Yeah I think once everyone is on board we could try a one day time limit, what do you think? Make your selections in order in the thread so we can make sure they happen in the right order but keep a summary post up near the top with all your selections and players in position so so far - does this make sense? It is going to take a while but we've got nothing better to do until the pre-season comp starts ...

Yes and I'll take 1 more to round it out to 10, next in best dressed - it's gonna get too hard to pick players if we go beyond top 10 on each list - 10 decent West Coast or Essendon players - pleeeeease!!!!

Top effort with the remaining players HT. To make it fairer maybe we should have a draft with the 8 posters selecting their 18 in turn - same rules one from each club + 1 Post your selection and club and fill in your team as you go, e.g. === Fremantle: Sandilands B: HB: C: HF: F: R: Sandilands ===== Draft Order: Round 1 1. High Tower 2. Deez Nutz 3. Roger Mellie 4. Trengove 5. Destroy All 6. Range Rover Realism 7. The Master 8. Eth38 9. Ox 5 Demons 10. E25 Round 2 1. E25 2. Ox 5 Demons 3. Eth38 4. The Master 5. Range Rover Realism 6. Destroy All 7. Trengove 8. Roger Mellie 9. Deez Nutz 10. High Tower R3 repeat Round 1 order R4 repeat Round 2 order etc to Round 18. That's 180 picks ...
  6. What beautiful draft pick? Richmond have a END of first round compensation pick - are you seriously suggesting that GWS would trade one of their first 3 picks for Richmond's first rounder and an end of first round pick - if so just come out and say it. Port tried to trade picks 8 and 9 for our pick 2 in 2009 - no deal. Sydney tried to trade picks 6 and 14 for Richmonds pick 3 in 2009 - no deal. You're talking a a riddle of bullsh1t.
  7. Of course he can but there's no guarantee he'll get to the club of his choice. Luke Ball was a 26yo with an injury question mark - clubs steered clear, but clubs would be all over Scully and GWS has the first 3 picks in the ND and the 1st pick in the PSD.
  8. yep, there was no locking Always, no sometimes, think it's me, but you know I know and it's a dream. I think I know I mean a 'Yes' but it's all wrong, that is I think I disagree. .
  9. That's nothing compared with the old days over there ...
  10. F- Scully IS vulnerable to a GWS offer as an out of contract player but that's it. The only way he can get to another club is via a trade and we can play "hard-ball" as you say and refuse to trade him. Your point 6 must be alluding to the Pre-season draft - why you don't just come out and say it I don't know - but even if your mystery non-GWS club finished last (not easily achieved) they won't have 1st pick in the PSD, GWS will - see this year GC has first PSD pick. It would be well known that the move was afoot from the trade machinations and GWS would make sure they have a pick and have the salary cap space to meet any contract specification if Scully is available for "free" in that draft. So Scully can get to GWS but that's it - he'll either be at MFC or GWS in 2012. Please advise otherwise ...

Yaeh pretty good selections - I fear there may be a fair few similar results with Ablett, Franklin, Riewoldt etc. Maybe raise the bar and no repeat selections. Clearly it gets harder ...

Bit of off season entertainment: Pick one player from each club plus any one extra in position to form an 18 to win the next 3 flags. Will be better when GWS comes in and it can be truly one from each club.
  14. Abraham Lincoln does: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
  15. It is hard to say - ask Collingwood in 2010 and it's 0 ask Hawthorn and it's 6. For #1 ruckman in 2011 we've got Jamar, Spencer, Martin, Fitzpatrick, Gawn in that order out of potentially 46 listed players - are you feeling lucky? I do concede that there is also the issue of getting them all game-time at some level. If they're all fit then at least one possibly two will be playing Casey 2s. How many ruckmen do Casey have on their list? We'd ideally want them to have zero so we can play all our ruckmen but I can see why that may not be palatable to them particularly considering the general absence of MFC listed players in the last 2 VFL finals series.
  16. Spencer and Martin have been a bit injury prone and I wouldn't like to see Newton as 1st ruck. I hope we rookie a ready-to-play 1st ruck - it's only one of 6 picks although I agree it does depend on which one we feel we need to use to get someone worthwhile. If there's no better alternative I'd definitely take PJ at pick 84.
  17. Heard of take the first option?
  18. I wouldn't necessarily assume anything - it could be a courtesy to a player who has given good service to enable him to training at AFL level to maximise his opportunities. Same with Tom McNamara. That said I do think we need to rookie a mature ruckman as back-up for Jamar and Spencer - if both of them got injured our whole season could be de-railed.
  19. All but Cassidy are in the list above (bolded in my post quote) and all are mids/small forwards (excluding PJ and TMac)
  20. Hansen getting better advice than Chris "scapegoat" Johnson .
