  1. 2nd highest rank in number of defensive 1 on 1s Lowest rank in % defensive 1 on 1s lost
  2. Mostly true, but AFAIK UFAs still warrant draft compensation, e.g. Jayden Hunt, last year 3rd round compensation. There is likely to be competition for JJ's services so he should get a 3-4 year contract on decent money, that combined with his young age which is another factor in compensation should provide something decent should he go. Maybe something we can use to match a bid on Kynan Brown.
  3. I think if the only thing that can make you happy is a premiership then you're destined to have a lot of unhappy weeks as a football supporter. We're a very good team who regularly gives a red hot go - that's all I need.
  4. The membership thread says we currently have 63,869 MFC members. How many of them have already reserved seats - IMHO absolute max 20,000. That leaves 44,000 GA members - do you really expect the MCG to keep 40,000 GA seats available in case these people turn up? That's why it's a ticketed event. I agree with the above post that they could just provide the basic seat upgrade for free, or just some nominal handling cost. I had to pay $17 plus handling for the minimum upgrade to a seat for each of my family members - fortunately we like Level 4 behind the PRE goals so this seating level suited us, but the $17 is gouging.
  5. Great player does not necessarily translate to great coach. Swimming - "move your arms, kick your legs and turn at the end of the pool" - LOL
  6. We'll be going so well without him that Clayton will have to come back via Casey.
  7. The fixture for R16-23 has been announced but still no ticket sales are available on the AFL site.
  8. Tight timing for the sub with a 1:35pm start at Casey.
  9. Quite reasonably the AFL and MFC want to showcase the game on FTA so it needs to be in the Sunday 3:20pm slot to do so.
  10. Interesting. As I was reading it I wondered how he defined a "shot" to get the percentages and it was good that he recognised the issues there at the end with shots that don't either score or go out of bounds not being counted. A kick to the top of the square - how do you know if that's a shot that has fallen short or an attempt to generate a high quality shot from that area?
  11. I prefer 2:30pm, 3:20pm like Sundays with a 6pm finish would be fine also. I couldn't stand waiting all day Saturday for it to happen, and then if we won, the medal ceremony and lap of honour going well past 11pm. I want a full evening and night of celebration.
  12. Yes but that decision will be entirely JJ's and FA starts before trade. Could there be a direct conversation with JJ prior to this that Harmes is leaving and his chances will increase?
  13. Thanks very much Luci that worked
  14. How can I find out my barcode for Ticketek ticket purchase if I only have the online membership and don't have the physical card?
  15. I think TMac is probably our best option of a lot of NQR choices. He provides the most flexibility if May or Lever get an in game injury.
  16. Pretty keen to see the remainder of the fixture released. I'm going to Alice Springs, it would be nice to know when our match is.
  17. Fritsch did need to improve his defensive efforts some time back and he did so and now I agree he has reverted. But I think you need to take into consideration that he's hampered by injury reading between the lines of @WalkingCivilWar posts. His performance is affected by this, possibly more than other players, but that's what you get. We could leave him out to recover and play say Joel Smith in his place but I expect the FD believe we have enough tall forward experimentation going on and want to keep one variable constant.
  18. 3% of total annual turnover of $10M supported by a weekly turnover and bank of $200K. The sports betting cycle naturally falls weekly. You're not going to have the whole bank in one bet, it will be spread over multiple bets, but yes if everything goes horribly wrong you could lose the bank so you probably need double just in case, that's why I said "order of magnitude". The bottom line is, as Binman and his mate say, you need to be good at it. If you are, then it's more likely that everything will win in the weekly cycle than everything will lose. I'm no good at it so won't be trying.
  19. I guess for a $10M turnover, that's weekly blocks of $200K total bets so that's the order of magnitude of the total bank you'd need. If you can make 3% that's $300K. The advantage of gambling over other investments is the fast turnaround of results. It may only be 3% but in reality it's 3% per betting cycle which could be 3% per week which is actually 150% per year.
