 years again though
-
Whoa there. You're making way too much sense for this thread. WC 8 + F2 will make Freo sweeten their offer and WC will put it on the table just to stretch Freo if nothing else.

According to Footywire Bruce has one year to run on his current contract. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/out_of_contract_players?year=2023&action=submit

Not sure what our overall strategy is. Tim Lamb said we're only taking two ND picks which currently makes sense with 4 out (Jackson, Bedford, Rosman, Hunt) and 2 in (Grundy and Chandler upgrade). But we only have one useful ND pick at 27 - 54 is not a useful draft pick because we traded out earlier ones on the basis we won't use them. 27 is surely earmarked for the Grundy trade somehow. So we're short 2 2022 ND picks. The Jackson trade is currently only going to produce 13 and (hopefully) some future picks. Not sure where the other 2022 ND pick is coming from? We'd either need to get two from Freo - 13 and one via a Lobb trade with the Dogs, or trade a F1st for a 2022 pick. The other moving part is the Bedford pick, maybe we can trade a F1st to GWS for Bedford and a 2022 1st? A lot to play out ...

Tomlinson for Bruce - he's actually listed at 197cm which surprised me. 30y3m old.
-
Tomlinson for Bruce - I've heard worse ideas ...

Well it can't be that now after Geelong's future pick trade with Brisbane, you're right. Shaping to be F3rd - that's a shocker!
-
Well that means Geelong can't trade their F1st in the Bowes deal now, looking at F3rd?
-
It'll be fascinating to see what Geelong send back.
-
Freo already have 2 F2nds don't they - their own and North's - so this doesn't affect the Jackson trade because they can already offer a F1st + F2nd.
-
Some things are private.
-
I don't think those bids really matter though Luci because we're not taking Fletcher or Davey anyway so our pick, player-wise, is effectively the same as traded, the F/Ss just slot in.
-
Agree. As unfair as it seems Freo just have to outbid WC who aren't bidding. There's no way I'd let LJ go to the PSD to prove a point and leave 2 1sts on the table. We may get a late sweetener but It won't be North's F2nd.
-
If Petty was going forward I don't think we'd be so open to trading Tomlinson. And as @Lil_red_fire_engine says I think Petty saves more goals back than he'll create forward. It will be interesting to see who's training where in the NY.
-
For me, there's been sufficient hints that there are undisclosed personal reasons driving LJ back to WA.
-
He'd need to be a nice Wayne Carey to justify what we'd have to trade to get him.
-
They wanted 30 + 39 back - it was a total rip off. Then they traded the 1st away! Brisbane far worse than Freo.
-
No WC and Freo hate each other
-
I'd rather be us with Jackson than the Dogs with Dunkley. That deal looks very hard to get done now with anything reasonable to the Dogs.
-
Cal Twomey said Tomlinson has 2 years to go on his contract and Deledio didn't correct him so I think that sounds the case - @Lucifers Hero They're actually in the hands of another club wanting Tomlinson, I'm sure we'd do the deal to free the cap.
-
Death riding them ... Look if WC somehow get 8 in mooted JHF deal they're likely to offer something like 8 + F2nd for LJ vs Freo's 13 + F1st. Then what are we going to do? Ask both of them for a sweetener but it won't be much.
